RE: Question on protecting rudder servo from tailpipe???
Same question, but in regards to servo wires that run down the sides of the fuse? Is aluminum heat tape the best option or is there a better alternative. I've heard of servo wires melting is some applications.

RE: spektrum vs JR
So is the 9503 not available in DMSS? I'm still not clear on how DMSS is better than DSMX, if they are both supposedly frequency hopping systems.

RE: spektrum vs JR
All of this is really troubling to me. I'm glad I didn't make the jump when most others did so I can take advantage of all the information thats out there with all these systems and make a better decision. With all that said, I really like the JR line of products, but I'm seriously considering Futaba once again for my next higher end system. I have loved JR's programability and indeed the way it feels in your hands, but the numerous changes between spectrum and now JR really have me wondering if they indeed tryed to get their system on the market first without really testing it to its fullest. Does JR even sell PCM receivers anymore?? I may be needing some.

RE: spektrum vs JR
Kruzer, that's a great point, my 72 mghz stuff all work flawlessly. IS the dsmx not frequency hopping like futaba's fasst? What exactly is the dsmm? Mike, I'm also going to wait it out a little longer. Until I feel confident, I'll stay with what I know works. Thanks for all the help guys.

RE: spektrum vs JR
I agree Kruzer, I need to upgrade but I honestly don't know what to do. I fly both JR and Futaba, but their all 72 with no issues at all. Most of my higher end radio's are JR and I wanted to get on the new system, and thought the DSMX was the same as Futaba's Fasst. Now with the DSMM?? I'm not sure what to do. I wish I had a better understanding of this newer technology. I'm still going to wait a while before I make a move. Until then I'll continue to fly the old school method.

RE: spektrum vs JR
I've been reading through this with great interest. Believe it or not I'm still flying 72 mghz and haven't had any issues at all in years. I've been waiting it out and want to make the 2.4 switch, but I'm totally confused. I thought the dsmx was the frequency hopping technology after the dsm2 appeared to have issues. Now I'm hearing about this dmss?? I may stay with 72 for a while longer, the air is much cleaner these days. Can someone tell me the difference between dsmx and dmss?? Thanks,

RE: First in Flight pics
Larry, Robert and Mike and all the guys behind the scenes, Once again you guys have pulled off one of the most pilot friendly jet events anywhere in the country!! Thank you all for putting this event together. I'm sure most everyone knows or at least has an idea of what it takes to put on an event like this and you guys deserve a huge pat on the back an incredible thank you!!! It was a lot of fun and I had a lot of fun getting my annual jet flight/flights ( yes, I actually had several ) once again at this great event. Thanks also goes out to the City of Wilson and the Wilson Industrial Airport for their amazing support! Certainly would not want to forget Gene for the many, many pictures he took, so that everyone across the country could share in this event!! I only wish he would have taken a picture of my AMA card all by itself on the frequency board!!! (Yep, still flying 72 mghz with a Ram 750 air start) I need help guys!! Thanks again guys for a wonderful event, Looking forward to next year! Mike

RE: Tamjets F16 Completed
Falcon, You're right, Thanks for correcting me. I've always though it was a structural part of the airplane. Now I know better, however it is indeed a structural part for Tam's F-16 for the given reasons. So please don't omit it!

RE: Tamjets F16 Completed
It is very necessary! It does just as you mentioned, it strengthens the intake area from all the weight and abuse from the nose gear/landings. The real F-16 has it too for the same reasons.

Now, now Steve, That award needs to go to the pilot who gets his one and only flight of the year at First in Flight! Larry and Robert, I will be there for my annual jet flight...hmm, make that my annual any flight!!! At least I save it for a fantastic yearly event like FIF! You guys do an incredible job with this event. Thanks for all your hard work!!!! Looking forward to blowing the dust off the 15 year old Avonds F-15!!

Avonds F-16
Can someone tell me what brand and or part number air cylinder fits the nose gear door on an Avonds F-16? I've tried the BVM #5751 and 5752 and neither one is the right one. It actually doesn't look like a BVM cylinder unless its an older style. The end has a swivel brass ball that connects to the door. I'll try to post a pic of the bad one.

RE: Robart 4-way valve
Thanks Hooker, I think its mostly in the valve. I am installing the system an have not yet mounted the valve. I have been testing everything to make sure there are no issues before I mount the valve. I have been manually activating the valve by hand and when I do I feel air escaping. This is a new valve, would you think it would need lubricating or does being new even matter?

Robart 4-way valve
I'm installing my first 4-way valve and was wondering if its normal to leak air when actuated? Al the lines are very well connected. I have used spring air for years and know there is a little release when actuated, but this valve seems to leak more than what I would expect. Could someone share any experience with this issue?

RE: Dry Transfers
Thanks guys, I have tried the clear packaging tape and that has worked some, but mostly it just comes off in little pieces and it appears that its done all its going to do. I bought the plane second hand, but it doesn't appear that its been cleared. However, that may be why its not coming off any easier than it is. May have to start sanding. Thanks for the replies.

Dreamworks Customer Service
I know this is not new to anyone, but I just have to express my thoughts on Dreamworks customer service. It is so good its almost comical. You place your order (you get a order confirmation), You then get a order update (packaging), you then get an order shipped with tracking number and its out the door, all within a few hours! I know they are not the only company to do this, but I haven't found many that follow through as well as they do. Todd (and your staff), thank you so much for the excellent customer service you provide!! Mike

RE: Retract and door sequencing?
Any idea what page that diagram is on in fenderbeans thread? I looked through most of it and didn't see it. I know this is how its done on Tams F-16 also, just couldn't figure out the way it worked. I can see how the smaller cylinders would open more quickly.

What is the Tornado XL? I assume it would be similar to a King Cat?? That would be a huge seller IMO, as long as its built to withstand the larger engines and appropriately priced!

RE: Retract and door sequencing?
KC, I'm still not exactly clear on how the valve opens the doors. If its set to close the doors upon the strut striking the trigger I don't understand how the down air will actuate the doors when the strut still has the valve closed. Wouldn't the down action of the strut have to open the valve before the air would open the doors?? Maybe its explained clearly in the instructions of the valve, but I don't have one yet as I haven't decided what to use. I have an RCBEE 200 sequencer that as of yet I haven't been able to figure out!! Seem's as though I may not need anything more that this trigger valve for my F-16. I sure would like an illustration if anyone has one.

RE: Retract and door sequencing?
I've been reading this with interest. I have an f-16 that I'm having the same question with. I understand how the valve is triggered by a strut striking the valve. But explain how the doors open when you select gear down. Does the gear push the doors open??

RE: F-15 Nose Strut
Thanks for everyone's help! I'll call Todd today. Yellow, that won't work as I need it to have a 1/2 diameter to fit the retract. Marty, I have to agree with you on Robart. I gave up on them a while back as I could never get anything from them because it seemed everything I always needed was never in stock??? hopefully Todd will have what I need. Thanks again!
