RE: New 3D plane for 120ax or Jett 120L?
I've seen the videos of the Mojo, great flying plane. I've also been flying an OMP 40 size Katana for about 5 years, dang thing is still alive!

New 3D plane for 120ax or Jett 120L?
Howdy all! I've recently lost my Sig Mayhem due to a bad battery and it took my YS110 with it. I have an OS 1.20ax and a Jett 1.20L sitting on the shelf, what 3D would you folks suggest? I really loved the Mayhem, and am tempted to find another. Perhaps there is something new or better? I also enjoy profiles planes for the ease and fun they provide. I was think the Jett L was for pattern planes, could always go that route to just run the thing..... Thanks!

RE: Digital servo batteries and charger?
The 2600 NiMH sounds like a perfect fit, I'm running 6 digital servos, plus standards for the air retracts and throttle. Where did you buy your battery packs? Thanks

RE: Digital servo batteries and charger?
thanks for all the info everyone. I'm not worried about weight, even with an O.S. 1.60 on the nose it's a bit tail heavy. I'm just looking for a battery that will give me half a dozen flights now and then, and wouldn't require me to buy a separate charger.

Digital servo batteries and charger?
I know this has been convered a hundred times before, but so many choices have my mind spinning. I've finished building the KMP September Fury model, and have installed JR digital servos. I know I need a bigger battery for this, perhaps 1400 or 2000. But with NiCad and MiMH, I'm not sure which would be best, and what can I charge with my standard charger, and what needs a different charger? Thanks!

Evader jumpy - bad motor?
Howdy all, I've been flying airplanes since I was a kid, but never played much with the cars. I thought I'd get a couple for my son and I to play with and the Evader seemed like the way to go. But now both of them have the same problem: The jump back and forth but won't run. Sometimes one with run backwards when it shouldn't, and the adjustment on the transmitter can't fix it. In the old days, I'd guess the speed controller, but I doubt esc will do this. So I'm assuming the motors have quit. Is there a better motor to drop in these trucks without having to change a bunch of other parts? Any advice appreciated, thanks!

RE: YS CLUB
I have had a 110fz for a few years now, and have yet to get it tuned up just right. First was in a big Bearcat, and now in a Mayhem 3D. I was in the process of really taking my time to get it just right when the battery died and the whole thing lawn darted into the dirt. Doesn't look hurt at all, but I'm going to send it in and have it checked and get seals replaced. Then it will go into a NEW Mayhem. Problem was I could never get the idle to be reliable. Always had tons of power, but every landing was a deadstick. But I shall stay determined to have it run like it should!!

RIP, Mayhem......
Even with my low battery indicator I lost my Mayhem 3D to a dead battery yesterday. Either I didn't hear the indicator beeping, or it just didn't beep. Was a sad sight to watch indeed. It was a great plane to fly, tracked perfectly, no trim needed for inverted flight, well built, stable, etc. So is there any reason I shouldn't just buy another one? Have there been better planes since I built it 3 years ago? Motor is a YS 110 (after it gets sent in a checked out), or possibly an OS 120ax that I have sitting in a box in need of a home. Thanks!

RE: KMP September Fury
This thread might be long dead, but I've just started to assemble a Sept. Fury and will certainly agree the instructions lack a lot! What were KMP's plans to install the split flaps? I am quite confused.

RE: Sig Mayhem 3D ARF
Glad to see this thread is still alive. I have been trying my best to learn how to tune my YS 110, and I'm close but every landing so far has been deadstick. But that's the motor and the operator. while in the air the plane flies great, seems to have a few tendencies of a pattern plane. Everything seems so solid and right on track, if I ever get the motor running right it might replace my OMP model as my favorite.

RE: YS 110fz idle problems
I think it holds idle for a little bit and dies. I would fly for a bit and then cut to idle as I turned to land, would always be a deadstick. Makes it hard to 3D when you can't trust the motor, he he!

YS 110fz idle problems
I have a YS 110fz that has had about 1.5 gallons of fuel through it. Running a 17 x 4W prop, my high end peaks at 9500, so I drop that down to 9200. Around 4000 it runs real smooth without any surging, I have adjusted the regulator slightly and the mid to high transition is good. My problem is that I can't get it to idle. On the ground it will idle fine and then just quit, but sometimes it seems just fine until I get in the air. Every time I idle down, it dies. I have adjusted the air bleed screw in and out, sometimes it gets better, but it's never good. I'm running powermaster YS 20/20 fuel. Could it perhaps just be too much prop in the air? thanks.

RE: YS 1.10 revival?
Gary, My 110 sat for a more than a year or two different occasions and wouldn't run. Both times I just unscrewed the regulator and cleaned it with fresh fuel real well and screwed it back in. Worked great both times.

RE: 110fz run time?
Thanks Paul. I have yet to get this motor to run for 10 minutes, but I think I'm getting close. Depending on the weather, I may learn this weekend. I know it's just learning the motor and how to get the settings right. I will plan on 10 minute flights, should be more than enough to get the knees shaking!

RE: 110fz run time?
Thanks so much for the info Chris. Will figure 8 to 10 minutes of runtime. Hate to put all the time and money into a plane only to have it die an untimely death due to fuel starvation! Only have a few flights on her so far, still working on getting the motor to run for the entire flight!

RE: ys 110 s
There is something incredibly exciting about buying and receiving a YS engine[:D]
So true indeed! My YS 110 came as a result of building a race plane and talking to a couple of buddies that come from across the country to stay for the Reno Air Races. They said we'll buy your motor as payment for staying 2 weeks at your house. So I suggested a large 2 stroke and image my surprise when I opened the box to find a YS! Like a kid at Christmas, couldn't get it running fast enough!

Thanks for the links. My YS is spinning a 17 x 4W at 9300, so I think it will be a good match.

Spinner for 17 x 4w prop?
I have a YS 110 in my Sig Mayhem 3D and need a spinner that will fit using a 17 x 4w prop. Could anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks! P.S. That motor is a screamer!

110fz run time?
Howdy gang! I have had this 110 for a number of years, just haven't gotten much use out of it. Had it in a TT rare bear model, but could never get it tuned right. (first 4 stroke, first ys motor). But now I have it a Sig Mayhem 3D and thanks to the "down and dirty" tuning page, I think she is ready to roll! Peaked out at 9500 swinging a 17 x 4 wide prop, richened that down to 9300. Regulator holds good at 4000 and I have nice idle just under 2000. But the question is how long of a run time will I get from a 15 oz tank of powermaster ys 20/20 fuel? It will be 3D flying so maybe an average of half throttle of less (only weighs 8lbs). Just don't want to lose my new plane and this motor due to an empty tank! Thanks, DT

RE: Tower Engines
With the guys I fly with, we have all sorts of motors. I'll agree with most of the guys above, tower motors are a dang good bang for the buck. A buddy has the .75 and it has been through hell and back, and never misses. There are a few others with .75s and .46s, they always fire right up and never quit. Because of the planes they are in, I can't say much about the power in terms of all out speed or 3D vertical performance.

RE: Sig Mayhem 3D ARF
I've haven't gone flying or fishing for about 6 months, I like the new version of fly fishing! My Mayhem sits idle in the garage with the fishing gear, guess I should make a decision. Flying weather has been perfect, but I hear the walleye are hitting great less than 30 minutes from here. Keep up the good work, perhaps I will be inspired to get something outside!

RE: Sig Mayhem 3D ARF
Did the maiden on the Mayhem today. Takeoff was a breeze! I don't think I added one beep of trim to anything. It seems to fly a lot like a pattern plane, with some serious 3D ability. I didn't get real crazy with it because I couldn't get my YS 110 set right on the low end but snap rolls are crazy! Worked on it quite a bit but only ended up getting two flight in. Spent the rest of the day with the OMP Katana powered by a great running ST G-51 with some serious years and hours. Thanks to this forum, I didn't need to add an ounce of weight and it came in a 8lbs 2 oz. I'm looking forward to getting it running in top condition! DT
