RE: 14 tooth clutch bell on monsoon
I'm looking for info on this as well. The largest extended bell available is the 12t. I want to convert to a standard short clutch bell that can be purchased from Exceed for $4.00, than I can go to a 14, 15t clutch bell. I have some ideas on how to do it, need to post some photos and get some feed back from others who have done it. Have you had any luck? Dusty

Exceed Brushless System, How's It Working?
I now have two Exceed brushless systems in two of my my 1/10th trucks. The systems are erratic with intermittent problems. There are many fail safe features that seem to be keeping the ESC from working properly. Some times it will not go in reverse other times it will not go at all or it goes from standing still to full throttle and shuts down again. I'm using 4000 & 5000 MAH NI MH batterys. I suspect one problem is the ESC overheating, has anybody tried the cooling fan option? I am thinking the motor is pretty simple and it must be the ESC that is causing all the trouble. Has anybody tried a different brand ESC with the stock motor? When it runs it runs well! Any words of wisdom? Dusty

Monsoon Clutch Bell conversion, short bell.
Looking for ideas on switching over from the extended clutch bell to a standard one. I'm sure some of you have done this I just cannot find the thread/information. After the switch what gearing are you running? I am thinking of making a plate to mount the engine, the plate would be slotted and held on with the original mounting holes using stand off's to mount the plate. I can poast photos later. Dusty

RE: parts i got from redcat
Heads up guys on Nitro RCX, if you need something a specific color DO NOT expect to get the correct color!!! This has happened to me several times! Lot's of parts in stock and good price & delivery. They are expensive on the shipping though and if you have an order problem you have to take what you get and like it! NO SUPPORT, they are just not on here any longer! I'm going to try ordering from Himoto USA, things seem to be good over there. Dusty

Hey Himoto, is there anyway to get Alum. Oil filled shocks without those god awful NEON springs? The anodised blue is fantastic but that NEON yellow/ Green has to go. Can I order just black springs? Dusty

Viper Parts Availability Direct From Himoto?
How are things when ordering parts direct from Himoto? I have had ok luck with Exceed but Andy seems to be gone so there is no help with problems. I have a Volcano but Red Cat has totally messed up their web site again and the parts are much more than Exceed or Himoto when compairing the same part. So I am looking for other part options, here I can get parts for my Exceed and my Red Cat Trucks! What's the scoop? Dusty

RE: Redcats Monsoon Thread
Just a note on the 10 tooth, I'm running the monster truck wheels, thay are larger raising the gearing. I take my bell apart to clean and lube the breaings after about 5 times running the vehicle, a lot of grit gets in the nose of the bell. There is a thread on alternative clutch bell parts to run in here somewhere already. There are several different options for parts, just have to find the thread! Dusty

RE: Redcats Monsoon Thread
I had to re-shim my clutch bell, I did so before I blew out my gears. I also noticed the slots in the chassis are barely long enough to get the correct mesh. You may have to file out the slots a bit to close up the gap between gears. I am runing a 10 tooth clutch bell. If you run a bigger bell gear it may help with the problem but I like the 10 tooth bell. Dusty

Good to see you here Andy, I just boght a 1/8 Truggy, so far so good, except for that parked car I hit! Thanks for the tip on the slow speed screw, I'm still tuning my truck. It's been a little cold so a bit of a challange. Another coment, Exceed is almost identical. I have three now and they are good for the buck to get into the fun. Dusty

RE: Thinking about going brushless....
Do not waste your time and money with low turn brushed motors. The new brushless technology is the way to go. A group of us here just went through this (low turn motors) and the gearing is way too tall and you will just fry the motors, (we went through the gearing thing as well) I meen melt the plastic bell right out of them! I wasted two Trinity motors this way! I went back to all stock for awhile and my truck runs just as good as a low turn motor running a 5000mha battery, stock motor and brush conditioner. And a new stock motor is $9.00. So, I went brushless, the Red Cat system is affordable ($120.00), durable, very fast and way more efficiant than a brushed system. On the batterys, get the highest MHA battery you are willing to put the money out for!!!! also, do not get them hot when charging them, this will take all the snap out of them.

RE: servo saver
Wow, loks like that part is just worn out! I wore mine out and replaced it on my turggy after a few months of running. I know for the 1/8 scale there is am ALU upgrade. If there is one available for the 1/10 that looks like the way to go to me. I will be making this upgrade to my Monsoon when the stock one looks like yours! A stock replacement is only a few bucks and your vehicle will turn great again! Dusty

RE: Red Cat Support GOOD!
Good points guys, all well taken. I have worked retail at parts departments and the expcetations of the custormers is sometimes pretty unbleavable especially if your getting 300 busted parts a day. There is a fine line between giving away the store and keeping a profitable business. It would be good PR in the case of a pull start, (something that did not break because one hit a parked car like me) to offer the guy one for cost plus shipping or a 50/50 deal. Hay pull starts can be faulty as well as people being too rough on them. Luckly my puller has been good so far... Hopefully we will all be up and running again soon rather than griping about parts!!! Cheers, Dusty

RE: Gear pitch on electric redcats?
I ended up using Tamiya drive gears on my 1/10th electrics. It worked fine although I think the pitch is different than stock because if one compairs the stock gear with the same tooth # in Tamiya the Tamiya is smaller. This worked out well for me because I came to the conclusion my truggy was geared much too tall, it works much better with the lower gearing. Nick has a good point about the motor moving around while tighting the mount screws. I put flat & lockwashers in there to stop the problem. FYI, I'm down to a 16 Tamiya running Volcano wheels, just a stock motor, 5000mah battery, do not forget the brush conditioner! It's a fun set up and is quite fast! Monster Truggy! Dusty

Well, I have had mixed experiences. See my thread "Red Cat Support NOT good!" I think the problem is when you just write to the support.com address they just assume your a bozo who busted your truck BUT when you address a problem here to the correct people for all to see the responce is much different. Contact Nick with an accurate account of your problem and he will do his best... Dusty
