RE: DX8 Help Please.
Hi all, I got it to work after talking with HH tech. I have four servos operating two airelons and two flaps and they are connected through Y cable. With this, I CANNOT get the flaps/gear to operate if I select the wing type that I have. With this the TX will not let you assign the flaps to AUX1 so I am SOL. The only way I can get to work is to choose normal wing type (one servo) to operate both airelons. Then I can assign flaps to AUX1. Can someone with Spektrum authority explain to me this oddity??? DP

DX8 Help Please.
Hello all, I hope to get some replies here on my predicament. I bought a DX8 recently and I could not the gear and flaps to operate!!! I selected two airelons/two flaps wing type and I just could not get anything to move at all. The servos on flaps/gears are fine when I inserted them into rudder channel so it is not the servos problem. This one got me stumped. DP

How to get DX8 to read gear/flap servos?
Hi all, I bought the DX8 and installed into my FMS Trojan. However, I could not get the gear/flaps to operate! I even changed frame rates to no avail. They worked fine with my 9303 before I sent the TX in for repair. Thanks DP

RE: What does telemetry do for you?
ORIGINAL: AndyKunz Here's how I use it: 1) RPM - I get a kick out of ''flying the numbers'' for landing. I also use it to see differences in performance for different props in flight. You can really see a prop unload in the air vs. on the test stand! 2) Flight Pack Volts - I use this to keep from over-discharging my battery. It also tells me when I have a weak cell before my charger will tell me. 3) Rx Volts - Wow, was this an eye-opener! I could immediately see problems with some of my models skating on the edge that I had no idea they needed some TLC. I firmly believe that if more modelers had access to this and used it there would be far fewer ''shot down'' complaints. 4) Airspeed - with RPM, I can see improvements in props for speed. It's also a lot of fun, and useful on a windy day when a radar gun is useless. My son and I like to see who can go faster. 5) Altitude - you'd never believe how low 400' is! It's also cool to go up half a mile and see how tiny your airplane is at that size. 6) G-Force - we announced this at iHobby last week. It's pretty slick to see how few G's our models are really pulling. My personal high is 7.3 on a Stryker in a 100MPH+ dive with a hardest-possible yank to pull out. 7) xxxxxxx - wait til you see this one!!! For me, they add a level of protection, they increase my awareness when tuning, and they provide more fun - depending on the sensor. Andy
For high end big airplanes I can see the use but say simple parkflyers like the PZ Trojan, does it really make a difference? Sorry for my ignorance. DP

RE: What's up with today's transmitters?
Hello I have heard about the new line of radio where you look at the screen like lap top PC screen while flying rather than looking at the plane. This is not the visor type. It gives you true view of flying like in the cockpit. Aimed for 2018 release is the SFFT technology where voice commands fly the plane for you. SFFT stands for " Stick Free Flying Technology". Within a few years, we can lay on the hammock or fold down beach chair with rum punch in one hand and watch our planes flying through the sky without any stick input. We can give command like " do a lazy eight and hold altitute of 100 feet" and go on with our bussiness like talking on cell phone or BBQing without worries. DP

RE: What does telemetry do for you?
ORIGINAL: krayzc-RCU Google say: Telemetry is a technology that allows remote measurement and transparent conveyance of remote information.[1] The word is derived from Greek roots tele = remote, and metron = measure. Systems that need external instructions and data to operate require the counterpart of telemetry, telecommand. Although the term commonly refers to wireless data transfer mechanisms (e.g. using radio, hypersonic or infrared systems), it also encompasses data transferred over other media, such as a telephone or computer network, optical link or other wired communications like phase line carrier. Many modern telemetry systems take advantage of the low cost and ubiquity of GSM networks by using SMS to receive and transmit telemetry data.
Thank you for your reply. What I am asking is how telemetry seen in newer radios can help an average R/C flyer. I am debating whether to buy a TX only or TX/telemetry DX8 that will cost 80 bucks more. Is telemetry something of a novel item designed for marketing gimmick or a feature that enhances the ease/joy of RC flying? DP

What's up with today's transmitters?
Hello all, As cell phones are getting larger and larger, I start to see the same thing with TXs. Yesterday I looked at the DX8 as well as the JR 11 and they are bigger than previous releases, especially the later. They remind me of the 80's cell phone (aka. the BRICK) and holding them is like holding a large personal pizza. I guess the larger size allows more features to be build in? I saw a high end TX on the NET yesterday and this one requires a strap on tray to operate. I wonder how their size will be say 5 years from now. DP

RE: Parkzone S.E.5a
Greetings, For the life of me, I cannot understand why PZ would put such grossly over scaled landing struts on this scale plane???? These plastic struts are purely decorative and they do not contribute to the rigidity of the gear assembly. This makes the plane very toy like and although I am a fan of PZ, this design left me speechless. I plan to replace with wooden struts to make it more scale like. DP

Hi ST Nice built on that DII. I used to fly wooden planes but I got so nervous so I fly just simple foamies now. But being a scale buff, I repainted most of my planes so they can be as scale as possible within reason given to a foamy. In fact I kept telling myself that is just a foamy so I don't go overboard.
ORIGINAL: Lnewqban What type of glue does the manufacturer recommend? Do the stab halves have braces? Does the attached pic belong to your plane? If so, you could insert a flat piece of aluminum through the vertical tail and underneath the leading edge of both half-stabs and glue there; just in case the stab is hit by accident later on.
Hi there, That is what I have and I have corrected the problem. I used staples (4 piece thick) and glued them in via Grozilla glue and I placed three on each side. Then I applied putty and sand them smooth followed by repainting and weathering. I think that will be sufficient. DP

RE: How to disengage flap movements from airelons?
ORIGINAL: flycatch You got alot of feedback but you purchased the wrong receiver. You require a minimum of seven channels to accomplish what is required. Rudder= one channel throttle=one channel airlerons=two channels elevator=one channel flaps=two channels Total number of channels in use=seven channels You mix airlerons and mix flaps
Hi Flycatch, I use the AR600 (six channel) and I was able to accomplish what I need although I wonder if that is the best arrangement. There 4 servos for the flaps (inboard and outboard flaps) that all connected to a single channel (aux). The two other airelons are connected to a single Y connector and that connects to the airleron slot. Why should I use seperate channels for the airelons or do I need to? I do not do any 3D stuff at all. DP
ORIGINAL: on_your_six I have the same AR500 receiver in a plane of mine... TWO of the receiver channels are marked ''Ail'' for ailerons. You cannot use it for anything except a second aileron (reversed)...I was trying to use the fifth channel as a bomb drop...NO CAN DO! I guess they can get away with calling it a 5 channel receiver because it has 5 ports (connectors), but in reality, the receiver is 4 channels. So you need to move to a different receiver... as you have already done. I WOULD NOT USE THIS RECEIVER IN ANY HIGH PRICED PLANE.... Google ''ar500 spektrum'' to see all the problems they have been having with this receiver. RE: How to disengage flap movements from airelons?
ORIGINAL: Top_Gunn Why are you using two channels for ailerons? Unless you want to use them as flaperons (very bad idea), you only need one radio channel for both ailerons.
Hi TG, I am using one channel for ailerons through Y connector but the AR500 (5 channel) has TWO slots for airelons. Thinking one can be used for flaps, I plug the flaps connector (through Y connector) into the second airelon slot but then my flaps move in sync with the airelons. So the FIVE channel reciever allows FOUR functions (throttle, rudder, elevator and airelons) only. The FIFTH slot is not for flaps but for airelons so why call a 5 channel while it only functions as four??? DP
