RE: TA 152H Meister Scale Project Grun 4
I decided to put the hinge on the left side. I'm going to use magnets to secure the hatch and make that little snorkel thingy that goes on the right side of the hatch so you have something to pull the hatch open with.

I got after the turbo inlet... Roughed everything up with 150 grit before gluing down the resin intake lip. Applied some MicroLite and sanded everything flush, ready for primer.

Pandi... I need you to decide on how to secure the Battery hatch. I'm going to hinge one side of the hatch. If we use rare earth magnets we will need to use a tape "pull tab" like we did on your LA-7 hatch. If we use a latch, I guess we need one or two of those Uncle Bob's latch catch thingys?

A little "Pick-up" work to do while I'm waiting for more parts... I forgot to do the right side exhausts. I cut the 1/32" plywood inlay, recessed balsa fuselage sheeting, glued down and filled over with Model Magic filler.

Tried something different with the spinner screws... I bolted down the spinner back plate to my 6" rotary table. After a little head scratching and truing, I decided to shim the bottom of the rotary table to tilt it slightly back so the drill holes are flush with the spinner taper... Thus the screw heads will sit perfectly flat with the spinner cone. Took a lot of tinkering but by far this is the best job I've ever done with these pesky screws. Normally I burn up a half dozen drill bits and break a few taps doing this job with a hand drill.

Rudder and Tail wheel servos are installed. I reinforced the underside of the servos with spruce rails and capped the top with 1/8" aircraft ply. Also came up with some guides to to keep the cables off the cockpit floor.

Mounted the power expander on spruce rails down low for clearance. Plenty of room underneath for the air tanks. I rounded up some heavy duty orange horns for the rudder and tail wheel servos. Will get them mounted soon. Not sure where I hook up the fiber optic ignition kill switch?

I've gone as far as I can with the Battery hatch until we get the piano hinges mounted. Then I can final match sand the hatch and fuse together at the same time.

Pandi... What do you think about attaching the battery hatch like 262 fan hatches using a piano hinge. This way when your installing the batts, the hatch doesn't get stepped on, kicked, blown off the table etc..

Cowl Mounting... I trimmed the supplied plywood cowl mounting ring to clear the Hacker motor and attached it to the cowl using Hysol. Made three wooden stand offs that are threaded 1/4-20 on each end. I decided to put a small plywood ledge on the fuselage for the cowl to rest on. The cowl is mounted with (3) 1/4-20 nylon bolts from the inside Thus... All the cowl mounting bolts are hidden.

RE: TA 152H Meister Scale Project Grun 4
Struggling a little bit here with the battery hatch and cowl mounting... I made some light ply bulkheads to help box frame the battery hatch compartment and the hatch. This makes everything real solid. We need to decide how the hatch will be retained so I can final install everything and match sand the hatch to the fuselage joints for a good fit. What do we want to do here... latches, screws, magnets? Maybe a flop over hatch that's hinged on one side?

So I don't want anyone looking down on the plane and seeing the esc. So let me know your thoughts. [/quote] Tall order... Maybe we should just put pop tart at the bottom like we originally planned. I'll come up with screen window mesh to hide the vent hole under the cowl. Burley can just paint fake vents on top of the cowl.

Cooling... I'm thinking of cutting out the face of the cowl and putting in a ring with 4 stator blades around the spinner and moving the poptart under the top of the cowl to use the scale vents.
