RE: Silicon Couplers...sickening`
If you are running a high octane gas you will develop more heat in the exhaust than you will with a lower grade gasoline but that is still excessive temperature for a silicone coupler. Alcohol based fuel burns at a lower temperature than gasoline , that is the reason silicone couplers are better suited to glow powered boats but when you dump the nitro can in the tank the temp comes up on them too.. BTW There are several types of Silicone , I like the Blue Aerotrend myself.

You have Redline there in St Louis area that has mostly GAS products but may have some of the things you need.

RE: Servo Extension Cables with Filters
In the past we just twisted the extension wire if there was a problem , lots of fancy stuff out there now if you need it but I'd try the twist first.

5998tg servo boat use
I'm considering one of these servos for the rudder on a gas race boat. Is it waterproof enough to run it out in the open or do I need to mount inside the radio box as I have been doing my 5645's. Sure would be nice to run it outside for mounting reasons in a new boat. Thanks Ed

RE: Somthing weired 2 convert 2 radio controaled
Ron It Worked In the early 70's I built a SHARK FIN using a spare sailboat hull similar to a EC 12 with electric power and styrofoam for the fin , came out about 4 -5 ft length .Looked great at a distance . Scared HE** out of neighbors kids and some fishermen. We won't even talk about the Game Warden------- I'll see if I have a old pic of it that I can scan.

RE: Is Outboard Oil not the ticket?
Amzoil makes several types of outboard oils ----- one is for premix applications -------- one for oil injection applications--------- the injector type oil is NOT designed for premix applications.I would thimk that it doesn't have the additives so that it would mix well with gasoline and stay suspended in the mixture. Amzoil recommended their Saber Pro 100:1 oil for Zenoah boat motors --- I mix it at their recommended 100:1 ratio for CHAIN SAW and WEEDEATER applications. ---------I mix it at 8 OZ. per GALLON ( USA measurement) for my CC Racing Pro Mod Zen 260 . NO oil related problems, just more power and less smoke

RE: Cheap Geared motors
It really depends on what you need --for some projects I use cordless screwdrivers -- Current projrct is a sidewheel steamboat using 2 DeWalt cordless drill drives. These can be found at junk dealers and garage sales for a very good price and usally they need only batteries or brushes to make them functional. just remove the drive components from the cases some have motors and gearboxes are built together some have gearbox made into case. They are cheap enough to experiment with

RE: Velocity Stacks, do they really do anything?
Long Stack May help low end torque a little but not really on high end old&slow has a good suggestion for top end power at the rpm these motors are running but the stack will cut down on intake slobber inside the hull.

RE: OIL QUESTION
I usally break in motors using Lawn Boy ashless oil for the first gallon or so then go to Amsoil Saber Pro oil. The reason for this is that after teardown of a engine using only Amsoil there was no wear and the ring was not seated. I put it back together and ran 2 gallons of Gas mixed with Lawn Boy oil and then switched back to my standard Amsoil Saber Pro mix. The engine picked up about 1 K rpm and has had absolutely no measurable wear detectable after 1 1/2 years. Good Luck No Warranty supplied with this info. Just works for me

RE: Vintage Octura White Heat series ??
I don't remember the exact year but i built one with O&R engine Had a kraft reed radio in it with bonner servos. Never got the radio interference out of the radio so took all the radio gear out and ran it on a tether was real neat seems like I traded it for a nice shotgun. Thanks for the memories. Ed

RE: Corby Starlet
Hi Y'all Just thought I'd let Y'all know that at least ONE of these Starlets made it's way into Northeast Texas. Just opened the box Saturday , I'm really impressed with this arf. I will power it with a Saito 72. In one of the earlier post someone mentioned flying with floats ,should be fun as i live on Lake-O-The-Pines. Appears that there is enought Vert. stab. area to keep it from getting goofy in Yaw. Short coupled so that Pitch axis should be fairly sensitive. Looks like a good replacement for my Clipped Wing Cub with the shortened fuse.. I have a couple of projects ahead of this one but there is a good chance this one will break ahead into front of the line.
