RE: HK-450GT CCPM Alloy T-Rex compatible - Part III
Hi Roger, Thanks for replying. I was just asking so we would know and give that consideration when buying blades. I've read about blades doing this and the general feeling is some people don't trust cheap blades. My thoughts are if you can get good cheap blades that are safe, get them. The aligns are nice because they are better balanced, but too expensive I agree (and for some reason I tend to crash these right away!). I buy these http://www.ebay.com/itm/4X-CARBON-325mm-Rotor-Main-3D-Blade-For-ALIGN-RC-Trex-450-pro-/170700904737?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27be911921 in several sets and find ones that are real close in weight/balane quite easily (I use them on my 450 and 500). A lot of people use these and are happy with them. However, there has been 1 report of these coming apart too that I've found. And $9 a set is pretty good IMO for this quality. Hope you get it fixed soon and have fun :) Ken

@ Edmund, very cool and great you get those opportunities. Be safe but have fun @Jonsey, crashes are part of the sport but if I may make a suggestion...start hitting TH a few feet above the ground and let it land itself, it's much better IMO @Simon, 100% 3.5 problem....If I wasn't so chickensh1t to go that fast on my 500 I'd try but it goes WAY too fast for me. The 450 has the cx and flys great fast, slow hover hands off, it only has the bad 11 thumbs . And bad news, wasn't able to program the bug in Phoenix for tonights fly! @rb, yea, bushless is always nicer...brushless motors are better too @Phil, ready for some balloon bursting?! @ALL, 9pm CST Phoenix Blathering with opening blather by rb on why NOT to do loops!
ORIGINAL: ingleburn
ORIGINAL: Kozzy_98 @Phil - Good to see you mate! Glad the planks are your more relaxed form of RC! Hopefully your maiden of your balsa plane goes well. I would assume that crashing one is not like foam in the way that foam is just CA/Hot glue it all back together again, rather balsa is crash, swear alot and buy a new one! Well, I have an annoying problem with my #1 450. When I take off, it wants to lean to the left and back at the same time. Even though I have my swash absolutely level and pitch is 0deg at mid stick. The swash also moves up and down the pitch range perfectly flat. Even so, it wants to move left and back.
Kozzy, having a dead level swash is not going to mean that your heli will fly level. To many variables that I dont understand myself. Brian and a few others only eyeball there swash for that reason and trim to suit. Ive always been pretty lucky with mine but best to use trim to make it level in a hover. Then if you want take notice of how much trim you have added then adjust the links by that much and reset trims to zero. You could also move your battery slightly forward as well which will move the C of G
+1 My 450 swash is level and hovers perfect. My 500 with swash level doesn't (even with perfect CG). Solution turn links for desired results. I too don't understand but know this works. @Hugh, nice circuits. Great video too! @RB, I'm disappointed I didn't get a comeback on the posh git shame poke...
ORIGINAL: jnail Hey guys, I haven't been around much lately due to life.... I know its a late invite, but [link=http://ncmcrc.com/]our flying club[/link] is hosting our anual fall fun-fly this weekend. I would like to invite anyone who is anywhere near northen MN to attend. It is usually a really fun event for both plankers and heli pilots. I think the highlight of the weekend this time though will be the full-contact foamy delta combat. We are hoping to start with at least 30 airplanes, and end with 1! You can find the info on the link I posted, or PM me, and I will give you more info. On a more somber note, for me anyway, I have found out that my job is ending at the end of this month after 10 years of loyalty. So I am kind of in freak-out mode over what to do next. Hopefully I will be able to keep something in the air during this time to help fend off the depression. I will try to keep in touch with everyone, but keep me in your thoughts. Jeff
Jeff, No reason to freak out. I was just let go after 21 years. And I am enjoying my free time : ) Wish I could join you but a little far ; ) Best, Ken

I'm a little surprized there's not been much response on RCG about the 3.5 pitch especially since Simon's vid's are refferenced so much. I'm not experiencing it on my 3.5 but it's on a 500 and it's had other issues ($) I've been working through. My 450 has original cx1000 and I'm not touching it! It is clear there's a problem though from watching the vids. Goodnight everyone, Ken

Seat your main gear back into place by holding the your thumbs over the rotor button and using both index fingers, push the main gear back up into position! b
+1 This can definately cause your problem. The main shaft should be sticking out the bottom of the main gear about 1mm. There should be no play if you move the main gear up and down.
ORIGINAL: Edmund2 Hi guys back in the modern world again. Did get some time to fly the mcpx and it was a joy doing so. Had to make some repairs to the canopy after a few hard landings but it is still flying great. Have a great picture (5.8Meg in size) of my son's BOL making a crossborder flight - suppose it can officially be considered an international air space violation- from the Namibia to the Angola side of the river. Did not land it as any perception problem may have caused it to topple over on the grass 150 meters away on the other side even if I had the bino's on it most of the time. We did a range test before we tried it and had a full lipo in it. We were about 25 meters higher in Namibia and on the way back power had to be increased constantly to get the lift. Likely the first BOL to fly in Angola but can obviously not confirm that. Edmund
Welcome back. Sounds like you had a blast!

You can stress them by automaticallyu running them as well as test the speed (this is how I found out my 510's don't perform to spec : ( but my 65's do better than spec ; ) So if you have a zyx, a great addition, if you don't have a fbl, then a great time to get a zyx!
