For those in the US, have a look at firepowerc. I have a couple of the corsair pylons and they work great. Product page http://firepowerrc.com/Products.htm

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters
ORIGINAL: nmacwarbirds Here is Dibble's latest model. Dibble designed and built this model from scratch. The model is an Amstrong Whitworth Albemarle an obscure bomber of World War two. The Albemarle had a tricycle undercarriage which was unusual for that period, it soon became obsolete. However, it soon found a new lease of life. The Albemarle was underpowered, but it had one advantage for glider towing. Its tricycle undercarriage put it into a flying attitude even before it began to roll. The nose-wheel allowed full power to be applied rapidly because there was no torque to offset. It also prevented an overenthusiastic glider pilot from putting the tug into a nose-down attitude on the runway if the glider went into high-tow before the Albemarle was airborne. Albemarles from 38 Group took part in Operations Husky (the invasion of Sicily) and Elaborate (gliders to North Africa) and four Albemarle squadrons played an important role in Operation Overlord (D-Day). It also took part in operation market, the airborne part of market garden. Dibble's Albemarle is built to 1/12th scale (77 inch) is electrically powered and it flies beautifully. He has also designed a 1/12th scale (88 inch) Airspeed Horsa glider for me. The plan is the Albemarle will tow the Horsa aloft, that should be fun. Dibble has also made a cnc machine which he used to cut the parts for the Albemarle and Horsa. Regards Phil G.
That's one of the most interesting aspects of the hobby. Different and seldom seen models. The obscure ones are so interesting when they make it out to the field. Beautiful model. Looks like a B-24 relative.
ORIGINAL: louierc John - Where can we find a 1/6 scale pilot for these birds? It would be best to have one with a torso, since the detailed cockpit has a seat. Might have to cut his legs off at the knees, but we can do that. Louie
This is a WWII bird, using a gijoe 12" pilot figure would be more appropriate an way more cost effective. Many available on ebay.

RE: twin motor newbie!?
Setup the model with one ESC & motor at a time. You might also try decreasing the throttle trim. Sometimes ESCs will beep if they see a throttle signal other than zero when power is applied to the RX.

RE: Hanger-9 Corsair ARF Mods for more Scale/ Accurate Appearance
True Turn is the first place to look for a prop hub. This corsair is modelled after the WWII versions. If you are going with a 4 blade prop you will have to mod the cowl to have a lower chin or double side air scoops. The -4s and later were introduced in Korea. The foam LX mjodel corsair with folding wings uses an 18 inch 3 blade prop in north am with a 270kv motor and elsewhere in the world it is sold with a 4 blade 18 inch prop on a 250kv motor. The stock wheels are as big as you can go with the stock inserts. You could always cut away the sheeting and make up a square well and if you get adventurous you could make a set of doors. Look for a thread 'corsair gear doors'.... Good luck.

RE: Hanger-9 Corsair ARF Mods for more Scale/ Accurate Appearance
I have flown with a 16*9*3 MA prop with a 50-50-600kv motor. This was just fine for flying but took too much current. I swapped the motor down to a 400kv to keep the current draw reasonable.

RE: Hanger-9 Corsair ARF Mods for more Scale/ Accurate Appearance
the wingspan comparison gives 1/6 scale while a topflite corsair 1/7 cockpit fits, a 1/7 (10 inch) full body pilot is a little too big and a 1/8 too small.

RE: Goose's H9 F4U Corsair ARF bash
Goose, is the canopy the stock one? I used the Top Flite corsair cockpit and it fit almost perfectly. I then had a heel of time finding a 10" Star Trek figure to 'squeeze' in, and I mean squeeze!!!! It is supposed to be a perfect 6 or 6ft, 2in scale pilot. I then got the wonderful wife to make me a jacket & 'cap' for the pilot...

RE: What voltage on Tx is too low to fly safely?
The DX7 has a low battery beep. I left mine on overnight once and she was beeping away at a voltage close to 9.0 but I dont remember. I got fedup of the performance and switched to a Turnigy 3 cell, 1800mAh, 5C LiFe pack and it will last a month of 20 -30 flights every week.. Fits perfectly. It will sit at 10.4V fully charged, 10V after a few hours and stay there for 1 or 2 weeks, then drop to 9.9/9.8V for another week. Usually I charge the pack on my battery charger after it is at 9.8v for that last week. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__14076__ZIPPY_Flightmax_1800mAh_9_9V_5C_LiFePo4_TX_Pack.html

RE: Goose's H9 F4U Corsair ARF bash
If you wanted to lose more weight & y=the entire motor mount/audio box was removeable I would get rid of it in favour of four aluminum standoffs, the ESC can be mounted to them just fine.. For the first flite the audio system should not be installed at all just to get you to the weight limit you want... Wheels might make a diff, do the new wheels weigh more than the stock ones or are there lighter versions? Shorten up servo extensions and air lines. How much does the pilot weigh, can he bo hollowed out with a dremmel?

RE: Goose's H9 F4U Corsair ARF bash
Goose, Yeah I chose the fastest route, she was ready more or less since late July, I really just converted the stockH9 with new Callie graphics, weathering, panel lines & rivets. The flaps were quick after having done them before.. I see the issue with the front door flap and the reyract mechanism poking up. Did you recess them further into the wing to get the front flap to close? Also my next query is the mechanical main door closer is a U shaped rod that must be spring loaded? How was it sprung & attached at the ends to wing body? I will get the pix up this weekend if the weather holds. I hear we are in for some rain and thunder tonight & through the weekekend. Thanx.

Goose, really looking forward to a 2011 flight report.... Got my second incarnation 99% ready. Need to get the CofG taken care of and then we fly sometime in the next week.. I did her up as #115, Royal Navy... I was fiddling with a gear door flap to help with braking on landing approach and thought that full gear doors might be a good winter project. Do you have some details of the actuation mechanism, pix, words of wisdom..
