I have some 4.5" inflatable tires. I'll take the air out and give them a try but their goin' look stuuuuuupid. I actually am hard pressed to get ENOUGH flare even with MAX elev. When I pull back a bit on the throttle she heads for the ground like a brick. It has absolutely no floating qualities at all. It's either UP or DOWN. But as I say it takes off and flies around in fine fashion [:o]

I wanted one of these Caps until I watched a buddy maiden his Edge 540 ( very similiar aircraft ) and the gear collapsed on a "gentle" asphalt runway landing competely destroying the plane.. Here are the pics - terrible damage. I'm going elsewhere because if you strengthen the gear plate the fuse will probably break in two. I can't believe how these things are built. The only

RE: Servos for Spacewalker 120
I had a Great Planes 120 size Spacewalker / OS 120 4-Stroke. I used some old Futaba 9202's ( plastic gears ) I had kicking around and never a problem. I was using 6 volts so the servo torque would be in the 80 - 90 oz. in. range. Anything around this with a strong plastic or metal gear set would do.

RE: OS 120fs Four Stroke
As previously stated I have 400 + flights on my 120FS non - pumped. I back my high speed off only about 300 rpm's ( I do that also with my YS's ) and never have had a problem. It gains maybe 200 rpm's during the flight and sometimes not even that. I have NEVER had the engine go lean in any manuver. The only reason I would ever go to all the trouble to put a pump on it is in order to put the tank on the cg and I think that is overrated [:)]

RE: Custom fees in Canada
As you can see I live in Eastern Canada. Over the past 10 years I have placed at least 50 orders in the US and the most Customs I have ever paid is $5.00, 25% of the time I get charged GST but I have NEVER paid brokerage fees. I understand that some people especially in Ontario get dinged for brokerage fees but I think it depends on who you buy from. I've ordered about 10 times from Towers and never paid brokerage fees. I have always been leary of damage to large airplanes so I have only ever ordered 1 ARF plane in the mail. That was a 42" electric Pitts Python . It came from Washington, cost me $25.00 shipping, $5.00 Customs, no GST and arrived safe and sound. Most orders I have received from Towers have NOT been packed well beware !!

RE: 3W85xi - Surprisingly bad experience with Cactus Aviation
I'm just curious how he charged you for the engine if you were just enquiring about it and he promised to call you. Did you give him your credit card # without actually ordering the engine ?? If you actually ordered it did you call Catcus back and cancel it after ordering from International ?? I do however find the restock fee quite excessive.

RE: YS 63-S vs YS 63 (older version)
I flew a Sig Ultimate FF / YS .63FZ for 10 years with over 500 flights, 11,000 on a good day with a 13-6 APC. I never, I repeat never had any problems with the engine because it was on a profile. I had 2 of the .63 FZ's and they seemed as powerful as the S models that I have seen at our field. I recently discoverd electrics and sold my .63's. I'll never use glow in anything under a 120 size again.

RE: Quieting a two stroke
ORIGINAL: barnstormer2 I currently have a 10x6 prop on it right now. I'll throw on an 11x6 and see how many rpms it will drop.
A 10-6 is a very small prop for a .46. Your right about an 11-6 maybe even an 11-7. I ran a 10-6 on the old OS .40 FSR's back in the 80's and they turned up pretty high.

RE: CRRC 50 Rough Running
ORIGINAL: PAPE davesdad Do you think the engine shook to much because of it been out of tune or because its just a cheap engine??? I still havent goten to start mine its still on my engine stand, but Ill post here how it goes when I get to it.
They'll all shake if the mixtures are too rich. I have a Taurus 52cc that was running like a Swiss watch and I had to richen up the low speed the other day ( temp change ? ) I went a bit too far and it shook and burbled in the mid range like a frozen dog. Brought the plane in leaned it about 1/8 of a turn and it was as smooth as slik again. You could buy 3 CRRC 50's for what I have in this Taurus. It has nothing to do with it being cheap.

RE: Quieting a two stroke
If the muffler is 2 piece remove the back 1/2, buy a universal lawn mower muffler ( the long skinny one not the round one ) drill a hole through it and one through the end of your remaining muffler piece. Bolt the whole issue together with a long bolt ( maybe a bit of high temp silicone around the joint ) and you'll be amazed at the difference. Total cost will be less tha $10. I did this decades ago when I ran .40 size motors and even did it on each outlet of a pitts muffler on a 40cc gasser. The gasser went from 98 db - 92 db with no lose in power. If you have lots of money you can get them made up by J'Tech - a bit fancier and a lot more money.

Glad your happy now. There are just so many people who are reluctant to adjust the factory needles I don't understand why. As I stated somewhere in one of my post I don't think I have every run an engine that I wasn't adjusting the Hi & Low before I had 1/2 a tank run through it.
ORIGINAL: noterman I find it interesting that the advertised 30 oz. weight does not include the required metal engine mount.
Or the 4.8 volt battery to run it. RE: OS FS 120 E PROP SIZE
I've been running a 120E for 400 flights. I use an APC 15-8 and it's perfect fo the plane ( Venus II ). It turns 9200 after riching it a bit and I agree 10,000 static for this engine is toooo high. I've tried a 14-10 & a 16-6 but keep coming back to the 15-8. I found the plane too fast with the 14-10 and over reved on turns with the 16-6. The 16-6 is not too much prop, but in my case I found it useless on this plane, all revs and no power.

RE: 4s performance - would someone explain?
I just sold off 2 - YS .63's that I had for about 5 years. Nothing wrong with them just went electric for the smaller stuff. The .70 may ( but I doubt it ) have the same power as a .63 and the .81 probably does but I can tell you NOTHING will match the .63 for speed of transition from idle to full. I had these engines for 5 years and the speed at which they transitioned still scared me. I thought they would blow up - but they never did [:D]

COLD STORAGE OF LIPO BATTERIES ??
This will be my first winter to store my lipo batteries. I have discharged them all and recharged to the 50% reccomended for storage. Here's my question I do not want to store them in my house ( obvious reasons ) and every other place ( garage, shed, etc. ) is unheated. Will temps as low as -10 F hurt these batteries ? When I approached the builder he told me he has a 33% 75% finished so I'm looking at that. Your choice of servos surprises me I thought it would require something a bit more stout. So what's
