RE: FSA Clubhouse
ORIGINAL: weathervane Sam, you are right. Calling us a devided club is not really true. I have had a lot of fun flying at FSA for the last 4 years. it is a great way to relax and a great place to hang. But some times it is like being in the middle of a water ballon fight. Nothing good will come from it. My first month as a club member someone told me not to bring the wife and kids to the field. I just don't get it, I like going to the field. I have a good time, I like 90% of the people there. But I tell ya, the other 10%, are no better than anyone else. No mater how hard they try. Thats why they say the things they do. It should be about one thing, flying and having fun. We are flying high priced toys thats all.
Andrew, I have to say, that whoever said that to you is an idiot!

RE: FSA Clubhouse
ORIGINAL: DMichael I'm posting this in the for sale section now - I am changing the price around a little bit Radiocraft Extra with carbon tube and gear upgrades: $650 ZDZ100NG with in-cowl mufflers: $750 Add servos: $250 Everything but batteries and your receiver: $1650 Pics attached.
ORIGINAL: DMichael Guys- I am going to be putting my 35% Extra up for sale on this site- I thought I would let you guys know first - it's always nicer to buy from someone you know. This is the blue and white Extra I fly sometimes. It is a Radiocraft Extra (they are no longer in busines but Radiowave sells them now). I bought it as an ARC and covered it. It was originally a 300S (low wing) but I moved the wing up so now it's a 300 (better arrrangement). I have a ZDZ 100 twin in it that works really well- power is over the top with this plane. It has JR 8611 servos in the wings, 8411s in the elevator and a single big Hitech servo on the rudder. Plane flies really well and is set up for 3D. I'd like to sell it ready to fly, just install your receiver and batteries but might consider parting it out. I'll post some pictures. Fuse was damaged and gear plate torn out about 3 seasons ago - it was repaired and flown many, many times since then. It has a couple of upgrades to save weight- carbon wing tube and landing gear. Add your receiver and batteries and fly: $1850 Everything but the servos: $1400 This is a great deal- if you bought the pieces at retail it would cost more than $3000 - and a great way for someone who is considering stepping up in size. If you want to fly it before you buy, I can arrange that. Dave

I just want to test fly [:D]

RE: FSA Clubhouse
I thought I would chime in so that everyone is clear on the “intent of Airplanes of the World. When I conceived the idea 5 years ago to put on AOTW, it was a “scale or “stand-off scale event. The reason for the word “stand-off was to ensure that ARFs and the like were allowed and to make sure that everyone new this wasn’t a “Top Gun event. Aerobatic planes like the ones you fly were acceptable. Yours would fit in this category if it was a scale or stand-off scale representation of a full scale plane. Extras, Edges, Caps and the like were included. As well as “War Birds like the Hanger 9 60 size group which are “stand off scale was also included. Sticks, Funtana’s, 4 Stars, non scale fun jets, profiles and any other plane that didn’t have a full scale counterpart weren’t supposed to participate. That was the original premise of AOTW. Not sure who told you Kelly that you couldn’t bring your plane, but they were DEAD wrong. As I was the organizer/CD for the first three let's talk offline as someone gave you bad information.

You know I had to give ole Chris a friendly little dig!!!! It is sad that we are loosing these WWII pilots. These guys are truly "Stick and Rudder" guys. If you see the F-22 Raptor fly the control surfaces are in constant movement by the computer guidance systems to keep that thing stable. It is flying, but man, "Stick and Rudder" is really flying!!!!!!!!

RE: FSA Clubhouse
Kelly, my dear BACC buddy. That is so revisionist history when it comes to division along economic lines and a typical Rush Limbaugh sycophant response. I can go on and on about Rush, but that isn’t the point. As most know I am an independent but had to join a party when I moved to Maryland (really sucked). If I were living in VA I would remain an independent having voted “both sides of the isle during my life. ALL POLITICIANS ARE LYING people as most of you heard me say on many occasions, Republicans and Democrats alike. But let’s not get the current state of affairs with the economy twisted on who is at fault. The world’s economy has suffered tremendously under the last 8 years of the Bush administration. We are in the worse depression since the great depression of 1929. You more than most know the affects of the current banking crisis. The economy didn’t collapse January 20, 2009! Circuit City, Linens and Things, GM, Chrysler and Ford’s problems didn’t start January 20, 2009. Did AIG, Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, and JPMorgan Chase fail and get bailed after January 20, 2009? No. The executives of Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, and JPMorgan Chase made over 1.6 BILLION, that is BILLION with a BIG B in 2007, again, was this after January 20, 2009? The answer is no, these events happened under the Bush administration. These are facts, not the ranting of a political malcontent by the likes of Rush Limbaugh. In addition to the financial crisis, we have a world that hates us, plain and simple. They hate us because of our failed economic policies as well as our foreign policies. Back in 2001 we could have nuked Afghanistan from the face of this earth because of what happened on 9/11 and no one, I repeat no one in this world would have batted an eye. We had so much good will cash after 9/11 that we had card blanche to do whatever we needed to do in Afghanistan but we burned it up with a needless war in Iraq over WOMD (Weapons of Mass Disappearance or was it Weapons of Mass Deception). The world hates us. I have been blessed to have traveled around the world and it is amazing that the world is happy that we have made a change in direction. Let’s not get into the rhetoric of Cheney who is about a real as a three dollar bill. Don’t get me wrong, if we need to pull the trigger, then pull the trigger, but let’s make sure we are doing it for the right reason and not because someone’s daddy was targeted back during the first gulf war. I have personally seen far too many you men and women permanently crippled because of this senseless war that was started over a lie. The whole point is, none of us, should take what the talking heads Republican or Democrat, conservative or liberal says at face value. Also, you mentioned the fish wraps and news outlets that are liberal, but you didn’t mention CNN, Fox and CBS which are conservative. CBS is conservative, not liberal.

RE: FSA Clubhouse
I usually stay out of political talks, but as a matter of public service, I just want everyone to has accurate information. Just to be clear, I hope people are not getting their information from Rush Limbaugh. He is malcontent and needs to top spewing venom. We need to pull together as a country. If our current Presidents policies fail, WE ALL FAIL and the average man will be in even worse predicaments then they currently are in. But RICH people like him and other talking heads will not feel the pain. Here is the rundown on the Stimulus Tax Breaks http://finance.yahoo.com/taxes/article/106626/Your-Share-of-Stimulus-Tax-Breaks So now we have the accurate information

RE: 50cc QB 260 build thread
I have a BME50 under the hood and it flys great. The DA50 will be just fine. I have everything stock, not carbon fiber and the plane flys just great with a good 50CC engine. I added no lead what so ever. I just moved the batteries around. It will hover and pull out with no problems. It will do snaps on the upline and still pull with little speed bleed off. There is very little coupling on mine and mixing was very little. Tracking is great on this bird. WHen I bought the 260 a few years ago, I reviewed pretty much every 50CC class plane and settled on this one. I am glad I did.

HRB74 you are missing out! Get that puppy built. It will only take you about three nights max. I got mine in November of 06 and I have been flying it ever since! The guy who designed the color scheme they are using on their 35cc Extra 300 ARF-QB has flown mine. He said the plane flys really well for it size

I was down at Markham Park in Broward county last week. I love hanging out there while on vacation. They have jets and more jets and more jets flying in a small space. The group is very nice to guests. Here is a wonderful, Balsa USA 1/3 scale Sopwith flying with only a G-45. The plane flew very scale. He will switch out the engine with a G-62 just as an insurance policy.

RE: Anyone used two packs in series?
I used to use 2 TP 2100's on my Trex 500. I have since switched to 5 cell Outrage batteries and 15T pinion. The heli is getting about 3K at a little above mid stick. I have a 16T and 14T also at home, but the 15T is like a rocket. I would suggest looking at Outrage batteries. I know that mine is a 500, but I thought it would help that the times on a 500 wasn't that great running to 3 cells in series.

RE: FSA Clubhouse
No, but your planes have to be IMAA or WMWA legal. So for IMAA 80" wingspan or 25% of a full scale plane. My old Patty Wagstaff would qualify even though the wings are only 78". My old Shoestring would qualify as it is a 1/4 scale replica of the full scall plane. The Warbird has similar rules, but I am not as familiar with them as the IMAA. Hope this helps.

RE: FSA Clubhouse
ORIGINAL: DMichael ...... 5) Left side Pit infraction - Pilots who continue to take-off and cross the flightline into the left side pit area shall be subject to verbal, written and possible expulsion from the club. This problem needs to be addressed with a firm rule. This happens far too often. DAVE: I agree that this can be an issue. In my experience 99.99% of the time it is a pilot skill issue. The first thing I'd always like to see whenever there is a flight skill issue that causes a safety situation is for folks to get some help- other club members offer some coaching or assistance. I think that this would come under the general heading of if a flyer continually exhibits unsafe flying of any kind then it needs to be addressed up to and including inviting them not to fly at the club anymore.
This sometimes boils down to being soloed too soon. I know we all would like for people to be able to get out there on their own and finish their training. But correct me if I am wrong, full scale pilots are not pushed out too soon to finish their training on their own. They have to have a certain level of competency and not be a threat to their safety and others. We need to have a mechanism that if a group of pilots (maybe at least three) think that a pilots skills need to be recertified, the club will temporarily pull their flying privileges until they have proven they have the minimum competency. This isn’t about the incident that just happened as I wasn’t there, this is about other issues that I have witnessed that should be addressed.

RE: FSA Clubhouse
Fellow FSA flyers Let’s ALL take a break and settle down. The problem here is the “Telephone Game. By the time everyone has heard the story it has changed so much that no one really knows the truth anymore. Here are a few facts about where we are with flying field. I am not talking about anyone specific (east side/west side/up side/downside/left end/right end, rear end). 1) We have lost the Field Marshal and we haven’t had one in at least 2 years. 2) We no longer have safety officers 3) We try and police ourselves, but etiquette goes out the window and sometimes it isn’t said in a polite and not in an accusatory way. 4) We have members that are not considerate of each other or treat each other they way the they would like to be treated 5) We have members that should be recertified as being able to fly their planes. 6) We have rules that have been overlooked or not enforced across the club. Let’s clear up a few things about the low high speed passed down the middle of the runway. This rule was changed/brought to the club unilaterally by our president in 06 in a note to the Field Marshal and security officers. The rule change is as follows: - High speed low level passes can be done down the middle of the runway when the pilot is the only one in the box. All other high speed low level passes must be done over the high grass when others are present. That was the rule change. Now, this rule was semi voted on in the next meeting as it was basically said, the rule is being changed to the above nomenclature. There was a little bit of discussion, but the rule was basically adopted. That weekend was when Keith ran down to say that there was a rule change. I wasn’t there so I do not know what or how Keith explained the change in the rule. Maybe he should have been clearer, don’t know. The problem is the fact that we are forgetting that some pilots push their equipment to the limit as well as their flying ability. As Mike T pointed out members not doing the proper maintenance on their planes, or stressing the airframe to the point of failure, or not changing the plumbing or checking servos which can all lead to failure and a catastrophic accident. The main issue here is safety or the lack there of within this club. Everyone one gets their panties in a bunch anytime someone comes to them with a corrective issue. People have polarized the club with a lot of innuendo and gossip without knowing the real facts. We should not be airing our dirty laundry for the entire world to see including the AMA. Why don’t we all take a break from this conversation on the internet and discuss it during the next meeting. If we need to make the rule change that was made 2 years ago permanent and in the by-laws, then we make it, if we need to keep the rule the way it is, then we do it. But lets all stop putting our crap out there for the world to see. DD
