RE: List of Chinese Engines
ORIGINAL: Super08 The 176 looks and sounds really good. Without having one to examine, measure, and personally run there is not too much I can say about them. The asking price is much higher than any other Asian engine of similar size, but if the quality is there then it is worth it. Like I said though without having one I can only assume. We'll have to wait and see if any get sent out for testing or if someone buys one.
I am tempted...but for less I can get a DLE and for some more a DA. So I am sure I will pass.

I would start at the battery. charge it and see how many mah it takes to charge. A battery can rise in voltage an d output after a rest.

RE: JC23EVO experience event
ORIGINAL: Tired Old Man 100% right, and where things fall apart with the eastern manufactuers. You'll note in the Navausa post where the concern appeared to be more with manufactuer profitability instead of product quality or customer satisfaction. Until the Chinese alter their mindset to place product quality over extracting maximum profitability using shyster manufacturing processes it won't matter where or how they set up a distribution network. Setting up their own shops in the U.S.A. or elsewhere would still require shipping 4 engines for every engine sold in order to maintain a reasonable level of spare parts to andle warranty work from failed engines. They would need to well capitalize their new dealers in order for them to survive the labor hours provided without pay for the performance of warranty work. So far the U.S. dealers have been giving their work away, and also generally giving the parts away, in order to keep customers coming back and build brand loyalty out of imaginary quality. Why they have done that is beyond my comprehension. I do not understand the willingness to cast away profitabilty to gain even less profitability. They award product loyalty to something that is taking money and time out of their pockets. I have a different word for that ''loyalty'' but use it since many would find it derogatory. Hard to make money on something that has anywhere from $65.00 to $150.00 profit when you have to later give away $175.00 in parts, labor, and shipping costs. Might be smart to learn how to use a calculator and learn how to define ''cost of sales''. As long as buyers and sellers are willing to take money out of their banks the Chinese will be willing to put it into theirs. For them something for nothing actually works.
AMEN!

Jetcat also make scientific and laboratory equipment. It is also very good with a price to match.

RE: JC30 special experience activity
We kicked em to the kerb when they couldn’t even deliver working samples. Recently it became evident that Kevin has been trying to make things right. I have asked myself why and the best reason I can come up with is that he has shelves full of parts and no orders to fill, so he may as well honor those pesky warranties. From my limited knowledge the crank issues are not his doing and he may not have felt responsible. If he is trying to redeem his credibility he may very well be late though, as DLE has established themselves as the best of the worst. That said, Kevin did just send me replacement parts for the two engines I have.

144hrs in a week and did that for 5 weeks straight. I worked in a factory as a maintenance officer during the day. They shutdown part of it and I worked during the night for the company that did the shutdown. I had enough naps and wasnt real tired on a daily basis, but was glad when it finished. Haad a nice fat bank account at the end too.

RE: 2.4 - Why Are They Failing?
ORIGINAL: on_your_six I had an interesting experience about a week ago... trimming a Radian Pro for a guy... flying well at about 100 feet elevation and between 1-200 feet out. Everything was just fine... I hit the flaps switch to lower them, and then the glider just nose dived into the ground... at the very last split sec, I think I was able to pull a bit of elevator so it was not a direct hit into the ground. Testing prior to flying and post flying did not indicate any problem with the flaps function in the radio. It never did a hard down elevator at any point in testing. Couple of things bothered me... the radio (Spektrum Dx6i) voltage was at 5.1 volts... (4ea AA NiMH rechargeable batteries in the transmitter), we had just moved an aileron from a Y harness to the flaps channel (AR6200). I did not rebind receiver after the servo change over. After talking with the owner post crash, he did not know about the failsafe aspect of binding after setup was complete. I do not think the receiver browned out as it was a freshly charged 3 cell lipo. I just do not understand how that aircraft nosedived like that with out any warning. Care to venture a guess?
Classic brownout. Flaps can pull a ton of amps and the poor little bec couldnt put out required amps.

Water down some PVA glue 50%. Works brushed or painted and let the mold finish determine how much you need.

RE: the rational of trimming
I fly IMAC and am at the point where I would like to have my plane trimmed well. My trimming procedure thus far is below, please critique. First, trim ele for straight vert. down with no power. Second, adjust thrust for straight up till the speed slows down. Third, adjust CG so it just falls out of 45deg inverted upline. I find this gives straight horizontal upright flight at the speed I like to fly. Side thrust, just put in the complimentary 3deg engine side thrust and use my left stick as needed. I have been trimming my planes like this for a long time and am use to the way they fly and more than anything am curious if I am missing anything.

RE: How are your A123 packs doing?
Do some charge/discharge cycles and measure capacity. I have some EP flight packs that are over 6+yrs old, have 450 cycles and have just taken up residence in my new fuel pump. I have a couple of other packs that have a cell with severely diminished capacity. All my receiver packs have less than 200 cycles and are perfect. I Have one pack that is a little uneven that I use on ignition and balance charge it often. They are rated for 1000+ cycles. I would be happy with 500cycles or 5yrs and replace for peace of mind.

RE: Smoothest running twin cylinder engine
Between DL-100, DLE-111 and DA-100, the DA is way smoother. I had the DL engines before the DA and was surprised when I ran the DA. All the same prop BTW.

Burn gas. I am not good at hovering, but I have seen ppl who are hover my plane and they did it with much less effort than it took me. I believe they reacted faster with small inputs. It was like the surfaces didnt move at all.
