RE: Pulsejet Harry will fly again!
Rocketman... Don't you and Harry design space shuttle parts.... ect.. and THIS is what you build in your spare time.. ? Scary... I am not going into space, like ever !!!! I am just a dumb weather man and I have UAVs flying missions while I sit in my truck with the AC on.. Eddie Weeks www.jetlens.com

RE: Airliners
Ok... Send me your personal email and we can get things going. I will need %20 down to order materials. Today I will come up with final size. Now remember .... you will not win top gun with this plane.... These planes will look just like the DC-10s I built except A300s The fuse will be white and the wings will be primer gray.... its up to you for color. If you both agree to get a plane... its 4500 each... This will be the last post on this forum about this sale.... In the attached pic you can see this is not a molded plane. It will not be perfect.. Just so you know. weeks1@bellsouth.net Eddie Weeks

RE: Airliners
Before I quote it... What size engines do you have ? The biggest fuse diameter I can do is 17 inches.. witch would make your plane a bit longer than my DC-10s... not much... btw... anything less than 10 foot I don't want to mess with. Eddie

RE: Airliners
ORIGINAL: Willfrance But Eddie, what are you looking for, with an airliner having 1:1 thrust : acrobatics ? Will
Yes.... why not... if I am going through all the trouble of designing and building this thing I want it to be the most capable and highest performance possible. Also single engine flight is no problem. Just not into the flying around in a circle thing.... Redelman...> RECOGNIZE DOG

RE: Airliners
I don't like one engine in the tail because they you have to add %80 of the weight of the engine to the nose. Its far better to have the heavy things like engines and fuel on the wing near the CG then everything else is just along for the ride.. On the Dc-10 the 12 fuse weighed ~13 lbs... with the elevators.... Very light.... The center section with gear, engines, fuel tanks and batteries was 30 lbs and they were mounted to the strongest part of the plane... This type of design makes getting the thrust to weight of 1:1 possible P80s are fine for a 12 foot model... The second DC-10 I built had Ram1000s for a while then later I put P80s or P120s.... I don't remember. But if the plane was designed for P80s I would use less glass here and there.... it would work well... My AMTs were 5lbs each.... Today, you can get stronger motors that are 2-3 lbs and burn far less fuel, so a new Large airliner could really out perform the first DC-10.... which to this day... I have not seen a video of any large plane fly with such power and do 8 point rolls. Pics of second DC-10 Eddie

RE: Airliners
I used 2 x 28 lbs AMT.... 2 x P80 would make a somewhat smaller plane..... Far lighter though... 40-50 lbs

RE: Airliners
That is for a 12 foot DC-10... ready to fly... unpainted... You supply servoes, engines.. ect Any new design like Airbus 330-200... would require more design work depending on engine size. What up David.... do you still fly jets... Eddie

No.. but I can make one for ~4-5k... airframe only With what new light weight engines and new materials it would be a lot better.

RE: Airliners
The first plane was built in 1999 with 2 x AMT Pegasus engines. It flew so well I never even bent the gear in the ~3 years I had it.. Then I sold it to Scott Foster. The Other DC-10 was built around 2000 and I don't know what happen to it. Eddie weeks1@bellsouth.net
ORIGINAL: Massea Eddie what plans are you using to build this plane, and what size ,and wieght will it be after it's all said and done.
I had good 3 view drawings and 1:72 scale plastic model... that is all... Dry weight was 50-55 lbs 128 oz of fuel for each engine.. ~62 lbs on takeoff. Wing was not scale thickness as I only made it 3" thick.. Eddie

No.. I sold both airplanes... The FedEx plane crashed years ago and I found a brand new video of the second plane on Youtube.. The FexEx plane was the only Very large scale model that I have seen to have thrust to weight close to 1:1 but it did that by not having many detailes and being stand off scale.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vuV7zLDJqIk&NR=1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYEg6_qESTg&feature=related Eddie Weeks
