ORIGINAL: gaRCfield So Jeti Spin or Advance? Does it matter, and is 77A what people use or 90?
I used the 77 Advance Pro for a number of years with my Hacker inrunner... it only draws 64amps at full throttle. With my Pletty Advance I went to the Jeti Spin 99, even though I'm only drawing 72amps I didn't want to take any chances.

RE: 3rd annual Harry Gould Memorial Pattern Contest - Hemet, CA May 26-27
ORIGINAL: Silent-AV8R We use a scoring program that enters scores immediately after a flight using a smart phone app at F3J contests. Of course that entry is much simpler with only the flight time and landing score to be entered. But the concept is sound and proven. It updates to a website that can be seen by anyone with the URL and Internet access within seconds of the score being posted.
Very cool - I've wanted to do this for many years in pattern but my programming expertise is limited to "paying someone to do this for me". [:D] With someone like Peter doing this it may actually become a reality. Who created the F3J app? Was it Sheldon Smith?

Jeff, Welcome to D7! The last I heard you were in North Carolina or thereabouts... where are you now? How's the old man doing? I'm bummed that the Creswell contest isn't happening this year - there were a bunch of us that were looking forward to heading up north to see the McClellalan's and your Dad at the contest and to enjoy the camaraderie there...

RE: What's going on with the NSRCA?
ORIGINAL: CLRD2LAND Hi Ryan, Â To be honest, I'm not exactly sure. Â I think the editor puts everything each officer sends him together and in an a, b, c format and then sends it on to the publishing company who uses Adobe InDesign to publish it. Â I use that software daily myself so it's not much to change it around for online purposes. Â Once put together, our editor sends it back to us to proof and then back to the publisher as a final. Â How Dick and Jon Bruml and the publisher work everything I don't know.
The K-Factor editor is responsible for collecting all the articles (from the board and other parties) and advertisements (from the ad manager). The editor will then review each article and ensure it is grammatically correct and make any necessary modifications to the content. Once satisfied, the editor will send all of this to the publisher who is responsible for formatting the issue (placement of ads, etc). Once this is completed, a draft copy is sent to the editor, ad manager and a few others for review. Any changes are communicated back to the editor and these are then communicated back to the publisher... another proof is then sent back to editor (and others) for review. Once the editor is happy they will tell the publisher to print the magazine - the secretary will send the mailing list to the publisher at this time.

It's also appreciated! Sad to realize after I put my plane away after the 5th round that I had just flown my last flight at BARCS. Almost made me want to go ahead and fly the 6th and also a few more after the contest as it was perfect weather and the view of the bay is so hard to beat. The field and contest will be missed!!!! RE: 18th Pattern by the Bay Contest - Richmond, CA
Wow! What a weekend for a contest at BARCS. This was, sadly, our last contest at the field as we'll be shutting down the club on June 4th due to the Parks Department turning our wonderful site into a marsh. Oh well... this is one time I disagree with the environmentalists. We had incredible weather for our event - temps were in the high 70's all weekend with little to no wind. 15 pilots came out to fly and I want to thank each and every one of you for supporting our event over the years. We also had a couple of other pilots (Mark Alexander and Ron Davies) that came out and helped to judge over the weekend and their support is also appreciated. Thank you to all those that judged and to my good friend and flying buddy, Adrian Wong, for again assisting me and helping out with the event for the past years... 18 years is a long time to host an event and unfortunately it took us 18 years to get the weather right! [:D] Scores have been posted on the [link=http://nsrca.us/index.php/contest-results/2012/d7]NSRCA website[/link] but I'll post them here as well... 4 more flights yesterday - playing with the CG some more... I moved the battery a little more forward and I think it helped. I'm still working on the snaps - they are pretty close now. Once I've got the plane trimmed out I'll post CG location. BTW, I have not touch wing incidence at all - I'm flying with it the way it was set at the factory.
ORIGINAL: TonyF The Gee Bee only comes in a bind and fly. The micro receiver is a unit that has the rudder and elevator servos, the ESC, the 3-axis gyro and the RX all on one micro board. No way to hook up a separate RX. You Futaba guys would have to get a DSM2 module or a Spektrum or JR DSM2 capable TX. Here's a link to a really low cost one that will fly the Gee Bee and other bind-n-fly models well. http://www.horizonhobby.com/products/dx5e-dsmx-5-channel-transmitter-only-mode-2-SPMR5510
Thanks Tony... I was looking on the Horizon site for the TX modules but they are out of stock on them. I may have to get the DX5E instead...
ORIGINAL: Passport1
ORIGINAL: Doug Cronkhite Sounds like a lot of fun guys. I don't know if I'll have airplanes by then, but I hope the idea really takes off!
Come up for the Gee Bee race, at the least and we could always use you as a judge for Masters and F3A. Also the Sat. night party at Kirt's house is a must. BTW as of last weekend he is officially off the market. Kirt proposed to Andrea (I hope that I spelled that right) and she said yes. Not sure on the date yet but from what they told me its going to be one heck of a party. As for the figure 8 course, I guess we can use that in the Gold Race only. I am sure we will do some testing between now and then to get a better handle the number of laps and how big of course to run. I am sure we will get it figured out. BTW Chris F., I have already ordered your plane so get Lasik your flying. Derek and Jon don't laugh they come in lots of 3 so you guys are in as well LOL Remember its all in fun. We are also going to have the noon demos put on by one of the best 3D Heli Pilots in the world. I spoke with Dave Dahl, Kyles Dahl's father today and he told me their calender was open on our date so he should be able to attend. The coolest part is he has been flying airplanes lately and has a 50cc Slick so he can enter the contest as well. I am going to go checkout a few hotels in the next couple days and will get that info posted. And last but certainly not least Mike and Jean if your out there can you PM me your number, I have asked several people for it and no luck. C
In looking at the Gee Bee plane - does it come in a provide your own RX and fly mode or is it only bind-n-fly?
