RE: TOWER HOBBIES SUCKS
If you have been their customer since 1996, have you gotten on any of these public forums and praised their service and products? I'm assuming you have been generally happy with them to keep ordering. You had a screw up couple of times and you come on the net slamming a big company that has been in business for many years. Give them a chance to make it right prior to slamming them. Their customer service is excellent.

I Searched the thread for cockpit kit and could not find any info. Is there a cockpit kit for the classic flash? If there is where do I get one? Thanks

RE: WHY GO EDF IF YOU HAVE TURBINES?
HI Matt, You have seen my comp arf spark fly. It's my first electric jet. I have so much fun flying it. It is true that it lacks the "oomph" of my turbines (even though I can hit 165 on flat and level flight with unlimited vertical with 5 min on the timer) but I can't ignore the fun factor, and the reliability of the power plant. I still like my turbines but when I just want to come out and fly, it's not a "big production". I don't have an suv/truck/van and so to fit the turbine powered jets, fuel and support gear in a sedan is a great deal of work for me. I can see larger (128mm on 14s) electrics in my future but I will not write off my turbines just yet. I'm enjoying both at this time. Next time when you are out you can have a go with my spark and feel for yourself. Here is part of my fleet.

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
ORIGINAL: smitty1001 You wouldn't necessarily see it. We're talking xxxx hairs here ;) Can you move a battery back or something and have a go at it? Also, you have some resident flash experts nearby - I bet doug & co. could help you get it dialed in? When it's sitting on the ground empty, if you tip the nose up and rest it on it's tail, does it stay? Or fall back to nosewheel?
Ok thanks. Sounds like my plane is nose heavy. When I tip the nose up and rest it on it's tail the nose falls back to nose-wheel. I have a P-160 in it and have added some nose weight for balance. I can remove that weight and see what happens. Yes I fly with Doug A. When I see him I'll ask him to have a go with my plane and tell me what he thinks. Thanks Goose for the conditions suggestion. If removing weight from the nose does not help, go with conditions (I have to figure out how to do that on a 12z)
ORIGINAL: Mavrik!
ORIGINAL: Robrow
ORIGINAL: Mavrik!
ORIGINAL: basimpsn Hey guys, anyone having problem with U/F climb with full power? and what the fix. Thanks
Its nose heavy! Should be straight and level at any throttle setting! Mav
Ahhh....so that's why mine does it? Could have sworn the CG was pretty much by the book. Does that mean it will dive inverted at full power? Rob.
Sure will :( I fly mine slightly tail heavy. Inverted I just breath a touch of down (almost none required). Just makes it more pitch sensitive which is how I like to fly anyway. Everybody has their own set up and preference, so find your sweet spot! Then Go pull some G's!!!!!! Happy flyin! Mav
Is this also true for the Classic Flash? Mine also climbs at full throttle. In addition, it dives hard when gear are deployed. Can anyone explain why it climbs if nose heavy. I would think it would dive if it was nose heavy at full throttle. Thanks

The turbine governing body should force them to make and supply an instructional video with each sale.
Turbine Governing Body? Who? I thought you lived in the Land Of The Free?
Well, that might be the AMA there. You cannot fly w/o a waiver right? so they are regulation the turbine segment in my book. Gerry
You only are required a turbine waiver to fly in an AMA sanctioned field/event. Anyone can buy a turbine powered model and fly in the desert or a public air field. If something goes wrong you are on your own.

This is a long thread and I have done a search regarding wheels coming off during take-off but the best I found was to keep the speeds below 80mph. Someone also has mentioned using Zap-A-Dap-A-Goo to glue the wheels on the rims. Are there any other options/suggestions? Thanks

RE: RE:
I have a 12s setup (6s+6s in series) of gens ace 5300mah. The batteries come off the plane at about 109 degrees F and after coming down to 90 deg F I chgarge them at 3C rate (about 16A). I have 65 cycles on these batteries and IR of each cell is about 1-2mohms. There is no noticable performance difference since they were new. I also storage charge them at 3.85v/cell and store them in the fridge. The newer batteries can be safely charged at higher currents from 3c-8c depending on the manufacturer. Some can also be charged at even higher rates.
ORIGINAL: Harley Condra
ORIGINAL: DrV What do you guys think of powering a bandit with a p70? Thanks
The P-70 is an excellent engine choice for the Bandit ARF Mk II. The used prices of the P-70 are dropping now as the newer tech engines hit the market, so good deals are available. Bob Wilcox has plenty of parts to keep the P-70's going for a long time. The correct P-70

I have used 3s lipo in my Futaba 9c for 5 years now. No problems at all. But the alternatives of eneloops and LiFe batteries I would say are safer.

Good retailer to deal with. Their main stores are here in California. They do have good deals when they have sales. They carry a lot of "toys" since the margin of profit is significantly greater then the "hobby grade stuff".

RE: A123 Discharged unknown reason
I have used regulators in the past (smart fly) that will still have current running through it even if the switch is off. In my case, I had to disconnect the battery from the regulator completely. I don't have any experience in optical kill switches so I can't answer the other part of your question.

RE: LiPo Storage (How Long is Too Long?)
ORIGINAL: collector1231 I'd give them a storage charge (40% or whatever your charger specifies as a storage charge) and they should be good for, i'd say 1 1/2  years.
I'm not sure how the 1.5 year number was derived. I have batteries that are well over 3 years old and still perform well and also had batteries that took a dump after 6 months. And yes, I store them at 3.85v/cell at 36 degrees. I do not discharge over 80% of capacity. During use they do not go over 110 degrees. There are many variables that effect the longevity of the cells. Usually heat, charge state(if kept fully charged or repeatedly discharged over 80% of capacity) and type of ab/use. I would check the internal resistance of each cell in the pack, storage charge/discharge them between 3.8-3.85v/cell and store them in a cool place (I store mine at 36 degrees). When you are ready to use the batteries again let them come to room temperature(about 75 degrees) and check for internal resistance again. You can also cycle them once and check IR again. Another way to check is if the cells are holding good voltage under load (generally 3.7v/cell and above is good) More info here http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1330647 Lots of info in this thread http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1477091

RE: TP820C or Hyperion EOS720i Duo ?
I have the TP820 and a friend has the Hyperion. I use a Honda EU2000i connected to a server power supply to power the charger. I charge two 6S 5300mAh (one on each port) at 15A. After a flight (12S setup) 4.5min of lying and putting back about 3800-4000mAh it takes 15-17 minutes. I really like this charger. My friend's Hyperion 720 is very similar but has two displays which he likes a lot. One thing that I don't like about that charger is that it resets while charging if connected to my generator. The way the charging algorithm works is that it stops for few seconds to analyze voltage of battery then it ramps up to the specified amperage immediately. If the generator is running on an ECO mode then it can't ramp up fast enough and the charger resets. The only solution is to run it with ECO mode off which makes the generator louder and less efficient. If you will be running the charger from your home power source or 12-24V deep cycle batteries then there is no problem. Both are good chargers. Whichever you go with you would not be disappointed.

RE: A123 Question
Hi Billy, I have the Orbit Pocketlader and I use it to charge the genuine A123 Rx packs without a problem. Yes it does say LiFP on the Orbit and that's the correct mode for A123. You just have to be careful about monitoring voltage of the battery. It does not work like a LiPo. You can't tell how much capacity is left with just checking voltage. You have to see how much charge (mAh) you are putting back after each flight and fly/charge accordingly. Mike
