RE: mini hyper new shell
an exacto knife, lexan scissors or a dremel with a high speed cutter can trim those bodies in a snap. I use an exacto knife with a curved blade. Just score the body along the lines, bend the lexan along the line back and forth and it pops off clean. For the wheel wells after I cut those out I take some fine grit sand paper to them to make them nice and smooth.

RE: Brushless Exotek RC18 gearing question
I run a 15pinion 60 spur in my rc18B. It has great acceleration and enough top end for the straight a ways. Try the 17 tooth pinion and see if it handles the way you like. If you want more low end then try a 16.

RE: Mini-T Motor Problems
Pull the motor, hook it up to a 9 volt battery and see what happens. If it runs, then check your ESC might be toasted. Also check all your gears in the tranny. Sounds to me like a good excuse to upgrade to a brushless system if you havnt already. I'm waiting for my wife to burn out the stock motor in her mini-baja so I can throw an eZrun in it.

RE: thinking about a 1/18th'er
when I was 7 I had a Blackfoot. I drove it into a wall. I had to test the bumper... it passed! Whatever you buy, just make sure it has a good bumper! Kids like to ram things (hell I still like to ram things, that's why I have a slash... lotsa bumpers!). I'd personally go with a vendetta or an rc18 based car. Parts are readily available and they are strong little cars. I hold my mini T in my hand and feel like I might break it by looking at it. I'm sure the Mini-DT is better having a more up to date chassis. Really you want to buy something that you can get parts for easily. If you have a LHS look at what they carry the most parts for on hand. If not then look online and see what has the biggest selection of replacement/option parts. www.thetoyz.com is a great place to start. I have just about every part that RPM makes on my RC18 and it is damned near bullet proof. I'd recommend starting with an RPM bumper :D

RE: Big Problem Please HELP!
Yup, battery problem. The low voltage cut off is kicking in and shutting down your thottle. My mongoose did that when I ran a radioshack propulse battery pack. The pack just couldnt supply enough burst power. I bought a flightpower lipo off hobbycity for 6 bucks, problem solved.

RE: Which brushless to drop in?
I have a novak mongoose in my rc18B. It runs great, silky smooth great low throttle control. That said it is more on the expensive side but I think it is worth it. That being said I am looking at the ezruns to put in my other rc18s and in my mini-T. Let's face it, most of the esc's and brushless motors are made in china anyways. The price is right for bashing fun on the ezruns. The minis are so small you dont need some insane super high quality 9000kv motor to make them run down the street in a hurry. Unless you are buying a sensored system or a motor from a specialty shop that hand builds them then you wont see any major difference in the chinese branded motors versus a mamba. That said it is always nice to buy from a reputable company for support and warranty sake and to support your favorite brands so they dont go out of business. That's why I buy from Novak and Tekin.

RE: Pics of my Mini Hyper STe and Mini E REVO 56k BEWARE !
the revo is the oddest monster truck I have ever seen. That goes for the full size and the mini. but wtf do I know, I'm a clodbuster kind of guy. That said, I dont think the mini revo is that mini at all either. When "mini's" start getting to be close to the size of my rc10, they lose the mini factor. Here I thought the RC18s were big for a mini! Guess I got used to the micro rs4 being 1/18 scale...

RE: 1/16 revo or 1/10 slash for bashing?
I say Slash. Damn thing is almost indestructible. Parts are super cheap and carried everywhere. The truck looks awesome tearing *** and throwing roost all over the place, the out of control body roll adds to the fun for me. It's hard to beat the fender to fender racing the slash offers if you got a buddy (or you have two slash's for someone else to drive). This being a mini forum I think you will get more responses for the mini though, so keep that in mind.

RE: Parma Faskolor Pearl White
well, I got home last night and the paint looked whiter. but you are right, the color is really weak. I sprayed another (light) coat of it and it went back to looking silver. Tonight I'm going to back it with white and let it sit up for 24 hours. Yesterday evening I took the body outside and looked at it through the sunlight and you could see that it was indeed "drying" white. I'll post some pics of it before/after I back it with the white tonight. I bet it will have the effect I am looking for under natural sunlight with the over spray film off the body.

Parma Faskolor Pearl White
So I go to spray the Pearl White on my truck body last night and it came out silver. Just wondering if anyone else has used this color before and has any tips for using this paint? I want to know if I messed up (by not mixing/stirring/shaking it well enough, even though I thought I had), or if I got a Pearl silver bottle with a Pearl white label on it. Kinda miffed as my body looks terrible now, but I can live with my mistakes if it was my fault it looks silver instead of a pearl white. I thought maybe this stuff goes on real thin and you have to back it with white, but Parma usually mentions things like that on their site. I'm using the pearl white as the base color/primary color for my truck. Am I supposed to just put one a thin coat of this stuff, or nice solid coats like I would do a normal base color?

I'm rocking steel diff and input gears from thetoyz and one of their delrin spur gears. So far it holds up to my bashing abuse. I really want to get a corr truck body when thetoyz gets em back in stock. The mongoose system just doesnt want to fit under the buggy body.

RE: in pismo with a broken pinion ugh
what'd you use!? a powerdrill with no clutch? Probably a flaw in the metal that allowed it to break when you over tightened. I'd call Traxxas up and tell them, "hey the pinion broke after I ran a pack through it". They will send you another one for free, they sent me a bearing carrier for my slash when it broke on the first pack. /shrug

RE: what would be good 1/18 entry car?
He's asking for a 1/18... so I'll ignore the 1/16 Traxxas cars (which are more like 1/12 anyways, things are bigger in Texas ya know). I have a few rc18 (two rc18Rs and one rc18b FT), I also have a Mini-Baja (basically a mini-T). I love my factory team rc18b. I dont even touch the other minis anymore. The main reason is because I have basically every RPM part they make for the car, a dp gear cover, and drag link, and a nice sensored novak brushless system. It is great. That said... I wish I would have bought a Vendetta Rally (although that wasnt out when I bought my rc18Rs). The vendettas are just top quality cars. I am biased towards AE which is why I purchased the rc18s. I love my rc10, and I love the fact that I can still buy parts for a 20 year old car off the shelf or at Tower. I'm sure I will be able to get parts for my rc18s down the road because AE's support is excellent. I guess I am saying, take my opinions with a grain of salt, but I have seen those vendettas perform and they rock. Out of the box I think they are the better car, but there are so many rc18 parts out there the sky is the limit if you like to wrench and tinker. I'd say if you are dead set on 1/18 you cant go wrong with a Losi Mini-T (huge after market), RC18, or a Vendetta. I bought a propulse for someone as a gift, it was cool, but I know they will never do some serious bashing (oxymoron) or racing, so it's fine for them... and it was like 30 bucks... so I'm not out all that cash.

RE: OFFICIAL RC18MT/B/T THREAD
Sounds like your diffs are slipping like a fool... I doubt you would make such a simple mistake, but I assume your diff is tightened properly. Do you have too much lube in there? I had a problem once where the diffs would loosen themselves after the first trigger pull on another vehicle. Turns out I thought I tightened the diff enough, but I didnt. The manual and I had different definitions of "until you cant turn anymore". Doesnt help that the truck weighs like 11 pounds...

RE: KMI 09 Air Filters
See kevin, and this is why I havnt bought a KMI 09... :D Just kiddin, I still want one over a traxxas 1/16... Dont suppose you could make an air filter out of a 1/8 or 1/10 air filter? Or is it some odd proprietary shape? I'm just tryin to bounce some ideas off the wall. Going to sell one of my Kyosho Landmax's. I convinced the wife to let me get another vehicle if I get rid of one.

RE: Which mini handles multiple terains better(grass, sand, rocky dirt)?
Losi Mini rock Crawler can tackle anything in your backyard living room. Or a duratrax Cliff climber... they are so cheap right now and great for just messing around. they just dont hold up well when you start putting insane power through the drive train. Hard to complain about something that is 30 bucks from Tower though...

RE: OFFICIAL MINI E-REVO THREAD!!!
ORIGINAL: dacaur
ORIGINAL: Wild YFZ 450
ORIGINAL: dacaur First off, Calm down people, there is no need for name calling or being overly rude.
ORIGINAL: fox23
ORIGINAL: Wild YFZ 450
ORIGINAL: klaze Running 2s lipo will give you better performance over 7.2v NIMH Even tho it is the same voltage the Lipo can deliver the power more efficiently. Grammar is not important. It's impossible to find a company that doesn't exist because it was spelled wrong.
You are WRONG, Lipo can deliver more power because it has less voltage drop when you are on the throttle, Not because of efficency, which would because of the motor, Nice try though.
wouldnt less voltage drop in acceleration on a lipo make it more efficient that a nimh battery? ...therefore making it a more efficient battery because of less voltage drop.. ..your basically just adding to his statement, so he isnt actually wrong he just never said why it was more efficient.
Exactly what I was going to post.
That is completely incorrect. Efficiency is the ratio of energy used to the amount of heat that was waste. Like a Neu motor is 95% efficient which means 95% of the heat is turned into energy. Efficiency has nothing to do with Ni-mh or Lipos it would be the connectors/ battery bars ETC that would have any effect on the battery between Lipo and Ni-mh.
Since when does efficiency apply ONLY to motors? Efficiency is basically the ratio of input to output. I don't recall seeing in the dictionary the words ''heat waste''...[8|] Im going to take an rc airplane as an example because the amp draw is much more consistent than a car. Its a known FACT that you can have an 1000mah NIMH or nicad pack, and a 1000Mah Lipo pack, both of similar voltage and in the same plane with no changes other than battery, you can fly for a longer time with the lipo pack, considerably longer, because it has less voltage drop under load. In order to do the same amount of work, (fly the same airspeed) the higher your volts are, the lower the amp draw. The ONLY change is the battery pack, both batteries hold the same mah, yet the lipo flies longer. So, if efficiency is the ratio of input to output. And input 1000mah to both battery packs, and the output is a longer flight time with a lipo pack. What happened? The motor didn't suddenly become more efficient, because its the same motor in both tests, so the only conclusion is that that the lipo battery is more efficient.
My 2cents. Also in your above example realize that the lipo weighs alot less than the nimh. Saving weight is another big advantage of lipo! (I know you know this, but dont leave it out of your examples for the new to electric people). Power to weight ratio changes considerably when you go from nimh to lipo. Good example, My Clodbuster on 14 nimh (16.8)volts cells is fast. My Clodbuster on a 3s Lipo (11.1 volts) is faster. The 2 pound weight difference helps out!

RE: Anyone NOT getting a Traxxas 1/16 and why not?
I am not buying one because for 300 bucks I rather buy an SCX-10 or a crawler king. That's my official reason. My real reason is because they are 1/16, and when traxxas does 1/16 it's probably closer to 1/12 which is closely approaching 1/10 and really isnt a mini anymore. If I wanted a "mini" that was slightly smaller than my rc10 then I would get the Hyper ste. I already own 2 slashes and they are ridiculous fun.

I use an FMA Cellpro Multi4 on my lipos and other packs, I have a Duratrax Onyx 220 (or 230 I cant remember, the next one down that doesnt do lipos) for when I dont want to bring my atx power supply along. The Cellpro Muilti4 is awesome for the money. I think it was 60-70 bucks. It charges everything!
Those new era ones will not work. those are for using t-maxx wheels on your clod. You need the other way around. The clod has 12mm hexes that fit into a plastic adapter with like 5 holes in it. that part fits onto the clod wheel. Your T-maxx has a hex that plugs straight into your wheel (a one peice design instead of two pieces like a clod wheel). It might be cheaper to just get some clod style wheels that are hex keyed on the back that will bolt right onto the hexes of your t-maxx. I thought Imex makes some like that but I could be mistaken.
