RE: HK-450GT CCPM Alloy T-Rex compatible - Part III
Went to the field over the weekend with a bit of gloomy weather to try my rebuilt 550 out. Tail was wagging but the experts at the club dialed in the settings and it then behaved as it should. Kept it very high and I only dropped below 20 meters when I came in to land. So much easier to fly than a CP or the mCPX not to mention seeing it more clearly. Hope to get some more time in on Saturday and with winter closing in hope the winds are mild and flyable. Have to do my "solo" test at the club which will legally allow me to fly in "suitable" open spaces. Edmund

Report back!!!!! YES IT WAS LOTS OF FUN. Changed my "normal" sequence to now include an inverted 15degree nose up 1800 ft long flyby and then with afterburner selected push it up vertically to 2500 ft height, then into a backwards half loop, flipped it over to normal flight to scream down the runway again, pulled some nice G's doing that. O btw I did get some heli time in as well in one of the hangers that was emptied for the show. Simon glad oyu enjoyed your fun flip. Edmund

Hi guys, Mrs E doing well at home though on pain killers and I spend Monday and Tuesday with her. Due to real sh.tty winds here I managed some indoor flying with the mCPX and a BOL to pass time. I can really get hooked on the fact that I am not at work. Just need that tiny lotto to help financially as the income fror the farm is a bit short atm but slightly ahead on our expectations. Rob, good to see you logged in, I missed your input., now Spiros must make his appearance again. Edmund

Mnem, where did you get Kakked in the English vocabularly? Great version of an Afrikaans word (my language) and reading your sentence the meaning (end result) is exactly the same when we ad the "ked" to it. Implication being not good quality and it got busted No flying over the weekend as it was far too windy for my skillset. Did some gameviewing instead. Hi Jen, good to see you popped in. Edmund

What is wrong guys? I am not used to getting to my office in the morning with no overnight posts by those who wake up long before me and those that go to bed when I am asleep for hours already. Officially spring tomorrow but the weather has been brilliant the last week, slight breeze outside now and low 20's C temperature. Can not wait to fly over the weekend. Do miss Rob lately Enjoy your weekend guys. Edmund

Tx guys, she will be going in next week Tuesday morning. Due some excellent drugs usually prescriped for epilepsy patients we at least had some very good sleep the last 5 evenings. So I will be getting some flying time in over the weekend and I am looking forward to it. Time to get a Belt CP to go wild in the air and should I have a crash so be it. Will also check the mcpx setup to see what will happen if set that way as a LHS guy mated it with my DX6i. Edmund

Brian, been thinking about you and what that sotrm will do or not do in your area. Now if you have a month of not working on weekends then you have all those weekends to fix that problem you have. Hope to be going to the farm this weekend to get some open space flying in but that is subject to Mrs E being in hospital for a back operation or not. She damaged her spinal cord and has lost the feeling and mobility in one leg and arm. Can potetnially be fixed but will only know when she had the operation. Edmund

RE: HK-450GT CCPM Alloy T-Rex compatible - Part III
He left his BOL with me when he moved to Namibia and as I had space in the vehicle asked him if I should bring it along. Now at my place there is limited space and as it is he can outlfy me on precision flying with a BOL any day and I am pretty good at that. When he lifted off on a virtual windless day with more space then he ever had to fly in, it was a joy to watch. Straight line and 180 degree turnaround on the same line at almost FF. I was later watching his face rather than the BOL as that wide grin told me that I did the right thing to bring his toy to him. Left him with lots of spare blades and referred him to Spiros' way of taping the fuse. That crossborder flight was great to watch and he did it like a pro. Edmund.
ORIGINAL: rikybob
ORIGINAL: rikybob It's kinda funny, I crash mine ever other battery for a total of nearly a hundred crashes. I have never replaced a main gear, F/S etc. I finally DID manage to kill the actual frame! Conversely a certain stodgy friend of mine from an evil empire has prollly only crashed his 1/2 dozen times. I don't know how he does it!! Headin' out to the Flyin' Club tomorrow and look forward to gettin' shum schict time! I cut off those big red connectors from my new 3000 batteries and soldered on my favorite XT connectors! This gives me 7 batteries for the 500 size heli! As for the blather fest on Friday, the irony that the ''blathermeister'' himself will have to absent is not lost on me! I am attending a fundraiser for the neighbor across the street as having cancer is VERY expensive! So instead of hanging out with you lovely folk I will be at an art gallery that has a cash bar[:@] All for a good cause and will get to see the ladies dressed up! All the best and look forward to a blatherfest in the future! b
Vein attempt to coax bear out of cave, must try another tactic! b
Now I did bring some very good honey home from Namibia that may just get that bear out of the cave!!!! RE: HK-450GT CCPM Alloy T-Rex compatible - Part III
Some advice please. Is it normal for a mCPX to only lift off with the throttle lever at about 90% of travel? Mine would spool up and only when I get almost to the end can I achieve lift off. Do not always want to fly in idle up mode working from the mid position then.

RE: HK-450GT CCPM Alloy T-Rex compatible - Part III
Hi guys back in the modern world again. Did get some time to fly the mcpx and it was a joy doing so. Had to make some repairs to the canopy after a few hard landings but it is still flying great. Have a great picture (5.8Meg in size) of my son's BOL making a crossborder flight - suppose it can officially be considered an international air space violation- from the Namibia to the Angola side of the river. Did not land it as any perception problem may have caused it to topple over on the grass 150 meters away on the other side even if I had the bino's on it most of the time. We did a range test before we tried it and had a full lipo in it. We were about 25 meters higher in Namibia and on the way back power had to be increased constantly to get the lift. Likely the first BOL to fly in Angola but can obviously not confirm that. Edmund

Hi guys, just popping in to show my son how Rob landed the R22. Still resting and doing as little as possible and when I get tired doing that I do even less. Catch up next week on the reading. Must say great Internet speed here on the banks of the Okovango river. Saw a big croc on the other side last week basking in th sun the whole day. About 5 meters plus in size. Edmund

RE: HK-450GT CCPM Alloy T-Rex compatible - Part II
Hi all. I started to get my hobby time goods ready for the trip to Namibia. Got all the spares and lipo's for the mCPX out and packed. MCPX is ready and "resting" in it's wooden winebottle box for the trip and the DX6i has fresh batteries and some spare ones too. My son's BOL is eventually going "home" and I have added some spare blades, gears and a main shaft should he need it as getting spares to him equates to finding spares for a heli in the Australian outback. Will teach him how to do the linkages with long nose pliers as I am not parting with my linkage tool. All his lipos are still good so he can eventually get some stick time at home. I am so stuffed after a very hectic 7 months at work that my mind is already swithing off work and we just can not wait to get going. Next week this time I wil be having breakfast next to the river and enjoy some long overdue grandpa time with my grandson and his OWN heli. Edmund

Ken, for that I will definately trade any time. Both are aircraft I would love to get my backside in and put it through it's paces. May just not be up to it on the SU doing a Cobra, but will do my damnest trying it, as for the Corsair I will find a big dam to do a low level crossing over it at full speed. Edmund

Eat your hearts out guys, 9 days from now and at the same time as now, I will be sitting on the banks of the Okovango River having a sundowner way before sunset and overlooking the wilderness of Angola on the other side. Just maybe there could be a hippo or croc looking at me from there. Edmund

Simon, no problem as I will be taking a BOL with me on holiday to Namibia in two week's time, the mCPX will be loaded too. Still no flying for me as we had a busy weekend on the farm with 14 new calves that arrived and jackals to keep away from it plus me having to play vet getting stuck calves out, but all went well with that too Also now have two leopard roaming around as we picked different sized tracks. My gandson last night again indicated that grandpa should now get there so we can fly helicopter. Edmund

To the BLUES supporters, sorry guys. Then again who am I to talk, my team likely out of the series next year having ended at the bottom of the log. No flying at all over the weekend as the wind was blowing like mad and is still at it this morning along with 0 celcius temperature. So hopefully two weekends from now as it is off to the farm next weekend. Edmund

Yet another person on he thread, welcome Ray. About time I get a light into my DX6i as well. The old eys are battling with the current situation. With no honeysdoos -yet- for Saturday I do intend to get some stick time on the BIG ONE, but the weather forecast indicate that my plans may just get washed and blown away. Some good reading posted in the last 10 days, so keep up the flying/re-building and avoid crashes at all costs. Edmund

USA guys, happy 4th of July. Will always think of Will Smith in the namesake movie. Blues supporters, I live smack bang in the middel of Bulls country but support the bottom of the list team. At least they won our Currie Cup last year. Anyhow enjoy your flying as I have a long day ahead in the office with not much to do but surfing the net and to read your posts. Can happily spend it at home doing other things, like flying. Edmund
