RE: Twisting APC props
I hate to burst your bubble Jr., but we have NEVER made or sold a TT Pro .40 piston/cylinder assembly. HN made some for the TT 36 for control line stunt, but that's a different animal. Where do you guys come up with this BS? Do you just do it to stir the pot?

RE: NEW NELSON Q-40
By the way, making a blanket statement about all the engines needing to be shimmed up is an error. It depends on many factors, and you cannot find out until you have run the engine and made the determination as to whether or not it needs to be changed. Every engine is a bit different.

RE: NEW NELSON Q-40
Barry, I'm not sure what the sweet spot is, but I'm sure we will see it this weekend. I would run the biggest prop the engine is happy with and go from there. If I can run an 8 pitch prop at PHX, I will be, but testing thus far suggests that it will slow them down.

What do you mean limit? RPM? I've run the current ones at over 30K with no problems. I certainly wouldn't be comfortable with wood at that speed.

Barry, put an .003" shim under the head. The engine is over compressed and you'll burn it up if you continue running it this way.

RE: NEW NELSON Q-40
Not an ignorant question, Stan, but these new engines are not the same configuration as the engines run in F3D. They are side exhaust, not rear, and don't run with full wave pipes like F3D. Henry Nelson has built a number of rear exhaust long strokes for F3D, and they compare favorably with anything currently being run, but Henry doesn't do this business for his health, and the market for F3D engines is considerably smaller than that for Q500/Q40, so he concentrates on what makes more $. F3D is the bastard child of racing in the USA. We don't race it as a normal event and never will as long as more easily competed venues are available to us. My prediction is that the bulk of the world's racing will soon be Q40 due to the price of admission and the complexity of aircraft being lower. In other words, more bang for the buck. Believe me when I tell you that there are lots of guys worldwide that feel the same way. DS

RE: NEW NELSON Q-40
No declaration necessary for new engines or modification to existing engines (and there have been many over the last twelve years, some increased power, some for longevity). If this were the case, we would have reams of paper on every little machining change we've done to the engines. Want an engine? I have plenty. Want a new prop? I have those, too. Dave Shadel

RE: Getting Confused here
Sorry Wm., I neglected to provide the new YS website address when I answered your E-mail. It is www.yspartsandservice.com The importation and service of YS engines and parts will be taken over in the near future by Mr. Richard Verano, a partner in the operation since 2000. You can direct your future questions to him at ysperf@charter.net Thanks, Dave

To all my friends at RCU and elsewhere: Effective February 1, 2007, I will no longer be the manufacturers rep answering YS questions on RCU. I developed a couple of good friendships through my time here, and I will still be available at Performance Specialties if you want to contact me. My website is located at www.pspec.com I'll look forward to hearing from you. Good Flying, Dave

RE: YS 120 Problem
I still suspect that the NV assembly is worn out, or after your note maybe full of some junk. Pull the NV body and make sure it's clean. Also the passages in the throttle body where the barrel feeds the carb. Lots of little nooks and crannies in a YS fuel system to plug up!

RE: YS 120 Problem
Might be a worn out NV assembly. Does the NV body bottom out against the hex on the spray bar? If so that could be the problem.

RE: prop size
More diameter, less pitch-16x6,17x4. To reduce speed, always reduce pitch. At any given rpm, less pitch will produce less speed. Good Luck.

RE: Rebuild
The tank is obviously not pressuruzing until the engine begins to run. There has to be a leak somewhere in the system. Are you sure the regulator is assembled right?

RE: YS Decals
The foam cluck keeps you from sucking a bubble. If it sucks a bubble, the engine will quit. I agree that you cannot run the tank as far down. Plan on running a 20 to 24 oz tank so you have plenty.
