RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
ORIGINAL: Asif Can someone pls post flap/crow and down elevator measurement for landing. I am finishing up my installation, last thing that I have to dial in is landing flap setting. Thanks
Based after just 6 flights, the following measurements with CROW I have. -Both ailerons 7mm up. (measured at the tip) -Flaps 72 mm down. (measured at the root) -Elevator 6mm down. (measured at the tip) The UltraFlash don't need crow to bleed of airspeed but that's just the way I like it.

......And also maidened my Habu32 with P-20SE last week. (2 jets in one week. [:D] ) I was disappointed with the Airworld Cougar, didn't like the way it fly. Now the Habu is total different ballgame. I love the way it fly! [:D]

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
Yesterday we maiden 2 UltraFlashes both powered by P160SX and full ducting. Both made 6 flights without any problems. Wow what a great plane this is, tracks great both in slow and fast flight. Landings with crow are very slow and controllable. C.G. was spot on and now we are in the middle of adjusting the flight controls and mixers. Both planes are 10.3 kilo dry with UAT full. With the 160sx we get about 6 min flight time, mixed flying. (2,2 litre used acc. Jetcat GSU) But it could be less when we get to known the plane better and do some more high speed passes. [:D]

RE: Ultra Lightning Grass runway
ORIGINAL: Ali I used to own a Rhino powered UL a few years back. It was by no means a lightweight as it was fully loaded ( Smoke, Lights, Painted finish) This model probably flew from grass as much as it did tarmac. Sure, it never was one of those models that would leap off the floor and go straight up, but having said that even a 200 powered stock UL would do that. I never once had an issue rotation from a grass surface. All I found was that the first circuit would be spent cleaning up and getting to speed, where as the guys with 200 or amt olympus powered UL's would be up and going allot quicker. In this photo gallery, you can see my UL ( Whacky painted one) flying alongside two stock UL's but with amt Olympus for power. I will never forget the fact that mine stayed side by side these two other than the last few seconds of a vertical run. http://www.alsgallery.co.uk/view_album.php?set_albumName=Jets-Over-Pampa-2010 Regards Al
No Ali, we were just flying half throttle with the Oli's all the time so you could join us in the air!! Does anyone experience tension between wing and fuselage? Seems the white inlet duct is the cause of trouble. No adjustment can be made except removing it and that is not an option!

RE: Habu 32 is here. Jetcat P-20 conversion.
Althought all conversion sets working great (Ali, Dave,Tam), they all have one disadvantage.... The fueltank is way in front of the C.G. A friend of my flew the Habu 32 with one of the above conversion sets and the pitch trim changes during the flight and the way the airplane rotates on take-off feeled as a heavy loaded airplane. So we modified 2 Habu32's and partially removed the air intakes and use a different fuel tank so the fueltank is installed exactly on the C.G. The Habu32 flies so much better now. No more pitch changes during the flight, rotates much better and feels much lighter on the stick during the whole flight! :-)

RE: I told Boeing that they needed to use a Tam's Gear failsafe!
Maybe the center hyrdaulic system was just working fine on the LOT 767? I see the flaps and slats and the tailskid are extended. If the gear selector valves stays somehow in the "up" position with ctr hydr sys operating, gear will stays in the up position due to hydr pressure. Gear door actuators will be unpressurized in alt ext ops and uplock hook will release the door.(close side of door actuator will be connected to return via door safety valve). Normally with aternate extension ops the weight of the gear will open the doors. I doubt the doors will fall open in flight without the help of the gear. I know after take-off the lever goes to "off", releasing the pressure but maybe a turnbuckle of the cable between lever and valve just snapped during "up" operation. All is speculation ofcourse, maybe the pilot just broke off the gearlever during "up" operation! [:)]

RE: I told Boeing that they needed to use a Tam's Gear failsafe!
Hey Guys. Just checked the system schematics. What "could" be the reason that the pilots couldn't extend the gear but the tailskid was extended is that the the cable between the landing gear lever and the gear selector valves was broken. The selector valves stay in "up" position and the gear will NOT fall down via alternate extension. (hydraulic Lock) The reason that the tailskid is extended is because the gearlever operates a switch that will power the tailskid valve. Just a thought! ;-)

RE: I told Boeing that they needed to use a Tam's Gear failsafe!
On the 767 the flaps and slats are powered by the center hydr sys as wel. But then again you can select for both flaps and slats alternate (elec driven motor). You can see cleary see on landing, flaps and slats are down. I will check it out this afternoon at work if alt ext gear and alt flaps/slats are on the same bus. Note: the 767 doesn't have a gear uplocks on the mains! The mains are locked by the doors and the doors are locked by a uplock hook.
ORIGINAL: wojtek Check out what Shui ( www.shulmanaviation.com ) hooked me up with [8D] .. these are the new smoke/fuel saddle tanks from CARF for the Flashes ( regular and UF) Its a super tight fit, but it fits, bypas and all ... im in the process of rerouting some of the cables ... on another note, i just saw my elevator hinge is lifting up [&o] .. bumped it likely on a landing as the horns are scraped .. I'll fix it for now, but i'll feel better ordering a new elevator for the long haul ... anyway, the its an amazing flying jet ! :) ~V~
I see some holes in the inlet duct on picture #2. Is this because of air starvation to the turbine? A friend of my removed a "normal" size FOD screen to a P60 size FOD screen on his P160SX powered UF. Somehow there is a noticeable top end speed difference in a positive way. Seems the turbine get more air or the bypass seems to work better.

RE: evojet 130 spool up problem
ORIGINAL: SinCityJets Didier, I am not sure what you mean by "will not spool up." do you mean it starts to spool up but sputters and dies? Or do you mean the engine just shuts off. If it is the first scenario, take the spool time up to six seconds and see if that fixes the problem..... Will see them at jet power next month.. Didier

RE: Airworld Cougar P-20SE
ORIGINAL: J.F Congrats! Any pics of the inside? Ordered mine a couple of weeks back through motorsandrotors and can't wait to get started on it!
I will try to shoot some pictures tomorrow from the inside. @Dave Final empty weight is about 2.4 kilo's. The flightcontrol settings recommended by Airworld are not really correct. Especially the aileron differential must be almost neutral to get no wobble during rolling. Lot's of CROW needed to slow the airplane down but that's a good thing! [:)] I needed 20 grams lead in the tail to get the correct C.G. I use 2x 2S 460mAh lipo's and the original 1000 mAh Ecu lipo in the nose. The Cougar has a tendency to climb when going full power, do you have this as well? Especially when the fuel tank get's a little emptier so it's definatelly a C.G. issue. Maybe I try some more lead in the tail. keep you posted. Here a compilation of monday's flying with 2x Airworld Cougars P-20SE, Flash and Elan. RE: Habu 32 is here. Jetcat P-20 conversion.
ORIGINAL: Ali The shaking was required, only on a customers P-20 ( as he was running low on gas and outside temps were minus 2) I normally charge my jets after 2-3 flights anyway, so would happily run my kero start Habu on the standard battery. I dont actually think I can remember the last time I logged 5-6 flights on a single model in one day of just sport flying, but I guess everyone is different. So yes. if you want to fly 5-6 times with your Kero start Habu, I would advise either fitting a larger battery, or even charge your ECU. All I know, is that just as per my larger turbines, I wont run gas start, unless there is absolutely no other choice. [;)] Regards Al
I have 4 starts on my P-20 and 2 of them failed due to to much gas or not enough gas. i definitely go to kerostart as I find the P20 difficult to start on propane.

RE: JetCat P20-Flown-Video!!!
ORIGINAL: Dave Wilshere I have run with both, my Cougar has just a felt clunk and the E Turbinator, Mini Viper and Ducty an MAP mini BT. All have been fine. The smaller turbines don't like bubbles, but they do not work the fuel system as hard. Dave Not found a suitable ''tea'' strainer yet, but suction is alot less!
In the past I had bad experiences with felt klunk in nitro engines powered models. Parts of the feltklunk found in the needle valves and blocked the fuelflow and also found felt klunks getting clogged but this probably caused due to the high oil mix ratio. Anyway, I think I'm gonna try the supplied veltklunk of Jetcat without a UAT or BT.

RE: JetCat P20-Flown-Video!!!
Hello P-20 drivers! What is everybody's opinion about an UAT for the P-20? Most Kolibri powered jets doesnt have an UAT or headertank. Like the OPUS with those crazy manouvres doesnt stop the turbine from running. I was thinking to put a UAT socket over a heavy klunk (or filtklunk) and put it directly into the maintank without a UAT. The space is very limitted in those small jets. [;)] Anyone know if there is already a FOD screen available for the P20?
