RE: 737 near mid air video
2thdr, thanks! I'm glad someone appreciates my sense of dry humour. Hey, I haven't seen any vids from you lately, but I haven't been RCU much lately. K3, i'm just trying to have fun. Why grow up? I'm 46 and having fun flying toy airplanes! What's wrong with school property? It's a private school, in the evening, no body around.

Cleaning mud from an outrunner
Yep, thats right. I drove my slow stick into 3in of mud and water. The engine is packed with mud. It barely turns by hand. It's an Eflight 450. I've never had one apart. Do they pull apart easily so I can clean it? I thought about soaking it in something. Maybe some electronic cleaner. Thanks for any help!

737 near mid air video
Here's my latest AP vid. Note the near mid air collision with a 737 inbound to IND. My TCAS picked it up right away on departure and advised me to immediately turn left. Just barely made it!! Thank God for the TCAS on my Slow Stick! http://rcuvideos.com/video/IMG0007-AVI Go Boilers!

RE: FAA Information
John, Kudo's to your efforts. You do sound sincere other than telling the feds that you fly recreational when most may be commercial. I dealt with the FAA a little when I was working in maintenance control in the airline industry. They do like to have facts, the more the better, but sometimes less is better. Anyway, I'd give you my data, but I don't have any yet. I'm just now modifying a Slow Stick to be my first AP model-intented to do AP for hire eventualy. You might try posting on Wattflyer to see if you get any more response. Their AP forum is pretty active. To the rest of the readers, I don't see where John can benefit from our data any more than if he read all of threads in the forums and extraced all the airplane and camera specs that are already posted. Heck, that's where I've gotten all my tips to mod my Slow Stick. It's now like were selling secrets to the Russians. Phil

RE: What constitutes a crash?
A while back one of our fellow members stated something like this, that a crash isn't a crash unless the debris field is 10x wingspan and engine is 3xlength deep in the ground. And don't forget an aid in the crash......SPEED, SPEED, SPEED. If that member is still around, pls correct my quote.

Glad to help out! It only took about 7 days to get there, and only $13 for a 10lb box. So everybody else out there don't let the cost scare you from sending a care package to Laine and his troops. Phil

RE: Operation R/C
I friend of mine was channel surfing the other night and came across a show that was talking about the GI's using RC a/c to fly in advance of convoys and search for IED's. He did catch what channel or show it was. Did anybody else catch the show? If so, where and when? I'd like to see it. Laine, have you guys started using the r/c's for recon yet? Phil

RE: Why do people like to see carnage?
The mob sean is the man's way of thanking that person for sacrificing his airplane to the RC gods in the sky. That is so the rest of the mob can continue to fly the remainder of the day hopefully with out any more sacrifices.

RE: Why do people like to see carnage?
It's the circle of life. Kinda like BROWNKNOWS said, crashed airplanes brings forth new life (new airplanes). It's also a sacrifice to the RC gods in the sky. We must all sacrifice one airplane to the gods.

That's the 350. It's inbetween the first Pico and the 400. The first Pico didn't have ailerons.

GWS replacement parts
Has anyone been able to find replacement parts for the GWS TM 400? I need an upper wing. Did a repair on mine last night. Picked up the wrong epoxy and it ate the foam. Thanks.

RE: Operation R/C
Gents, I finally have a JR complete radio to send to Laine. I noticed in previous posts that the USPS didn't recognize the postal code. Is that still a problem? If so, what's a good address for Laine? Old man, you mentioned that you had set up corporate sponsorship for shipping. Is that still a deal, and how do I go about getting that done? Otherwise I have no problem shipping myself. I see you're from Indy, where abouts? I live on the southside. I also have some slow flyer props to send. Phil

RE: Speed 400 props
Thanks for the help. I had thought about just sqeezing a prop between the 2 nuts, but was afraid of slippage. I had more time and did some searching in the forums. Found another thread talking about adapters. Are these what you are talking about? Will I not have enough shaft to put a spinner on? Thanks for the help, Phil

Speed 400 props
I have a GWS TigerMoth 400. The stock prop was a 10x6. I can't find a replacement in the LHS's. They either don't carry that size or the inset for the shaft nut on back of the prop is too small. That includes GWS and Eflight. The guy at the LHS said that some direct drive motors have a large nut. But we looked at some smaller props that might have been for direct drive, and they were the same as all the others. My motor has 6:1 gear, but not direct drive. He did order me some "direct drive GWS 10x6 props". Is there another solution to this? Any adapter that can be used on the back of the prob or on the shaft???????? (short of carving out a bigger notch and possibly getting if off center) Thanks.

RE: Prep styrofoam plane for painting
Occording the my LHS dude, Tamya spray paint to the only paint that won't eat the foam. It's the propellant that eats the foam, not the paint, so be ware. I guess any brushed on paint will work.

RE: TM 400 CG issues
SUCCESSFULL FLIGHT! Thanks for all the help guys! I balanced it right side up. Added about 2.5oz of weight in the nose AND made sure the batt was full fwd. (still seems like a lot of wt) I had never heard of balancing an a/c upside down. I work on L1011's, B757's and B737's and I've NEVER seen one on it's back for weight and balance! Just kidding. Anyway, it flew great! I think part of my problem was I wasn't used to an electric airplane with this kind of power. I have the little TM and it can't climb out of it's own shadow. The TM400 wan't to climb straight up, so right after the hand lauch, I just reduced pwr a bit and off she went! Flys great, easy to handle. Thanks again for the help, Phil
