RE: Hangar 9 30cc P-47 Build Thread
SU-31, We were considering ordering the Robart Aluminum 5" scale wheels. The H-9 provided wheels look much thinner in cross section than the Robart. Does anyone know if these will fit into the wells depth-wise? I recall measuring and finding more than a quarter of an inch difference. Thanks, Doug

Curt, The Aluminum doors are very strong and need no stiffeners. The Robart legs are threaded for two 4-40 bolts. No other mounts are employed. Regards, Doug
ORIGINAL: Doug Andre Ron, I used .032 Aluminum sheets, (K&S Stock Number 16256) From Horizon hobby, 6" X 12". Use a flat stock gear door as a pattern. Scribe a line around the pattern and cut the sheets with a fine metal cutting blade. Dress up the rough edges with 250.... I will try to post some pictures when I can Regards, Doug
RE: Hangar 9 30cc P-47 Build Thread
Casey, We have witnessed the same comparison between EP and Gas Power. I think that these P-47's will only go so fast, regardless of power applied. At any rate we could not be more satisfied with the power setup on these models. 10 minute flight times are acceptable but I would have rather had more battery weight than non-functional lead. Doug

John, My Dealer just called to let us know that he had been invoiced for the EP motor mounts and battery tray kits. We are supposed to have them by July 25th. This should end our long wait for components for the Jug. Thanks for responding! Doug

RE: Hangar 9 30cc P-47 Build Thread
Nick, Glad your sample was in good order. My fixed gear hardware pack was also swimming in oil but was contained by the plastic bag. My ship will be EP and I too was disappointed that the motor box and battery tray was not included. I would have gladly traded that fantastic static prop for EP parts. Now we are reading that these items will not ship until late October. Over all still a very nice model and we all know how well they will fly. Regards

RE: Hangar 9 30cc P-47 Build Thread
John, I have started work on my sample and found similar scarring on my fuse and one wing but was able to shrink most of it out. My sample was packed very thoughtfully. The damage looked to be inflicted during handling at the factory. The finish work on the sides of the fuse near the wing fillet was quite rough however. Not a deal breaker but unfortunate. I was shocked to learn that the EP motor mount and battery tray would not ship until late October! Hope this is a typo. Thanks

RE: ESM FW D-9
Velco, I tried the APC 20x8 E and logged 93 amps at 4300 watts static and tied down. The motor, ESC and batteries were much happier. This is a very reasonable combination and will indeed "tame the beast". Flying photos by next week. Regards, Doug Andre

RE: ESM FW D-9
Guys, I want to stress what a great EP conversion subject this plane makes. Never in my 30 years of R/C warbird flying have I ever managed to get away with no lead in the nose! Also, the proportions of the fuselage and the positions of the formers are ready made for containing big batteries. Using 6000 Mah batteries should pose no problem with space or weight. Regards, Doug
