RE: Kangke Breitling
Hey Frieshoo, if you need some aftermarket landing gear for that Kangke GS300 let me know, my GS300 took a spill, and dont need the landing gear anymore, they are made by TNT, and are in perfect condition, lightweight, and strong. BTW, I have the Kangke Cap 232 with Saito 100, flies great, you will love it!!! Daz...

RE: My new 1/4 Cap 232
Update: The plane has been flying great, excellent vertical with the OS160 18X8 APC, the only problem I've had are the wheel pants that acquired some minor cracks on the bottom. I've replaced them with some Kangke hard plastic pants, these are the best pants I have seen ever, these wont break even if you throw them at a wall. Here are some new pics:

RE: reamoval of center diff??
What's the reason of this diff on the spur gear anyway? I understand it adds the possiblility that the front wheels rotate at a different speed as compared to the read wheels, but why is it there? Haven't even seen it on 1/10 scale cars. Futhermore, I installed a 2-speed transmission yesterday, but the 2 spur gears now replace the diff with the single spur gear. So, if you drive with a 2-speed transmission, you don't have a central diff anyway.... I think it's confusing...

RE: Ultrasport 1000 engine advice
A7BLDR, the plane lands beautifully, no problems at all. Everything is installed in the wing saddle area, the battery(4.8 1400mah) in right inline with the wing saddle bolts for balancing. No other mods than what I mentioned above. I installed a Dubro 20 oz tank under the hood, with a 3 line system with fuel dot. Daz...

RE: Ultrasport 1000 engine advice
I have been flying an Ultrasport 1000 now for a few years, and its an awesome flyer. I have a OS160Fx w/std muffler installed, running APC 16X10, the 160 is the perfect engine for this plane, I wouldnt use anything else. I also used a JTEC anti vibe mount because thats what the manual recommended at the time, not sure its necessary, but I did it anyway. I built mine with dual elevator servos, and tricycle landing gear. This planes will do huge loops, and is by far the best lander of all my planes, it will come in at a crawl, it will knife edge all day, and inverted flight is great. I did bend new landing gear to make it sit up taller, and purchased a fultz front landing gear for it, the stock was too flimsy. I used a seperate servo for the front gear to take the load off the rudder servo. You will love this plane, mine is on charge now for flying today!!! I will snap some shots of it today at the field, and post them later today. Daz...

RE: MODIFYING a SERVO TO HAVE MORE MOVEMENT
Is far as I remember, it think it can be modified by removing/adjusting the potentiometer inside the servo BUT! I'm pretty sure that this servo does not have the strength to pull the sails on a 40" yacht. You're talking about a standard, 13-in-a-dozen cheap servo that comes standard in the box when you buy a new transmitter. There good for 1/10 scale cars, and small planes (trainers etc) and eventually as rudder servo in smaller boats. Anything else is way more than they can handle.... It might work at first sight, until you're actually sailing and there's a gust of wind, it could actually rip all the gears inside (remember, the standard 148 futaba servo is all plastic gears!)

RE: Keel Weight Calculation for project
@ Larry: Intresting explanation. I know the specifications are rather impressive, but I believe a real W60 yacht is impressive as well right [;)] Being a scale model.... W60 are indeed designed to carry quiet some sail, and do have this large beam. They do plan however, so I guess it's intentional. Now concerning structural strength.... I have a natural tendensy to make things stronger than what's actually required, and being a custom build project, I have all the opportunities to increase the strength at crucial points (mast connection, fittings, keel attachment,.....) That's not really something I worry about. Off-course I'm going to make the hatch waterproof, and I do have some extra ideas that would make it unsinkable *no matter what happens* As far as overpowering goes... guess I can always make an extra set of sails, a larger one for mild wind conditions and a smaller when for when it's windier... PS I do have about 20 years of experience with "real" sailboats, both sailing and maintenance, so it's not that I'm getting into something I'm unfamiliar with. I'm just adding the "scale" aspect [:D] and some guidelines/calculation would be handy! PS2 Will post some pictures, however I allready know it will take years to actually finish it. I'll start with some pics of the keel ;)

Keel Weight Calculation for project
Hey everyone, I'm currently building/designing a scale RC Sailer. It's a complete scratch-build project, I made plans using some CAD computer program, and based my design upon some 2D plans from existing W60 boats (Bruce Farr Designs) Specs are LOA: 128cm / 50,4in Beam: 34cm / 13,4in Draft: 42cm / 16,54in Mast Length: 180cm / 70,85in Sail Area: Aprrox. 80dm² / 1240 sq.in. Hull will be build in fiberglass using a mould (which I'm still building) Keel will be a fiberglass / lead structure Now, I'm currently building the keel itself, but I have *no* clue on how heavy I should make it. Are there any formula's I can use (knowing the length/beam/draft/sail area etc) to calculate the required bulb weight? Or is gambling to better method, and finetuning during test-runs a better way? Guess not ;) Thanks! (edit: some measurement added)

RE: My new 1/4 Cap 232
This plane has some of the best decals I have seen, just make sure when putting them on that you use soapy water, especially on the big ones. Its kind of a pain in the arse with all the little decals cutting them out and putting them on one at at time, I just did it on a care free day, and took my time, matched them up on both sides, and used the box picture as a reference. All the decals are sticking very well. The only problem I have had with this plane is the wheel pants, they are still in pretty good shape but soon they will be coming off, since I see a few cracks in the bottom of them. Make sure to use the dual elevator option when installing the elevator servos, it is much better than the pull/pull option it offers also. Daz...

RE: My new 1/4 Cap 232
I have alot of flights on it now, and it flies great. The OS160 was definetly the ticket, I can take off, point the nose straight up, and it will climb out until I stop it. It hangs on the prop very well, and no bad snapping tendencies at all. Lands at a good pace, and killer looks, its a nice plane. Daz...

RE: Futaba 9C and others
The 9C is a wonderful radio, I dont fly sailplanes with mine, only nitro powered planes, and heli's. I would not worry about the information shown on that site with the 9C if you dont fly sailplanes. Also you can use the Hitec with the 9C, like you said you just need a trainer cord that goes from the Micro 9C to the round Hitec, here is a link to the cord you will need. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXBEK8&P=ML Daz...

RE: OS 1.60 run-in procedure
I only use Dubro Heavy Duty hinges on my 1/4 scale planes, a freind of mine has a GP Patty Wagstaff, and it came with CA hinges, and the hinges just ripped, and rudder came completely off, luckily he got it down b4 any major problems. The Dubro HD arms are made of strong plastic with metal pin in the center, and I've never had a problem with them on any of my planes. Daz...

RE: Super Craft Cap 232 .60 Firewall question?
I installed the dual elevator servo's in the wing saddle area, and used CF pushrods back to each surface, the servo's are installed in the standard location with a slight modification to the servo tray, the elevator servos are on each side with the rudder servo in the center. I like the idea of dual elevator servos, and just used std futaba 3004's servos on each side with the rudder I used hitec 625BB servo. The landing gear from TNT might not be shown on their website, they have a page on their site where they can make custom gear if they dont show it on their list of planes. I just measured the critical dimensions, and faxed/emailed to them, and they did a great job with quick turnaround. Here is a link to their site: http://www.tntlandinggear.com/ Daz...

RE: Super Craft Cap 232 .60 Firewall question?
I have the Kangke Superkraft Cap 232 sport plane, not the fun fly version. I installed a Saito 100 in mine with dual elevator servo's, pull/pull rudder, and it flies great. I also ordered landing gear from TNT for mine, the stock gear is really cheesy. I pinned my firewall, and installed dubro fuel tank, and sullivan tailwheel. I did have to add a small amount of nose weight to balance it, maybe 3 ozs. Great flying plane!!!

RE: Gp Giles 202 25% mods
Thats one of the worst things you can do to this plane is make it heavy, I have an OS160 in mine and it flies great.
