RE: Central RC Hobbies 73 inch Mystic Build
Hey guys, It's been awhile. I took a break from the boat build but have hit it hard the last month or so. I am hoping to have her ready to run in a couple weeks. I still need to install fuel tanks, cut the window out, install fuel fillers, and paint. I will most likely wait until after I run it before I paint. Here is a link to my linkage setup. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MBP1OHTDXY

Very nice Matt. Would you happen to have photos of the rudder linkage? Thanks... Del

RE: Central RC Hobbies 73 inch Mystic Build
I got some exhaust from gizmo and some exhaust flange outlets from gas rc products. The end of the pipe and the exhaust outlet are the same size. Does anyone know where I can get teflon tube or whatever people use to couple the pipe and the exhaust outlet? Thanks Del

RE: 72
I think if it was me and I was trying to save money I would keep my eye out on craigslist. The engine in the photo is a normal polini pocket bike engine with a custom engine mount. The engine mount really is not that complicated to make....just need a few basic tools like, a drill press, belt sander, metal band saw. The gearbox in the photo is from MHZ. Here is another way to do a simple mount with the same engine...just no gearbox.
ORIGINAL: svranger25 what is an engine thats a step up from a weed eater engine, without it being rc devoted that will work, chainsaw.... pocket bike...
You could use a watercooled Blata or Polini Pocket bike engine. I'm sure you could use an air cooled pocket bike engine in the right hull. The engine shown is a Polini pocket bike engine.

RE: Zenoah G43LD in boat?
Thank you. No, those setups were in two different Expresscraft deep v boats I built. Four bolts from the bottom should make it pretty easy to mount. If it was me I would get a hull that would look good with no hatch. That way you could leave the engine air cooled out in the open. There are a lot of guys on here that have built a lot more boats than me and have more information. I still ask a lot of questions myself. Del
ORIGINAL: JONMUIR Here is a pic of the engine:<a target=''_blank'' href=''http://images.rcuniverse.com/gallery/photos/551918/thumb-219900.jpg''>
I think you should go for it! Even if it's turning reverse direction you can find a prop that will work. It sounds like the engine has enough power. You could build an engine mount yourself. Below are a couple different style mounts that you could make with some basic tools. Kind of hard to tell how your engine currently is mounted. Del

RE: Expresscraft GTX questions
ORIGINAL: Ultimate48 As Del said the Expresscraft GTX is a great hull and can take the rough stuff, it's big to handle though ! I used Bonzi's CZ drive with Zenoah inlines 58 MPH any time with a top speed of 61 MPH I think the MHZ S-6 scale look can't be beat, but is a loss of performance. There is no class for the GTX to race in so go for what you like you can't go wrong ! For performance I would think the trimax surface drive would be best and still look very cool. Keep us posted on the build ! Love to see it ! A few pic's of my GTX . Steve That sure is a great looking GTX Steve!

RE: Central RC Hobbies 73 inch Mystic Build
Thanks Steve. I have not picked a paint scheme yet. I would like to try to paint it myself but I will have to get some tips before I try it. I may have this boat on the water sooner than I was thinking. I just got done ordering most of the parts I will need to finish the boat except the radio stuff, throttle linkage and some other small things. I look forward to seeing your build. Mart...Thats a great idea with the air scoops. I will keep it in mind. Del

RE: Expresscraft GTX questions
The GTX from Expresscraft is a great hull! I have built two of them. One had a Polini clone engine with a single MH$ s6 drive. The other had a real polini connected to a MH$ gearbox and two surface drives. As far as performance the gearbox with twin surface drives hooked up a lot better. There seemed to be a lot of cavitation with the single S6 but my boat was also heavy. I know a couple guys on here have done well with the S520, surface drive and a big prop. They are hitting speeds of over 70mph in some medium size cat hulls. I think If I was going to build another one I would try that setup. There is a certain "Cool" factor to twin counter rotating drives though! Here are a couple pics of the back of my boats.
ORIGINAL: rcguy1411 but that wasen t an option to the question
I said I might go with a different type of vent. The ones I came up with do not seem to be real popular. I do value peoples opinions on here. I know it can be tough to make everybody happy. I have seen some boats with slots and bigger openings with screen that look good to me. Thanks... Del

RE: Central RC Hobbies 73 inch Mystic Build
Thanks Paul. I do like the way Sonic does the big open vents in the back. I still have some time to think about my options. It would be cool if Sonic sold the border frame they use for the vents. The other thing I have seen on a few boats is just cutting some slots.

RE: Central RC Hobbies 73 inch Mystic Build
Guys I need some opinions here! It seems I get lots of opinions when I dont need them and not very many when I ask! Anyway, I made up some outlet vent things for the back of the boat. I took some photos of them sitting in different locations. I am wondering what location looks best?? What do you guys think? I could also go with a different type of vent all together. I was just trying to see what I could come up with.
ORIGINAL: km7639 Hi Del They look really good, where did you get your ducts from? I've been making some for my cat from a wooden plug. Not the easiest job i've done. Brian
Thanks Brian. The ducts are the large ones from MHZ. The air scoops next to the window are also from MHZ. I didn't get them from MHZ USA...I got them from the German site. I have heard of problems with us distributor for MHZ.

I installed 4 air ducts. It can be a bit nerve racking carving on a perfectly good hull.

RE: Central RC Hobbies 73 inch Mystic Build
OK guys...I need some opinions here. If you look at the photos below I have shown the approximate location I would like to put the ducts and air scoops. I have not cut any holes yet. The air scoops are located in about the spot they will need to be to cover the spark plugs. The outlet vents on the back of the boat are just some cardboard tubes I cut. I was not going to use cardboard but find some thin wall plastic pipe or fiberglass tube to make something like the cardboard shown. What do you guys think???

RE: Thinking about building twin inline cat, any hull suggestion?
Mike...The Central rc hobbies mystic is not a copy of any hull out there. It is a new hull. It does look similar to a lot of the cats out there but with slight differences. It just came out not long ago and I don't think there is a finished running boat yet. Here is a link the the website. http://centralrchobbies.net/Services.html I have not had a MHZ hull but I have heard both good and bad. Right off the bat I think the bad would be price and shipping cost. The hull I have from Central RC is a nice boat and I have nothing to complain about. The price is very good in my opinion. Del

RE: Thinking about building twin inline cat, any hull suggestion?
I don't know how it runs yet but I have a 73 inch Mystic hull from Central rc hobbies. It's a great looking boat. The sponsons are not wide enough for the rcmk s520 but will fit inline zenoahs. The pricing and quality seem good on this hull. I think my hull was half the price of the Mystic from MH$ As far as speed. There are a couple guys on Jims that have stock twin rcmk engines and they are over 70mph. Here is a link to a video of one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnvBLri8PB4 Del
