RE: Spektrum DSM2 module in 8uaf?
ORIGINAL: ThunderBoat42  Has anyone tried one of these? would be ideal if it works to use my 8uaf on some of those backyard planes without buying a new radio. - if it works <a href=''http://www.ebay.com/itm/130742498765?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649''>http://www.ebay.com/itm/130742498765?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
The channel order in the Futaba module based transmitters is different than Spektrum. The genuine Spektrum module changes the channel order within the module so it matches BNF models. Not sure about FRSKY. Hobby King's Orange Spektrum module does not work on BNF as the channel order is not changed.

RE: Thunder Tiger Innovator battery....
Thanks for the follow up. Tower does list some parts for the Innovator in stock, others as back order, some discontinued, but no battery pack. I have not contacted them directly yet to see if a back order is possible. Thunder Tiger still lists the Innovator on their web site although I have read on various posts online it is no longer produced. I don't know if that is true but I plan

RE: Hobby King Warranties?
ORIGINAL: ProScaleRc Has anyone here made a warranty claim with Hobby King? If so how long did it take and did they ignore you? I've been waiting 10 days with no reply to any of my messages other than someone will contact me within 24hrs. It's a simple open and shut case where a plane arrived with a bent prop shaft. I have sent them a video link of the prop shaft taken before assembly and I can see that they have downloaded it. Not sure whether to ask my bank to apply for refund via VISA or whether I should wait...
Although I have never had a problem with Hobby King products nor had to seek warranty issues I suggest you advise the CC company and let them charge back to your card. If HK then comes through with a satisfactory solution you can re-authorize payment back to them. Customer satisfaction is lacking in many Chinese companies, including some based in the USA, as it is not part of their culture. However some I have dealt with are very responsive so the message is slowly getting through. Good luck, please let us know the outcome.

RE: GP PT-17 Stearman Ideas or Thoughts ?
You will enjoy the Stearman, it flys and looks good in the air, no bad habits. I look at it this way...losing one aileron servo is small pucker factor, lose rudder a little more pucker, lose the single elevator servo....bye, bye. I always split the elevator and use two servos. Mine flew beautifully and scale like with a Zenoah G-23. Go have fun.

RE: Looking for 1/3 piper j3 cub arf
I assembled and flew the World Models 33% Cub several years ago, powered with a stock Zenoah G-62. A great flying plane that lives on on the hands of another local flyer. The ARF assembled easily, did not have any issues with fit nor finish and all hardware worked perfectly. The supplied servo hardware was super and equal to expensive aftermarket parts. Landing gear was changed to one from the following RCU member which fit and operated perfectly...http://www.rcuniverse.com/market/item.cfm?itemId=587543 Robart 1/3 scale landing gear will fit although it is narrower at the mounting area as the WM Cub fuselage is about 1/2" wider than most 33% Cubs. A good quality ARF.

RE: beware of hobby king warranty claims
Firstly I have purchased hundreds of dollars of various products from Hobby King, direct and through the USA facility. There has never been shipping damage nor defective products. All are still in use today. So it amazes me that folks wail like baby banshees when a defect arises and begin blasting Hobby King in forums first, long before the problem has a chance to be resolved. Communication is the key here and flying off the handle at HK’s first response to ship something back to China (probably their standard response) is a little short sighted. Additional clarification of purchase location certainly cleared up the problem for other posters so it tells me HK will stand by their warranty and take care of the issue if provided reasonable communications and a chance to do so. Paying for return shipping is pretty much standard for online purchases and more often than not is refunded or credited by the seller. Digging in ones heels and refusing to pay it is being a jackass at best and only prolongs the issue. To those who pile on saying never again to business with HK, fine, you are the one missing out. If I ever have a problem product they will be the first I contact rather than sniffling and howling on the forums to drum up sympathy.

not just plug your magazine, so no, he won't spark any building comeback. People that don't... not saying this guy can't sell a few of these or impune the quality of his product, just he's not going to change the course of this hobby. I can't count the number of threads... pricey for what they are. If a fellow isn't a builder now, he never will be.

RE: HT lead splice
Most of the responses are usual "can't" when someone wants to repair something. As mpascual (OP) asks, "then why does RCXel make a repair kit?" Some of you are overthinking the issue. Repair it and if it runs fine move on. Not everyone can wipe their rear with $50.00 so if a $10.00 repair works why the concern?

RE: Composite Arf......Problem SOLVED
Not unusual when dealing direct with some Chinese or European companies. Their concept of customer service is we have your money, now what do you want? They accept no responsibility once they ship and expect you to pay for any issues. Lastly, I would no longer do business, no matter the outcome, with a company asking you to commit fraud. And I would notify FedEx.

RE: I.M.A.A Rally of Giants at Castle AFB
All types of aircraft that fit I.M.A.A. specs are welcome. Warbirds, scale, sport scale, sport, 3D, turbines, etc. As mentioned in last year's post about 3D, they can fly anytime but no 3D aerobatics except within their alloted time, generally a 15 minute window within every 60-90 minutes. Turbines can request the same allotment and ample time is set aside for the one of a kind demo or special flight. It is a lot of fun with a lot of fun people. Hotheads, showoffs and trouble makers can go elsewhere as far as I am concerned.

RE: un-explained crash??? (Explained)
Did the swashplate direction correctly respond to transmitter input? I know this is a basic question but we have all had a reverse control situation no matter how many times we look and check. Obviously you have heli experience so something simple has occured here. Could be reverse control or a servo going bad due to vibration. It is spooky when you cannot find an obvious problem.

RE: JR and Spektrum radio confusion
ORIGINAL: rmh
ORIGINAL: ira d
ORIGINAL: AndyKunz We import what will sell, I think seeing us carry Hitec and JR DMSS in addition to Spektrum makes that pretty clear. The relationship with JR is stronger now than ever before, at least as I see it (from the inside). Andy
You have to first import and offer for sale before you know what will sale.
That would be a nice approach -for the buyers n tire kickers In th real world - it is all about getting a return on monies invested and simply repeating basic product lines is risky. RE: JR and Spektrum radio confusion
ORIGINAL: proline8000 (Yeah, they are SO popular that JR discontinued the 12X MV (module version) after only a year due to weak sales and it was a modular radio capable of utilizing the full potential of the 2.4GHz band) Zeeb JR never discontinued the 12Z MV HH decided not to inport them. You can still buy them outside the USA but not here
That is my point in a previous post about HH cherry picking JR's line. JR produces and sells it's entire line in their new 2.4 protocol. If one is not available through HH you have to buy offshore and warranty there. HH may not even accept it for paid service. How many more indicators does one need to entertain an idea JR may be independent of HH in the near future. It is either that or JR is abandoning the US market to HH whims and I find that difficult to believe.

RE: Monokote....Never Again
ORIGINAL: scigs30 I have been using Monokote since the 80s and I have not really noticed any changes and my application technique has not changed. The good thing is there are many coverings out there so a builder can choose what works for them. I have tried Ultracote and did not like it as much as Monokote but that is just me. Here is a Peter Rake Fokker DVII I just covered with Monokote Red, White and Black.
Imagine that! Getting such a beautiful covering job with that smelly, wrinkle infested, non-shrinking crap called Monokote. You show what a great job can be had with proper technique.

RE: DX8 spectrum beware
ORIGINAL: Brian Dorff Andy, I completely agree with you, and If a magazine ad comes as the offer is running out, you cant do much. the magazine ad times run too far in advance for you to gauge when the supply will run out. However... if you go over to the RCG radio forum, the banner ad advertising the 2 free Rx offer is EVERYWHERE! the ad is still up. If you click on the ad, it brings you to the horizon page for the DX8, which no longer comes with 2 free Rx's. This does very much look like bait and switch. I'm pretty darn sure the Internet ad could be DC'd the same day that supplies run out. one phone call and a few mouse clicks could change the ad back to normal, or better yet, a DMSS ad. :)
Appears the marketing dept. at Horizon is asleep at the switch. Of course leaving the ad running drives folks to the web site, a typical web gimmick.

RE: Futaba Telemetry
I understand your personal disappointment but hardly find the 12-14Z obsolete. While reviewing the online manual for the 18MZ the only major differences I see between it and the 14 is the built in telemetry capability and selectable 2.4 protocal. There are other differences for sure but not enough to declare the 12-14 series obsolete. Futaba may well bring the major differences to the 12-14 but will require a new 2.4, two way communication module along with appropriate software, plus needing a new receiver. Cost would probably be in the $300 - $500 range to make that transition and certainly some current owners would gladly buy the additional technology. I agree with Silent-AV8R about the telemetry frenzy being a deal breaker for the vocal. Plus a lot of folks bought new radios because if it, played for a while then no longer use it. In our local 70 member club I am the only one using telemetry so it says it is not that big of a deal.
