RE: EVERYTHING YOU WANT TO KNOW ABOUT ELECTRIC FLIGHT
Ed, I have a GWS nano 6 channel receiver that has a JR (positive?) shift that I would like to use with a FUTABA Tx ( that requires a negative shift). The TX is a 4 channel Skysport. Can I achieve a "shift change" with this receiver or should I look to trade my current receiver for one with a negative shift ?

RE: Fieseler Storch ARF Search
Harry, my Kyosho has a 41" wing span. The slats are actuated as the flaps are deployed. I have plans for a larger Storch that has fixed slats . I presume the "real " aircraft had a movable Leading edge slat. Paul

The Sussex folks have advised that their Storch DOES NOT have operational (movable) slats. Paul

RE: Fieseler Storch ARF Search
Harry, I purchased the Kyosho version of the Storch from a USAF fellow in Japan that was being relocated to Okinowa. It arrived damaged and I recently repaired it . I believe it is identical to the LK model and suspect it is coming from the same factory. I am a novice pilot and have not flown mine yet. My primary concern is that it appears quite fragile. I sent an e-mail to Sussex asking about the leading edge slats and will advise you when i receive a reply.

RE: Fieseler Storch ARF Search
Thanks for the input. Is this an ARF or a kit and, do you have a web site for the Sussex Model Centre ? My wife will be traveling in England in June and perhaps can be persuaded to bring one back for me.

RE: Simulators?
I took several hours of flight instructions from a pro at a considerable cost. Although my intent was to convert an old Goldberg Falcon 56 to electric, I let the instructor talk me into using his Nitro powered trainer and gear. I finally completed a takeoff and landing but by then had done the electric conversion and installed a Spektrum DX 7 in my old Falcon. Learning with this plane was aided by my prior experience but I am sure I would have proceeded much faster had I started Electric. Because of various events , I have not flown for 6 months and although I had a few flights with 3 different aircraft, I am going to purchase a Real Flight G4 before I attempt to "qualify" at a local club field. Although all 3 of the planes I flew are "tail draggers" I had no trouble with takeoff and landing. However, I think a nose gear equipped trainer in the 56 to 72 inch size range would be best if you have to purchase a plane anyhow. Takeff/landing is a challenge on a grass field unless you have a pretty large plane with big wheels. I have had several recomendations for the Hobby Lobby Telemaster Electro ARF. I recomend brushless motors and LiPo batteries.

RE: Looking for another kind of realism in a simulator
Having spent nearly $1000.00 for R/C flight training, much of which was time wasted on a gas model of the instructors, I finally soloed on 3 of my electrics but still lack the skills/confidence to head to a local club for the proficiency checkout. Accordingly, I am going to invest in a simulator but don't have a solid idea as to which of 2 to get. I am considering the Aerofly Pro Deluxe or the Real Flight G4. I intend to use my Spektrum DX 7 as the controller and a Dell Inspiron E-1405 with 1.5 GB of memory and 224 MB of video memory. Both Simulators are within $20.00 cost so it is not a matter of economics.

Conversion from 380 can motor to brushless
I have a T-Hawk trainer that comes with a 380 motor installed. I have a spare set of LiPo batteries and would like to replace the 380 with a somewhat more powerful brushless. I need to have in "inner" that will mount as per the 380 ( screws at the front--motor recessed into the polyethylene fuselage) . Can anyone point me to a suitable replacement?

RE: Tiger Moth 370 by Lx Model www.giantscaleplanes.com
I talked with greatplanes.com sales rep today and learned they had discintued sales of the LX Models for two reasons. First, in order to get a reasonable shipping cost they needed to bring in an entire container load of planes at $5000.00 per container. Their sales volume was too low to warrant holding that much inventory. Secondly, they are now focusing on R/C helicopters instead of airplanes. He did say they had no problems with the aircraft and that the quality was quite good. I have an associate who imported container loads of goods from China and believe he had an arrangement to receive 1/4 containers. Do you think there would be enough demand to support sales of 250 or so planes in a reasonable period?

RE: Tiger Moth 370 by Lx Model www.giantscaleplanes.com
Do you know the location of LX Models? I have a friend (Chinese) in Shanghai that I have sent an enquiry to. I advised the firm is owned/founded by a Korean. If I had more precise info, perhaps I could get a better fix on the situation.

I am very interested in the LX Model line. How can I get one directly from the manufacturer. When I log on to their site I only get the Korean symbols.

Conversion of Goldberg Falcon 56
I have an old Falcon 56 that I built 30 years ago and never flew. After several moves there is some repairable damage--primarily a missing rudder. Does anyone have a rudder profile source ? Also, I woul like to convert this to Electric power. Any suggestions for a motor choice? I will be getting back into modeling after a 30 year absence.

savage 25, advice
i know this is an old topic, but i fly helis, and have had a nitro stadium truck way back when. i thought it was fast. have to get out of helis, want a savage 25 to ease my r/c withdrwals! i am interested in somthing that i wont have to buy mods and upgrades just to be happy with it. i like the speed of the stadium trucks, but would like more bashing ability. but i also would like it to be fast if i am just buzzing around the parking lot, or in the grass or smooth dirt. is the savage sound like what i am looking for? greg [;)]
