ORIGINAL: Johnnysplits At that size, they should have made it look like an exact scale replica, certainly not the way they did it.
I feel the opposite. I think it's great that they made something from scratch that's unique and NOT a replica of something already existing.

RE: Alloy Monster MKIII
Tell me about it. I usually start off with some crazy contraption with 10 moveable parts, hours of work on the lathe and filing, drilling, grinding etc. Only to end up, say, welding a washer to a bolt and drilling a hole in it :) But I love to tinker so it's all good. Just went for a quick spin on the beach with the car. Video coming soon. You know, it probably would work if I make my own servo horn, attach a rod end to it and have the springs either side of it..... Hmmmm..... Maybe even better - have two rods like that.... one on each side..... Back to the shed. [:D]

RE: Alloy Monster MKIII
Ideas for a home made servo saver. :) Just laid some bits out "for demonstration purposes" to get my head around how it could work. The brown/reddish piece is hollow and slides over the shaft which would be threaded at each end to allow for adjusting the tension of the springs..... The rodend on the right will be connected to the steering crank. Of course it would have to be streamlined a bit, and the brown piece of tube would probably need a sleeve or something to keep it in line. Will ponder a bit more on this...

RE: Largescale Forum Options??
I brought this up a while back and it was decided against. We (homebuilders) did get the sticky on top of the page which is awesome, although it's in need of an update. Personally I think the homebuild forum, if it was made separate, would be a pretty lonely place. All in all there's not that many builds going on, and a lot of them disappear shortly after being started. The ones that are in action usually get a few posts here and there, then disappear for a while and then a few updates and another quiet spell. Many people have the best intentions of starting a project but few seem to follow it through once they realise the amount of work actually involved....
