That's wise advice. If this is more than five years old or so, take an evening to replace ALL the airline, or you will most likely have endless small leaks, especially under the challenging enviroment of a screaming glow engine. Been there, done that, with older byron planes i have picked up. Just replace all the airline and be done with it, it's a lot easier than replacing ripped out gear mounts or the bottom of the plane when one, two, or three gears fail to go down.
ORIGINAL: mylamo Those 100cc earth shakers quieter than my .03 to .15s ? Less irritating ? No way no how.
Agreed. No way no how. Chainsaw motors going overhead are VERY noisy. VERY. That being said, 1/2a engines(norvels with mufflers being excepted) are extremely noisy and particularly annoying, too. I don't care what the DB meter says, guys can fly 40 sized planes with mufflers all day, nobody cares, but the moment you fire up a TeeDee 049, everybody is shouting "ouch!" Noise is not a factor for some, it's a big factor for others. Depends where you fly. But I don't kid myself into thinking a screaming 01 is the same joy to my ears to everyone else! Nor do I think comparisons to other types of engines is very useful. The big gassers may be a real noise problem...but so are the 1/2a engines.

Chances are you can fix the leak at the nipple with CA or JB weld, no big deal. And the nipple SHOULD unscrew. Good luck with it. It's not magic or rocket science, it's just a little leaking air, you can handle fixing it.

Black RhomAirs would be normal for the Byron. Springairs were often installed, but I'm pretty sure Rhom Airs were the factory fitment. And I have a scrap box full of that stuff, show me a pic and maybe I have something to fit, either Rhom OR Spring air, and you can have it.

I had considered getting a nice set of water transfer decals with all the nomenclature done, but it's really a sport-scale plane, I did not want to take the time and expense on this one. I only got a little park flying in this weekend...family stuff on Saturday, too bad, but I put a few flights on my Flying Styro Tony while up at the hangar on Sunday. I did arrange for a ride in a full scale L-39 on this coming Thursday, weather permitting, which should be very cool. I have to pony up for part of the fuel, though.[:D] I don't know if this Goshawk would be a nice electric conversion, a little too heavy, maybe. What's the new project?

Well...you only need ONE full cycle, plus something left over for taxying out and braking after landing and taxying back, and, yeah, one tank feels like enough. We don't use bars here, only PSI, which are much more powerful!

RE: Jetlegend T-45 Hawk
That was the other solution that occoured to me. One should be plenty for a few gear cycles and still have enough for brakes. The other solution would be a shorter tank for brakes that will still fit under the radio tray.

One will indeed fit under the radio tray, on the right side. But your internal former layout may be different than mine, the plane was revised a bit recently....

RE: Jetlegend T-45 Hawk
The gear doors are nicely done. It's not that I mind the holes in the bottom of the fuse, it's that the gear legs look so naked and stalky without them when they are out. I may just put the doors on the legs for now, I know, like you, I don't want to deal with the complete door system until mine is flown a bit. The airbrakes, I don't think I will bother. But I may do a simple microservo on the tailhook slaved to the flaps. For the moment, mine is glued into place. Where did you put your second air bottle? I found out last night they won't both go under the radio tray without one tank protruding into the fuel tank, so I put the second tank above the intakes.
ORIGINAL: etibedossa Hello, I am just a basic jet modeller, and I want to tell all of you that this thread is becoming very awful.I don't know who is right and who is not, I have a great admiration for Ali for his amazing flying skills and I have respect for Anton.I think,if you are engaged in a commercial fight, please make it via private mails. Best regards.
I'd leave Ali out of this, never heard him ever say anything bad about anyone, never heard of anybody ever having a problem with him about anything whatsoever, just heard someone trying to drag him through the mud just now...you judge for yourself about "right and wrong". These commercial entities have no problem coming here on the internet and using it to sell whenever they want, it's a double-edged sword. Nobody would even KNOW about xtremejets were it not for RCU, and obviously, people are very much interested in the whole issue, people want to buy stuff, know what the stuff is like, whatever. I guess if you don't like the thread, you can tune out as you please. Someone pointed something out, though...nobody seems to care until it affects THEM, and if YOU wired off money to some company and then nothing showed up, or the item was garbage, YOU would be singing a very different tune. Especially if afterwards, people said "oh, EVERYBODY knew that company was in trouble", or "that landing gear is junk", or whatever.

Is there any protocol for threats like this? Should I be scaret?? Any advice will be helpful. Happy to forward you the email to the monitor privately if necessary. FT
I get like ten of those a day! You get used to it! These guys play dirty, no? What a shame. Just post it, let the email speak for itself. Eric, well, he's got some stuff he's got to deal with, I wish him well, but I know he had a major part in setting Anton up in the first place, so Anton versus Eric...advantage...ERIC, by a long shot. RE: Dave Brown's Dumb Things article
I keep hearing about "pulling cards". I, personally, don't know of any circumstances where that has actually happened. Does not mean it has not, I have just never heard of it. The problem is probably best handled at club level. We all, myself included, are very reluctant to enforce rules and safety at club level. I don't feel that comfortable with AMA presiding as judge and jury over me, it opens up a very big can of worms. I know AMA is uncomfortable with it, too. There is another problem, too, which is that AMA is not the law and has no jurisdiction over, say, the guy who blew up the trainer, who is not an AMA member. Like it or not, it's still a free country, people can do what they want, they just cannot do it under AMA insurance. That is a problem that I cannot see a solution for, except that we do need to make sure we do our level best to actually police our own active membership.

Thicker than Zap wing sheeting glue! Which works great, by the way... It's the elephant in the room nobody wants to talk about. I can't blame any manufacturer or dealer for not wanting to talk about it...from a pure business standpoint, it just does not pay for someone involved in selling or making these to talk too loudly about business disputes. Just be aware that the buying public generally gets not the true gen but the PR schpiel spewed out by whoever is popular at the moment. In the end, I think the bottom line is the days of dealers here in the USA, at least, are pretty much over. There is room for more of a "rep" system. And there is PLENTY of room for those companies who are actually willing to go to China and CREATE NEW PRODUCTS to make PLENTY of money. Got something new and different? You can pretty much command your price. Like most other products, you have six months or a year to capitolize on something new, then you had better have the NEXT product ready.
