RE: Vintage
Nice find. I know it's an old sterling model as stated on the instruction. Which makes it about 50 year's old since sterling went out of business around the 1950's. Estes Rocket company bought the right's to them but they haven't released anything from sterling. Hope you can get it going again.

RE: USS Missouri Build
The original Sterling model which is 55 1/2" long and a beam of 6" used either a electric motor or a small gas one. Not sure what size i can look on the plan's i have. But either way it would plan out and case a pretty good wave behind it. I have a new camera and a tripod now so hopefully i can get it back out next spring and take a longer video with the wake behind it. I have mine set up to squirt water of the front 6" Gun. (water pump installed on the bottom of the hull and the hosed to the inside of the gun. Am also planning to get a smoke generator and maybe install some speaker's to hook up to my Ipod. I bought both of mine form dheinmuller first one was in picec's as you can see the other in a very good shape (motor weighted a ton lol).

RE: How Do You Lay Your Fiberglass?
What i meant for tissue paper is like the stuff tracing paper is made out of or looks like it. Am doing a fully 55 1/2" battleship (Hull only) but keeping it light weight. Yea am sticking it on my USS Missouri i have enough to do the hull a couple of times. My steps are as follow: Wet hull with fiberglass resin place my tissue paper or tracing paper over it. Smooth out the wrinkles and bubble's. Dry. Again Overlap the first layer with the same stuff and wet it . then let that dry and maybe do a third layer. It may sound silly but it's worth the try. :) After it all has dried well enough hand sand any spot's i need to. Also when you say light mat how many oz. should i be looking for. Planning to buy it from ebay or my local hobby store.

Am working on a 55 1/2" hull. I was thinking of tissue paper to make it light then layer that.

How Do You Lay Your Fiberglass?
I had a question about fiberglass. Do you lay it in one giant piece, patches, or other. Can you also use like tissue paper (which is thinner and light weight). Just a thought.

RE: Balloon kid
As i looked at the balloon in flight it. It didn't seam to move like anyone was in it at all. If it was there would be a lump of some sorts at the bottom but as you seen in the video it was flat. If anyone has played with a balloon's in some sort's of a way you would seen that also. I agree with Banzai55 about the lift and all. :)

RE: General Motor Advice please
(1)The prop shaft can be a different size then your motor shaft. I have a 540 motor with a 3/32' shaft and my porp shaft is 1/4". (2)Mine are threaded but i have used JB Weld to place one on. :) (3)Steel tubing can be used as a stuffing tube instead of brass. Fount in some Hobby Shop's or hardware store. (3 1/2)Should i use a U-joint? Yes to get the size you need to match up your prop shaft and your motor shaft. (See photo's) (4) I don't know what depth you can go with a shafting tube type. I guess it matter's how much marine grease you put in to it. (5) http://www.rcboataholic.com/hardware/prop_chart.htm
