RE: Did I screw up the wing on my avenger?
I flew the crap out of this plane last night, works great! My other avenger can snap with too much elevator, this one holds its line the whole time. I see that Seaholm has used delrin for the engine mount on the new one, I'd like to have a stiffer mount on mine, after a few flights, it bends to the left... I think I hooked a buddy on combat last night :-) I built avenger #2 solely to drum up interest, (and have someone to play with) I've done almost every aspect of R/C, turbines, big 3d planes, helis, gliders... combat is the most fun I've had so far! And for the cost of the turbine jet I built, I could buy 35 ready to fly avengers! Defnitely great bang for the buck. Mike

Did I screw up the wing on my avenger?
I built one last year, love it. Finished the second one yesterday, and realized(after I was done) that I didn't narrow the chord towards the wingtip. What is this going to do for performance. The chord should be around 5" at the tip, and mine is 5 3/4" Curious to see if I notice a difference.... Mike

RE: Lanier Slasher and Ripper?
I had a slasher, now have two avengers.... I liken the slasher to a semi-truck, and the avenger to a ferrari...;-) If it was a competition to see who could take the most mid-airs.. I think the slasher would rock! Just kind of a blunt instrument. The avenger is slick. Mike

RE: Extreme Flight E-YAK!!!
Mine is on the way. Few questoins for the experts.. I want to stick with 3s, not a big plane pilot, have quite a few 3s packs ranging from 2000 to 2650... Should I need larger than a 2650 pack to run this thing? I know chris built this thing for the hs65, I plan to use futaba servos, I've seen the 3110 mentioned... will it fit without modifying servo mounts? Thanks, Mike

Matt, It starts perfectly every time now... Just can't determine why it won't go past 80K rpm??? I have not tried to change throttle throws yet. I am sure its set for the max rpm, 122k, in the ecu. Any ideas? Mike

Fixed my P180 starting problem, now have another.....
Turns out the electric starter motor was bad, fixed it and it starts every time... After I swapped out the failed kero start glow plug! Ughhh I bought the JetCat because people say they are very reliable... My initial experience has not been that good... So, I have the starting bugs ironed out , but the turbine won't go past 80K rpm. I have it set to max 112K and at full throttle, it goes to 80-83K Is this a fuel flow issue? Do I need to up the fuel pump voltage? The throttle is at 100%, should I increase travel past 100%? Thank god I had a buddy who has lots of spares for jetcat, or this first time turbine owner might have gone crazy!!!!! Thanks, Mike

RE: How do canards work???
Hoss, Mixed with the elevator, your manual should give you suggestions for throws. You can have a landing mix with a little up canard so that the angle of attack will be increased which will slow down the plane for landing. Is that what you mean by flaps? The canarad goes opposite of the elevator... ie up elevator would look like down canard. I put 10 degrees up canard in a mix for landing. Same thing on take off would get the nose off the ground faster... Hope this helps, Mike

RE: T14 MZ programming for Eurosport
skynv, Are you using a 14MZ also? the AFR(d/r) screen allows you to do quite a bit... when mixing the elevons, it gives a huge aileron input and mild elevator... you have to dumb down the aileron travel in the AFR screen... so, set the aileron like you want, then change the afr for the elevator until you get it like you want. I can email you a program if you would like. Andreas, sounds like you just need to set up different flight modes(conditions) If you ahve two servos per wing, you could have one mix with traditional elevons, with two servos on each side working together. Then another mix with the inboard being elevator, and the outboard being the ailerons... The radio can do it, just have to assign the channels and create the conditions and mixes.... Mike

RE: Started P180 w/kero start for the first time... a few questions....
OK, here's where I'm at right now. I soldered the molex plug to within about 6 inches of the jetcat 2400 pack, and a new 3600 pack. Tried both of them, got several different outcomes: I tried to do it with about 2 feet of wire with a deans connector in between, it didn't work so I bypassed it altogether. 1. Batt fail shows up as soon as I turn rx switch on, but it will let me try to start. 2. I got it to preheat, then start, electric motor started, then says low rpm... 3. did preheat, START shows, then yellow LED. So, the best I got was the starter turning over, and not enough rpm .... the worst, was nothing. plug it in, says batt pail or power fail, can't remember which. My friends pack worked fine, we are going to try it again, but this doesn't make sense. ONe guess is that my trusty old hitec charger isn't up to snuff, but that wouldn't explain charging the 3600 pack out at the field with a friends digital charger. Help! Mike

RE: Started P180 w/kero start for the first time... a few questions....
Ron, thank you very much for the offer, already tracked one down though... Matt, I'm using a deans connector inbetween to charge. I have an r/c heli that has two 5s4p packs at 16000mah drawing peaks of over 80 amps.... the deans are not the weak link! The 3600 pack I bought is from the r/c car crowd, "the best pack they sold" It didn't work with the jetcat 2400 pack either.... I will test the new connector tomorrow night... If that doesn't work, I'll have to dig deeper... The gsu would either say power fail, or go through reheat then get stuck on START Thanks, Mike

Started P180 w/kero start for the first time... a few questions....
So I finally had a nice day to take the Eurosport to the field... Not ready to fly it, but was at a point where I could run the turbine... I purchased a 3600 MAH pack for the ECU. I met an experienced jet guy out at our field to go over everything.... we had previously set up the radio at my house... We bled the two kero lines, and went to start the turbine.... it showed that it was heating the element, then tried to start, but got the YELLOW LED and nothing.... figured it must be my battery pack, so we pulled mine and put his 2400 pack that had the green connector directly wired to it. Plug the batt in, do the start sequence and it fired up the first time! Euphoria[:D] Very cool to hear my pride and joy finally come to life... So my friend takes his battery pack and has to leave, I charge my 3600 pack, I use deans conectors, so I plugged it my wiring harness with the green plug back into the ecu, try to start it...nothing.... So now I figure the 3600 pack is bad, even though brand new, and took a full charge... So I pack up, go home and take the stock 2400 pack that jetcat provides and try to start it....nothing... At this point, my only guess is that the green plug is bad??? When looking at the connectors, one of them is shoved in a ways, and another is pushed out... I am well versed at how to properly solder things... and I pulled all the heat shrink and checked just in case.... I don't have another plug, so have to sit and scratch my head until I can try it again.... Any ideas?? Mike

RE: Is my Eurosport obese?
Awesome replies! Thanks guys, I was kind of freaking out on the weight thing..... I have not pinned the rear underneath hatch. It was my understanding that the bolts were ripping out of the ply mounts?? I went way overkill on reinforcing this area both on the hatch and the fuse. Comp-arf sealed the wing roots, and I have huge holes where the fake exhaust goes.... I was under the impression that the hatch coming off problem was on the earlier kits???? I will do it if I really need to, however then I wouldn't be able to take hatch off with wings installed....be a pia.... unless I'm missing how its done.....?????? thanks again, Mike

Is my Eurosport obese?
Finally got everything together enough to weigh the jet.... 32.5 pounds dry! It has a P180, and smoke, but damn! Only thing I did differently was install a speedbrake and a tray underneath it to hold gauges and fill valves.... Am I in trouble? Comp arf says 22-24 pounds... That seems really optimisitic.... Next question, even at this weight, I figured I should dial the P180 down a bit, are there any graphs to show turbine rpm vs. thrust? I don't know that keeping it at full power would be wise?? Thanks, Mike

Leaking jetcat fuel filter....
I have two of the machined aluminum fuel filters from jetcat.. I put one of them on my fuel jug. I lubricated the O-ring like it said to do(silicone based lube), was fueling today and it leaked all over the place... Can I put teflon tape around it? Haven't got to the one in the jet yet, dont want it to leak in the jet!! Mike

RE: Need help on turbine/pipe install on Eurosport
Moving the turbine up 1/8" seems to have fixed the prob... I was hoping the pipe and turbine would line up perfectly the first time[8|] silly me... Took the first pic, and posted it before I even thought about the way of solving the problem.. It would be neat to "bore site" these things.... Does anyone do this? Put a laser pointer at the back of the pipe, then shine it on the cone on the back of the turbine? I might try that when I permanently mount the pipe....
What's the pipe mounted to on the front end? Is that the "large" pipe that Tam makes for the Euro?
Bob, This is Tams HD one.... Here is what I came up with to mount the front end... [image]http://home.comcast.net/~m.scoles/pipemount.jpg[/image] On the other end, can I just let it friction fit into the last bulkhead that holds the fake exhaust nozzles?? Tam didn't put any sort of tabs on that end... it fits fairly well, just not sure if I need to free it up from the wood and support it with mounting tabs????????? Thanks, Mike

Need help on turbine/pipe install on Eurosport
I mounted the turbine, perfectly symmetrical to the round opening in one of the bulkheads. Put the pipe in, and it looks like the turbine might be hanging down on the back end a little. I cannot bring the pipe up to completely compensate, feel like I need to raise back end of motor mount. Do I just make a wooden shim? Or am I missing something else? bend the aluminum bracket? Its a P180, using stock bracket it came with. And a Tams pipe.... Cannot change the hole at the back where the pipe exits either, it is right up against the fiberglass base of the rudder.
