RE: Jetcat throttle curve setting
ORIGINAL: furloughed ual In theory yes, you are correct. It should ( and does) limit acceleration. I was trying to help lay out some facts to explain the question. Trying to paint the big picture. I haven't seen an ECU out there on any of the major brands that is 100% automatic and self regulating. If you make the wrong or too aggressive adjustments, it won't run optimally.
Actually in theory and in reality the throttle stick position only controls what the ecu sets the pump voltage at. The acceleration time of the pump is does not change with throttle stick position no matter what kind of curve you have. If you want to change pump acceleration curves you do that a little deeper in the ecu. DR

RE: WHY GO EDF IF YOU HAVE TURBINES?
ORIGINAL: jetpilot would it be safe to say that batteries are worthless at some point? what is their life expectancy? these things will end up in a land fill someday. Is it really going green when you have a piece of toxic hazardous materiel needing of proper disposal in a year or two and possibly a thousand dollars or more down the drain? whats the used battery market like? yea, the puffed ones too? how often do the speed controllers fry? motors burn up? how about you bite the bullet and throwdown the 9K and buy the top of the line xyzdxmsmarkII and next week they come out with the xyzdxmsmarkIII completely outdating your dinasour xyzdxmsmarkII. I bought a TREX 600. Changing and charging these batteries is a real pisser for 4minute flights. Im going glo!! then you have these battery bombs you have to store in a ammo cans hoping not to burn your house down. did i mention I hate electrics. good for foamies and mini helis, not jets..lol scott
Scott, I have several sets of batteries that are three years old and still in good shape. I am on the second season on two sets with no noticeable degradation of performance. What is the life expectancy of your jet fuel? It's a constant purchase, batteries you buy all your fuel up front and if you treat them properly they last a long time. I would hazard to say that the "fuel costs" average out to about the same. LiPO's are not toxic materials BTW. NiCads certainly were with the Cadmium metal that they were made of. I have had one speed controller go poof in 5 years of flying EDF, that was when battery technology to a major jump and the speed controller was actually undersized for the current the motor was drawing. It was replaced under warranty. Never have burned up a motor, but the system I am flying is matched to controller, and batteries. I store my batteries in a metal tool case, no big deal. I am sure you have tool boxes, spare parts containers etc.... Hell you even have a trailer to store your airplanes in! So what's the big deal???? It's fun I keep seeing a lot of people complaining about charge times, do we not still have to charge our receiver, and ECU packs? I also like the fact that after flying all day I don't have the stink of jet fuel on my hands and clothes. No one is saying EDF is better than turbines, just different and for some of us quite enjoyable. Your getting old now and you don't fly as fast as you used to anyway so why not try an EDF.... DR

RE: WHY GO EDF IF YOU HAVE TURBINES?
ORIGINAL: JackD You will really like the F86. Very precise, and super easy to land. Put a gyro on the nose wheel, the narrow gear is not very forgiving. What scheme did you get? or are you doing your own paintjob?
I have the Arctic Scheme, I have flown BV's orange one several times, and Tim Redelman's so have a fair bit of stick time on them. I am putting gyros on the rudder, and ailerons. I may go back eventually and repaint it at least in a few areas. I'm picky about hatch fits etc... and The stab to fuselage fit did not come out as well as I would have liked but all in all it looks good for an ARF. I have an EVF 3 for it so it shoudl be a rocket ship. DR

I'll ditto Gerardo's comments and 8 have been flying Turbines for a long time as well. I have been flying my Electra for five years now and have a ton of flights on it. Sure I still fly my turbines but, the EDF stuff is just simple, and fun. I'm rolling out a new BVM F86 electric in the next week. Did I mention they are fun! DR

RE: Cant see my damn airplane !
Brian, I have flown for years with a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses. Mine are prescription glasses but if you don't need corrective lens their stock sunglasses are very good. I have two different pairs I wear with my contacts. They are polarized which makes a big difference. The Maui Jim's are much better than the Zurichs in my opinion. David Reid
Not lightweight by any means but I have broken it before..... Still my favorite airplane, mines 12 years old with hundreds of flights on it.

RE: BVM F 100
ORIGINAL: sleepless.ch Europe is the territory of Eurofighter, Rafale,  Bae Hawk, Albatros, Mig's and Suchoj. Primarily modern jets. Jets like F-100 Super Sabre are once in a blue moon. In the early 2000, as i have order the BVM-Hun, i found next to nothing about this Kit unless the very high price. But i had already built a F-4 Phantom from BVM. And it was highest quality and very elaborate construction (best engineering). Also the landinggear was the best on the planet and almost unbreakable. The Phantom was any penny woth. So i ask me: ''what can go wrong with the buying of a BVM-Kit? Nothing!'' With the F-100 F Super Sabre, F-4 Phantom, BVM Agressor and BVM Viper i have always a good time - during the building, maintenance and in the air mission. Till now is not very much to find about the flight charakteristics and center of gravity of the F-100 in the net. I will help to change this a little. Greetings from switzerland, Rainer Willisch
The Phantom Gear is strong but trust me it can be broken! You will love the 100 it's probably one of the best flying models out there.
