RE: Seagull 1.25 Zero
The stock retracacts were the blue ones and I like the Wingspan retracts a lot. I made 4 flights on the model sunday and the Wingspan units dindn't give me any issues. I had to do some shimming of the mount blocks when installing them because the blocks weren't perfect. Minor issue. I plan on getting some more of these units for a couple other ARF's. They work really good. Doug D.

RE: A little help with valves please
The valve on the LHS is used with many popular pneumatic retract systems. The valve on the RHS is most likely part of your brake system as you stated. As to how it works, you will need to contact YA . They are usually very helpful with product support.

RE: Problem with Hydrimax battery
Hydrimax uses a servo lead for there connector. The yellow or white wire is a dead wire. If your not reading any voltage and the charger is telling you there's a problem. (figuring you've connected it correctly) Then there is most likely a bad cell in the pack. Return it for replacement if you can.

RE: Futaba Servo FP514B, Does anyone know the torque and/or speed rating
Hey DonGood, Are you sure that's not a S148 servo? If so it's a standard servo with about 42 .oz of torque and .22/60 speed at 4.8 volts. Doug D.

RE: Great Planes GIANT Big Stik !!!
Chuck l If you want a bit more ground clearance get some bigger wheels. I went with some Dave Brown 4 1/2" foam wheels. Added a little extra. And makes it look a bit more rugged or maybe like a bush plane. Worth a try !!! Doug D.

RE: Slimline Mufflers,OS,Magnum, need help
Well considering that the Magnum engine is a clone of the O.S. a lot of the hardware and O.S. accessaries are useable on the Magnum engines. You can verify this if you know the thread and diameter of the exhuast mount.

RE: Great Planes GIANT Big Stik !!!
Hey Chuck l !!! Agree with you on the roll rate, Much better with all the ailerons working. But with that big square wing it won't be real fast on the roll rate. Condsidering the size of the rudder and elevator there not bad. But dial in more rudder than they reccommend if you want. My son can do a rolling circle with mine (I haven't the practice or thumbs for it). Even he said dial in some more rudder and a little more elevator. What are you turning for a prop on that G26 ? I've got a 20x8 on my 2.4 as to keep the speed down a bit. Still it moves quickly enough !!!

RE: What's in a good receiver?
I've used HiTec receivers for some time and have had no problems. In some cases they have had better ground range then the original equipment. Never noticed any difference in servo speed. Another good after market receiver is made by FMA.

RE: To anyone who has built the GP Giant Stik
Well I've assembled mine and used a Fox 2.4. Had to make my ownstand off mount, but so far the firewall is holding together. As far as the wing bolts are concerned replace them if that makes you feel better. 1/4 x 20 aluminum or steel would work fine. just make sure the're snug before takeoff. Don't need any R/F noise generated by your wing bolts.

RE: TF P-40 Engine
I believe there is an O.S. 1.20 installation shown on the plans ? Doesn't matter, I've known at least one person who has installed a 1.20 four stroke and loved it. Just don't over pitch the prop. A 15x6 or 16x6 is more than enough. The engine will need to idle well within Saito's recommendations and you maybe can use the max or a little more flap deflection suggested by TF to help slow the model for landing.

RE: what size is pneumatic retracts from B&D
They are a .40 to .60 size set of retracts. They can handle up to a .90 sized model if you enlarge the hole for the wire struts and use a larger wire.

RE: Great Planes Giant Ugly Stick
, just like a Stick. Doug D....Well guys I thought I'd add my two cents worth to the mix. I've had my GP Giant Stick for a while but have had only a few flights. I need to do some carburetor work, engine was in storage to long. I used an early Fox 2.4 gas engine. No additional nose weight needed. Did not set it up

RE: IKON Porter...
A friend of mine in Omaha, NE. has built one. Hasn't flown it yet, engine issues. His, not the models. Was a little difficult to interput plans and instructions at times, but he managed. Looks great. And it should fly like a big trainer. If he ever does get it airborne.

RE: STOLEN CORSAIR Retrieved thanks to RCU & Corsairjock
What GREAT NEWS !!! Lot's of times modelers stuff gets stolen and it's never see again. I'm glad, as I am sure there are others, that you got most, if not all of it back. At least the important parts. Good luck on your repairs. Looking forward to hearing about the first flights.

RE: Arizona Models Tiger Moth
I agree with DP the Pacific Aeromodel Tiggy is a better value and a great flier. I flew one of the first versions issued for a few years. They have since improved there hardware package. But it's a great flier. If you like to build the Flair Tiger Moth is an outstanding flier and at 89" is real close to quarter scale. I have one waiting for me to get started on.

RE: Great Planes GIANT Big Stik !!!
Well I have brought mine home from the hobby store. It seems to have arrived in good shape ! Still plan using a gas burner. My engine won't need that big of stand off mounts. I'll have to redesign the mount.

RE: Adding Nose Weight to Great Planes' Giant Chipmunk
Seems a bit excessive. Where do you have the battery ? If you can, pack it under the fuel tank. That will help ! Are you using a Higley heavy hub. That would help. I installed a Saito 1.50 and balanced to the rear of the C/G. And I didn't have to add that much weight.

RE: Glassing with dope.
I have tried it using nitrate dope as the base. And then using talcum powder as the filler mixed into the dope. Works pretty good. Like anything sand until it looks right. Accepts most paints when allowed to cure properly. I have a couple of future projects that I will try it again. It's worth a try !!! Experiment on some scrap wood or an older model you want to refinish.

RE: Could it be done?
Byrons did pretty much just that during the eighties and early nineties. At two flying events a year hosted in Ida Grove Iowa. Moved to a place near Des Moines in the mid nineties before it ended. Byrons would stage a fighting back display that included Zeros, B-25's, Mustangs and what ever could be flown to make it as realistic and entertaining as possible. Pyrotechnics where also involved. Simulated flak and ground explosions. Now mind you that this wasn't a combat event persay. No ribbons to attack and cut. But models where of that size and midairs and crashes did happen. Was really something to watch !!!
