ORIGINAL: Jamie C Sorry just got back from the field, I see Dizz has sorted the Hotel details . . . . it is a good one!
Yep, sorry - I had the link "in use" at the time so carried on and put it up. Am booked in to get a solid roof over my head this time too. ...........hopefully not too close to the mighty Cock though because I know what he can be like after a wet
ORIGINAL: CJ2002
ORIGINAL: whitcombe Seems frustrating as I have access to all UK RAF stations except for Merryfield ??? Just looking for somewhere to fly the turbines once ar twice a month, I'm also a chief examiner so not a dangerous idiot on the sticks :) Tim
Maybe it's because Merryfield is a RNAS Tim (only joking...sounds like you have a super-duper top doggy go anywhere MOD pass). BTW, you haven't fallen out of love with us at Wroughton already, have you?! Cheers, Dick
I was kind and ignored the crab bit Marham too far for me so will be at M'F on Sunday with the Attacker (fingers crossed). Working on the rockets and retractable tail wheel this evening and tomorrow, but well past the time for a pink gins and I will be watching the Olympics later, so who knows what will happen? Regardless of it I finish it or not, I have plenty of other dark-side models ready to fly (F35, M52, P1091, SR177, P1121, M52, FD2, U2, Typhoon, V2). Pete

RE: JMA WESTONZOYLAND - CANCELLED
Personally I like the idea of an October event - keeps the "one a month" concept going. I spoke to Pat this morning re Merryfield and as I suspected I'm afraid that it is a non-starter as a WZ alternative this time around. BTW, we have a meeting with the OiC there next Tuesday to discuss a few things that have cropped up recently and get the bids in for next year. Pete

Does it have to be September Dick? For the last several years weather in October has been pretty good, certainly no more of a risk than in June. Pete

RE: JMA WESTONZOYLAND - CANCELLED
That's a bummer. I don't think M'F could be used as an alternative given the current noise sensitivities, but I'll speak to Pat tomorrow when he gets back from Scotland just to confirm. Seems like there may be some other options anyway though. Pete

RE: JMA Long Marston Jet Meet July 14th-15th
Hi John..........I'm back home now, no toys from Singas this time though, feeding a turbine fund instead. I didn't realise there was a pub option, but without the Guinness Dog there is room in the car for my bike. Looks like it is 3.6 miles from LM flying site to the New Inn, so should only take 3 or 4 minutes to cycle back after a wet or two (if they have anything like that cider you had at Merryfield!). Another way of looking at it though is that as I'm camping Friday and Saturday I'll be saving 2 night's hotel tariff which can go straight into the black budget................so by you taking the easy option staying in the pub you have directly helped towards a P100, cheers mate! [:D] Lazy day today getting over the jet lag doing some building - P1154 wing and the next phase of the Attacker make-over. Cheers Pete

RE: 'JMA TOPGUN 2012' RNAS MERRYFIELD MAY 19/20
Just back from a long day at sea. I can confirm the above that the Judging was a very difficult task indeed, particularly given the very high standards and fairly loose metric. Three things struck us: 1. Standard of flying was very high (standfast the Tancock) and noticibly better than last year (standfast the Tancock again) 2. The reliability of the gear (including the Tancock for a change). 3. No-one tried to bribe us (standfast the Tancock) Anyway, here are some of my photos:

Tempting as it is I want to/need to get some "face time" to follow up on DIO issues. I'm sure you understand [;)] Will get more info to take from Fisty later this afternoon as no meeting in Cornwall after all and I'll be able to get there earlier. Looks as if you will be flying until the last minute on Saturday so might get back for a flight or 2 anyway.....M52 and maybe FD2???

RE: Classic Jets #50
Thanks for that info Dick - we (Jamie and I) were worried that I had got the C of G calculation wrong with the amount of down trim required on the first flight and I have been trying to shift the C of G further forward with each subsequent flight. If there are to be any more would definitely change the tail plane incidence.......will have to talk nicely to Pete N about a big one when I see him [;)]. Next time you see this one it will have flaps and I will make sure you have a flight too - however wrestling the tx from Mr C might be the problem [:D]. Roll on CJ51!!!!! Bye for now Pete

The Force is strong, but Fisty will succumb - so much anger[:)] It wasn't really an EDF conversion because Pete had always intended this one to have the Stumax fan. It will be coming to the AGM John; I had intended to get the main gear doors and the cannons added by then, but am rapidly running out of time. Cheers Darth
