Who the hell do they think they are? And why does anyone buy products from them? Unreal.

RE: Skymaster Mig-29 OVT Single with S-bus Build
i've never had a jet that had a bifurcated pipe, pretty nervous about heat. This pipe has to bend down, then Y, then bend up again... There is a reason Tam makes scale metal nozzles for this plane.... the regular ones will melt off without heat protection...[;)] I painted the top hatch and the nozzles with BVM heat shield. I will be painting the floor as well. I have some wiring going up between the two hatches, near the end of the turbine. Very nervous about this area. The wires will be about where the tail cone starts on the turbine, about 3" away. I put three layers of heat blanket and metal foil in between, I have an infrared temp gun, I will monitor this area very closely!

RE: Skymaster Mig-29 OVT Single with S-bus Build
Looks like I already took them. I cut the original blocks off, then took some clay and pushed the gear door on to set the proper height. Then made wooden blocks and used a piece of cable tie and two small wood screws to secure it. Not very fancy, but it works perfectly. I did the same for the nose gear and it worked fine. Getting all the gear doors to play nice was a PIA. Lots of trimming and running the gear doors to get them to open and close well. Dantlely told me his got stuck. I am going to put larger tabs everywhere to keep them from getting caught in flight. the big tab on the rear main gear door sits outside of the door, not inside. If its inside, it binds as the gear opens. I might cut it back a bit and see how it works. In between the rear and middle main gear door, the fuse flexes quite a bit. I am going to put a little bulkhead between the fuse and the fuel tank and glue it in. This will add some rigidity and I hope, keep the doors cycling properly. I put the mig up, if I get it down soon, I will take pics of the nose gear.

RE: Meister Japanese Zero build thread
Here's a rough iphone vid. The zero sounded like a lot raspier and for lack of a better word out of sync than the other radials. The tigercat and bearcat flew at the same time, they sounded smooth, the zero sound was very distinct. Must have been chilling hearing those planes flying over pear harbor.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAvlDU3fbGc This is the paint scheme, it looked great.

RE: Meister Japanese Zero build thread
I got to see a real live zero fly today. The radial sounded so much cooler than the other planes at the show. It flew with a hurricane. Paul Allen has a lot of nice toys!

Another vote for jackie sacks, I had three sets made, much higher quality than the other ones I've purchased. You get what you pay for....

RE: Fly Eagle Jet F-14 Crash (video)
ORIGINAL: jetpilot Several of us have shared our experiences regarding other manufacturors. I had an issue with a jet from SM and Anton stepped right up without hesitation. He never tried to buy silence, nor pass blame, immediately contacted customers, corrected the problem and sent out new parts to all customers. I purchased two more jets right after this experience because of his excellent customer service and support. Looking at another from him now. Scott
I received a Skymaster Mig with some small cracks in the fuse and the top of the canopy frame. More experienced builders may have just fixed it and moved on, Skymaster made me new plane. If I was in a time crunch it would have sucked, but to make an entire new airframe... pretty cool. I still think they hire third graders to pack them, but I'm happy with their customer service.

RE: New Aero Tech Epoxy Glue 50ml JP2012
Any of you used fastweld epoxy before? I had to use it out at the field to make a repair. Handles just like hysol, but hardens in ten minutes. Its $25 for a 9oz tube... or $10 for the reg 50ml cartridge. I'm curious Dave, did you do any strength testing with this product? I was really impressed with the strength, but it doesn't take a lot to impress me...LOL

RE: Current FEJ 1/7.5 F-14 owners I have a small question
I was thinking about this recently. I know with analog servos, it was a big deal to adjust linkages so that the servos would go through its full range. Does this matter anymore with digitals? Or, are we holding onto old principals? I have no idea. Also, for the amount of actual time and amount of force these servos get loaded, is it a big deal if they don't go full range? How many hours is a hardcore jet guy going to put on one of these servos in a year? Love to hear input from someone in the know! I am setting up the linkage on the thrust vectoring for my skymaster mig right now. The nozzle is only going to go 15 degrees at max one way. The servo is barely going to move with a 1" arm. Any smaller and I'm hitting the side of the servo case with the big carbon pushrod.

RE: Storage - hanging jets from the ceiling
I just went to home depot and bought pulleys and rope. I wanted to be able to do it without a ladder. Kind of precarious to pull it up with two different ropes for front and back. I tried to do it other ways, balance just didn't work out. I want a bigger garage!

I need the right shade of green....
....For the wheels on my Mig-29. I've confirmed that the red/white and blue star scheme has green wheels in real life, I want to find that color. Anyone know the pea green color that they use to paint the mig wheels? No idea why they use the unattractive color, but I want it to roughly resemble the real thing...

Skymaster Mig-29 CG question
For those of you who have built this jet. I have the kit, getting ready to start the install. I have the vectored thrust which will add more weight to the rear. I want to ballpark where I place components, how does this plane build? Nose heavy? Tail heavy? I am going to use three battery packs with s-bus. two will be near the CG, one will be in the nose. Does anyone who has the OVT have a futaba program I could have? be nice to get a template! thanks

Not sure who is more excited about the waiver, me or Roberto...[:D] Hope to have my Mig ready by next year...

I saw it in the jet forum, Used the search engine with no luck. Bvm bobcat needs crow! The manual has the "butterfly" that looks perfect, but it's only for gliders. Thanks

RE: Futaba S-Bus system
I've been on flying giants reading about Sbus. They are flying Sbus in 1/3 scale planes with no extra batteries. Aren't they drawing way more amps than a jet? Are we going overboard on the redundancy?

RE: Futaba S-Bus system
Thanks Bart, I appreciate you explaining things to some of us who are electrically challenged, if you ever have any tooth questions, I'm your man!. I have 12 servos to the flight controls of the sky master Mig. Could I take three of these hubs and run them off of one Sbus cable to the back? The Robbe 4.1 says its only good for 10 servos. Or, should I just buck up and buy the battery backer? Cost isn't the issue, complexity is...
