RE: EXI-450 discussions/mods/scale projects
ORIGINAL: Zim-uh-tosa Yo Dummy Doggy!!! Hows project RCrawl in Osssoyoozz?
LOL.... Still drool'n over'm... lean'n very heavy towards a Venom... Only trouble is my Laptop HD packed it in and I need my lappy... So I may have to drool a bit longer... But I WILL get there... I like the idea of crashing and then not having to repair for a week before flying again... :) Aslo running for several hours on a battery sounds good too... LOL For now... I LURK.... which reminds me... I've been out from under my rock for far to long now... have to scurry back... :D cheers bro

RE: Look what finally showed up...
I've had these on a HBK2 for years and never had one fail yet... You can't compare them really with RC cars/trucks because different forces are at work... RC cars etc get flexed and can break... Heli turnbuckles don't get flexed but get subjected to compression and extension forces... so they just don't break... or come loose... I'm pretty certain they'll work just as good on the 450 as they do the smaller freakier K2's... happy heli'n

RE: EXI-450 discussions/mods/scale projects
SHAZAAMM... Thats what I wanted... the Mini Titan... I have a link to a site that has tons of manual if you need it... As for heli's you can't really compare a Trex with the EXI 450 basic model... Like comparing a VW with a Porche... But like Crash says... when pats break or wear out simply replace with better parts whether they are chinese aftermarkets or Align... Both work well... appy heli'n

RE: EXI-450 discussions/mods/scale projects
Depends on which EXI you have... or are getting... The EXI basic is built around the TRex V2 and you can use that manual... The EXI Pro I believe is based on a.... brain fart and its gone... Someone else will be able to answer that right Crash.. :D cheers

RE: EXI-450 discussions/mods/scale projects
Hey guyz... Not sure if I mentioned this... Got a new tail servo and a new 40A HobbyWing esc... Took the EXI out for a fly... which lasted all of about 3 minutes... I had pulled the heli into a hover.. Did a couple quick piro's to see how the tail servo was going to hold... Then I did a quick pass under the apricot tree and pulled up on the other side to do a hard left bank turn and come back under the tree again... But halfway thru my turn I got distracted for an instant and drove the bird into the grass... I did manage to push the Throttle Hold button just before it hit... LOL... So... a little damage done but thats why I had a spare sitting in the closet... DUG It out, swapped over and almost back in the air... Just have to do some final setups and it should be ready to... sell... :) lol happy heli'n

RE: EXI-450 discussions/mods/scale projects
I'm using the aluminum boom and don't experience any static problems... I think the CF booms do have more of a problem with static interferencing than stock booms... I could be wrong but this is what I remember from some discussions about static... I have yet to ground any of my heli's... so can't confirm whether it works or not... cheers

RE: EXI-450 discussions/mods/scale projects
What servo's do you have on the cyclic??? I was using some Hitec 65HB's and two of them were wonky from the word go... Have you tested them to see if they are ok??? How much jitter are they showing etc... BTW... I did contact Hitec over these servo's and am waiting for a reply... So I'll have to wait to see if they will fix or replace them... I'm using the 401b gyro too on my two heli's I'm currently flying and thats the EXI and the K2... both work great with NO troubles so far... Zim... If I remember right you ordered some batteries from EC Power, no?? How are they working out... I'm asking because it appears that EC Power has either changed battery suppliers because their batteries are coming up slightly puffed and/or bigger than they should be, also with not very good power performances... I know a couple of guyz that bought there recently and they are having some big customer service problems too... To bad because the earlier batteries I got worked great, were cheap and I had good service... I'll not be recommending them anymore for sure... Anyrate... nice day flinally so I'm off to do a bit O fly'n today... cheers

Well..... The battery charged up just nicely and even balanced out well too.... So lipo's it seems can be resurrected some... Wouldn't want to be doing this all the time but seems this time I got away with it.... Thx for the inputs guyz.... I'm not down one battery like I thought I was going to be.... cheers

RE: dead lipo...
SHAZAAM!!! Seems to be working.... Put the charger, the mean one, on NiMh, .1 amp and left it on charge that way for about 15 minutes and then switched it over to lipo... Charger reconised it and is now charging it up... I have it on slow charge, still at .1 amp, and will charge it nice and slow.... May take a while but thats not a concern.... SWEET!!!! Going to have to remember that trick... Just in case I need to use it again... probably will... lol Thx Jeff.... happy heli'ns

RE: dead lipo...
Well I've got a couple options here now... Many Thx guyz... I'll just see what the ESky charger does first... Maybe stick it on there for a bit and it may put enough juice into it for me to charge it on the other chargers... If not then I'd stick my charger on NiMh for a few minutes and see if it won't juice it up enough to recognize it as a lipo... Mucho Thx happy heli'n Unfortunately mines not a nice charger... Speaks meanly to me and makes faces all the time... :) lol

dead lipo...
Heres the problem... I inadvertently left out one battery over the winter that didn't get checked and the voltage is to low for the charger to charge... I've tried regular charging with lowest amp settings, regular settings and fast charge but the chargers will not charge it... Does anyone know how to kick start a low voltage lipo??? I'm wanting to try and maybe get a little more life out of it if possible... I know once they go below 20% csp that they are generally done for but would like to try and revive it before I toss it in the bin... Any ideas??? happy fly'ns

[b]OH CRIKEY!!!! RE: EXI-450 discussions/mods/scale projects
I have the $20.00 metal tail from Deal Extreme, I think thats where I got it... and I have noticed the same thing about over traveling... Mine does the same thing when it gets near the frame, it wants to stick a bit... Grease and oil don't solve the problem but with the G401B I just used the limiter and it works great... The HS-65's that I'd bought some time earlier are all wonky... Thats probably WHY I had so much trouble... I have the ESky servo tester, not that great of product but it helps when centering the servo for horn installs... Two of the 65's jitter crazy all thru the top and mid ranges and settle down near the bottom... The third servo jitters at the top and settles down near the middle... Think this may be the problem??? hhmmmm The Hextronic's don't jitter at all... solid all thru the ranges so guess whats going to happen to the 65's... Man... Typical of my luck... as usual I get the junk made on a Friday or Monday's.... not sure what to do with them now... ( HS-65's)... Installing the Hextronics and let you know what happens later... Thx for the heads up crash... appreciate it... cheers

RE: EXI-450 discussions/mods/scale projects
HHmm... I just put a a new digital tail servo but when I put it on the servo tester and set it for my 90 degree it worked fine with no jitter at all... so that leaves the Hitec 65's... I don't have any spares of those so if I find one thats gone I'll have to replace the whole shoot'n match... I may do that anyway... I'll swap out the 65's and replace them with the Hextronic's... I have some MG14's that I'll try out... I think I'll still write an email to Horizon and see what they suggest too... can't hurt I'm think'n... Thx mon...

RE: EXI-450 discussions/mods/scale projects
Man... Think I might have to send my Tx in after all... I've used four new esc's, two Mystery 30A's and I found two other FlyerMate's that I tried as well... ALL of them are doing the same things... I'm kinda certain it couldn't be ALL the esc's having the same troubles??? I just charged the batteries so everything is full and fresh... Tx all charged up too... When I start spooling up I get to about half throttle when things start going funky... Sometimes goes to full throttle and now stick input will drop the throttle... Push repeatedly on the Throttle Cut and nothing happens until about the 4th - 5th push of the button... I was think'n it was just the junky Mystery esc's but now with exactly the same thing with two different esc's... what are the chances of that... SMEG!!! What says everyone else here... every hear of this like this problem??? Think its the Tx??? happyn smeg'n fly'n

RE: 2nd hand gyros????
Just to clarify the opinions I see here and my own stand... I agree that the forums are great for getting info whether agreeing to or conflicting... this will ALWAYS happen regardless of what heli or components you are talking about... I get flamed at helifreak because I say AVOID buying the ESky components because of their poor quality control... But like Arrow says, and I agree, that I'm NOT here to agree to anyone elses opinions... I too prefer to tell things the way I see them and answer honestly and with my experiences... Everyone knows texting is a poor medium for transmitting thoughts and especially intents... That being said... I don't have any troubles buying more expensive components with the mind to moving them to better heli's, and have done so... BUT... if I don't have any real plans for buying a more expensive heli then to drop a $150.00 plus gyro or other components into a cheap entry market heli isn't the best move, IMO... Especially when there are cheaper and nearly equal quality components availble... With gyro's this means a Telebee or the G401B gyro which do the job equally as well or near enough to it that a new heli pilot won't know the difference... My point wasn't to deny considering the option of picking up a more expensive gyro but to give some other 'food for thought' for consideration. Not just one point either agreeing to or refuting... Still... IF ur not sure the hobby is something you are going to seriously invest in, in the future, then my point is to ask why would you toss in an expensive gyro, to crash with, over buying a more reasonable gyro... Unless the price is very good and theres a guarantee that its not damaged in any way then of course its a consideration... That was MY point... happy fly'n

RE: EXI-450 discussions/mods/scale projects
Personally... If theres no 'contact Us' or address info... I won't buy from them... If they have to hid where they are from or who to contact then for me I can't be bothered to buy from them... what do you do if you get a faulty or doa component??? Might be a hasle to go thru... But thats just the way I work... cheers

RE: 2nd hand gyros????
Fails is fail.... like you said... won't initialize, adjustment pots don't work, won't hold settings... this shows up as tail not holding, constant readjusting, usually all around the original setting... Depending on the price of the gyro and what you are putting it in... IMO dropping a $150.00+ gyro into a 125.00 heli is a little silly... Putting it in an expensive heli I can see it but to put an expensive gyro into an inexpensive starter heli... well..... each to their own I guess... If its for a K2 probably a better choice would be a Telebee(ATV) or the G401B gyro... Both work great, inexpensive and lots of support... But... I don't know what ur buying and for how much so thats for you to decide which is the better route to go... food for thought... good luck Happy heli'n

RE: 2nd hand gyros????
Personally.... I wouldn't buy a used gyro... what if it fails next week??? Will the guy take it back... probably not... How many crashes has it been tru and how old is it??? They don't last forever altho treated right will last a good while... IMO... If I buy a new gyr it will have some sort of return possibilities if it dies and there are some very good gyro's on the market now for very little money... Like cnchelicopters G401B gyro... just my opinion... happy fly'n
