RE: What kind of RETRACTS are on the market today
Hello Dave, As I said, I had prototypes in my hand at the WRAMs show this past weekend, and they looked to share many parts with the new all-metal mechanical retracts. The gray plastic ones never did it for me, but these new units felt right. take care, Dean

RE: What kind of RETRACTS are on the market today
Hi Gang, This last weekend, I had a prototype Robart electric 60-sized retract unit in my hand. It looks like a winner in my book. Made me wish that modern Pattern ships still had retracts. Regards, Dean P.

RE: Mystery Banshee Glass Fuselage
Hi All, The J&J Banshee also has a shorter thail than any of the "real" Banshees built by Jim Martin. The tail moment was shortened so the fuse sides would fit in the box. The kit planes often exhibited a tail wiggle that Jim's ships did not. The FM plans have it right. take care, Dean Pappas

Hello Jim, Yes, the CG would travel with the wing. Tony, I should have known that you'd know about this effect. Sorry I missed it in the never-ending thread! Now I need to find the arcane NACA report that has numbers from back when YB-49's were planned to have contra-rotating pushers. It's buried somewhere! Regards, Dean

RE: Contra Rotating Propeller Drive for f3a 2m Pattern Planes
Hi Jim, As it turns out, just after the Worlds in Ireland, one F3A technical sub-committee member suggested that big electric props were gyros, and therefore E-power should be illegal in F3A! You just can't make this stuff up ... Happy New Year, Gang Dean P.

RE: OPS 60 in Classic Pattern Saturn
Hello Ralph, As I read your original post, I thought, " sounds like an overly short pipe." Your small prop experiment bears this out. Lengthen it 1/2 maybe 3/4 of an inch. Also, your pipe pressure tap location in the header is less than optimal: you' would benefit from putting the tap at the high point of the pipe. Regards, Dean Pappas

RE: Building a built-up pattern stab and wing
Hi All! This is great stuff. For a slight twist on the technique, you might look up Bob Hunt's Lost Foam technique of building built-up wings and tails. There is a video as well at Robins View. http://www.airbornemedia.com/store/rv-lostfoam.htm There is also a killer on how to mold compound curve balsa shells. http://www.airbornemedia.com/store/rv-balsamold1.htm Regards, Dean Pappas.
