RE: 150 meter rule.
In the NATS in Norway we put the poles in the 150 meter line and most of the 30 pilots did not have any problems to follow that line. Its about get used to the distance and make the size of the maneuvers in accordance to the limitation of the sector. But it could also be that the European style of flying (slower and smaller maneuvers) gives an advantage in accordance to the 150 meters rule. Since Im a beginner in the Nordic classes (similar to Advance) i have no experience from flying far more out with big maneuvers.

RE: post some pictures of your pattern plane!!
A classic one - Synergy, brought to Norway from Ireland some years ago. 3 previous owners but I'm the first one who really uses it for competition. Changed from YS 140 Dingo to OS 140 RX and use 18x10 APC prop. Enough power for the intermediate flight schedule - Nordic N 13.

RE: Heli servos for pattern (stab)?
I have been using Align DS 520 on dual elevators and DS 610 on rudder and after 50 flights it seems to be reliable and precise servoes in a mid size pattern plane. So in my next project i consider to use Align all around.

RE: Mini - Pattern practice plane - Monolog at Nitroplanes
Monolog is made in 3 more sizes - 70, 110 and a full 2x2m plane. All are with electric, glow or gas options. I really consider a 110 or a full 2x2m for my self :)

RE: Budget servos for 2x2 plane
Align DS 620 MG is a cheap and good choice. Originally created as a tail servo for helicopters. As stated before 945/65 from Hitec is powerfull but far from beeing precis enough for pattern.

RE: Spot On 50 vs. Phoenix Models Sea Bee
I would choose See Bea. I had have them both and Sea Bea is much better build, better covering and easier to set up. Its true that Spot On much more looks like a modern pattern plane but its cheap wooden quality and the not the mention the covering - lots of sealing and ironing to get it looks good. And as you say - you want a good beginner plane for the sportsman class. If you want to continue flying pattern you will move up to a bigger plane because it flies better, handle windy conditons better and easier to see when the maneouvers getting bigger.

RE: Sebart Wind-S Pro 2-meter ARF
Hi Jon, why not sell the other Laser too and then you could afford it[8D]. With todays exchange rate it is in the same class as all the other expensive competitions planes.

RE: post some pictures of your pattern plane!!
Here is one picture of my Scorpion. Has made a lot of small improvement since the maiden flight in beginning of may. Mostly the improvement has been made to save weight. It flies great and hopefully it will last for a long time.

RE: New plane ready for maiden flight
Hi Jon, It looks great. Hope to have a closer look at it on the field or maybe at the Loeten Cup later this month. Im almost finnished with my first step to get the weight of Scorpion a bit down, almost saved 220gram just by small modifications.

RE: CMPro Scorpion 140
Now its 5100 gram, but i use a aluminium spinner from Protech and it weight about 94 gram which make it nose heavy and i have to put 80 gram in the tail to have a proper cg. Was looking at a 65mm spinner from DuBro and its weight is 46 gram, if i change it to Dubro i will save 48 gram in nose and could take away 80 gram in the tail and only there save 148 gram. So with some thoughts about equipment it would be able to get it about 4850 gram i guess. But it flyes with almost unlimited power vertikal with todays weight. Im using OS 140 RX and Hatori (OS pipe) and 18x10 APC prop. I had set the pipe lenght 15 mm longer than the recomendet for max rpm. This gives more torque and definitely more silent engine.

RE: CMPro Scorpion 140
Then the maiden flight is done[:D], just a minor trim on ailron and elevator was needed to fly it straight. It was great to have a plane with enought power and authority in rather windy conditions. Stall turns, rolls, loops, inverted and much more was done with ease. But as for almost any China models the veneer used for fastning landing gear is rather "shit". On the second landing it get broken and now the epoxy is herding and will be cured in an hour. In my opinion the model is not able to handle some of the maneouvers in the P 09 programme but for both Sport 07 and Nordic 09 it will do great. Looking forward to the season with a great plane and if i dont succeed with the competitions, its not the plane but the pilot[8D]

CMPro Scorpion 140
Finaly my Scorpion is ready for maiden flight tomorrow. Its powered by OS 140 and mostly Futaba digital servoes. To be a "China" ARF is rather expensive - its about USD 800 using todays exchange rate. The box contains only the aeroplane, covling, belly pan and landing gear in carbon. All other hardware has to be purchased. I enclose some pic just to show how it looks like. The pics are from the assambling process and taken by cell phone.

RE: Venus II with Webra .91
I flow the Venus II with OS 91 FX with 14x8 APC prop. It was just enough power to do the maneuvers in the norwegian sport 07 programme but i feel it would have been better with a bigger og more powerfull engine. I run on 15% nitro. I had both Webra 40 and 50 and they are great engine running exelent on 5% nitro.

RE: Graupner servoes - any experience in pattern plane?
I get an offer i could not ressist - so it will be Futaba in rudder, throttle and elevator. Ordered Tahamizo servoes for ailrons from Singapore Hobby. Nice price and with specifications that indicate enough speed and power for a 140 size plane.

RE: Graupner servoes - any experience in pattern plane?
Not been able to fly since beginning of January, bad weather and when the conditions is ok, something else occur. Fortuneately i have my Acro 50 ready for flying - flying great and enough power to do the nordic programme. But i miss the Venus II.

RE: Graupner servoes - any experience in pattern plane?
Hi Jon, I was considering Hitec servoes. Had used them mostly on sport planes and they had never leaved me in trouble. But with very few references in the pattern world and the few that had experiences mostly has ben unsatisfied with them. But in the other hand - this plane will be used for the sport class this year even if i intend to fly the intermediate (nordic) programme outside the competitions this season - maybe the debut in nordic will be chivas cup in september. So therefore the top line servoes is not needed right now.

RE: Graupner servoes - any experience in pattern plane?
Thank you folks for your comments. As soon as i will return from hollidays in Thailand i will visit Thorbjoern and Kaare and get them. The competition season is very close so it is a bit hurry to finnish the model.

Graupner servoes - any experience in pattern plane?
I am putting together an Onyx 140 from Protech and consider to use Graupner servoes all around. I have thinking about DS 8081 for ailrons, DS 8231 for elevator and DS 8311 for rudder. Could this be a good choise - using a OS 140RX as an engine and 6V regulated lipos as rx batteries. I know there a lot of JR and Futaba fans out there but why not use another brand?

RE: Kyosho Osmose 70, Sort of build thread (slow..)
Nice pics Audun. I had to bring with me my new Acro 50 from Kangke so i could made my maiden out in the countryside. Was almost out the door today with my electric Extra to make some flights at Furuset but my girfriend was knocking on my door so no flight today.

RE: Aeropet 50?
I have a Spot On 50 and the undercarriage would get off very easily. This is due to the ply wood used - it cracks with a hard landing. I had to rebuildt mine and after that it could almost take any landings. But it looks awesome and a pretty good flyer too.

RE: How Many Airplanes Do You Have In Your Hangar?
The Venus II is a great flier - and i see here in this forum that many pilots love it too. If i had the oportunity i would not hesitate to buy a new one. But i had limited space for airplanes and just now there is no place for more[&o]

RE: How Many Airplanes Do You Have In Your Hangar?
This is my hangar[:)] Sapac Extra 330 with brushless innrunner Facination 15 with OS 15LA Kangke Acrobatic 50 with SK 50 engine (webra throtle) Spot On 50 with Webra 50 These one are fly ready and used as often as possible. Protech Onox 140 - under construction, hopefully ready for next years competitions (sportsman class) Black Horse P36 Hawk with Enya 91 4-stroke, never flown And 5 others that needs different kind of repairs. Since i crashed my Venus II one month ago due to cell phone interference i had a 90 size pattern plane on my wish list.

RE: O.S. 120 in a Venus II
I would mount it sideways about 110 degree angel - then the muffler will be on the underside. I had my OS 91Fx mounted that way and have no trouble with starting or running the engine. And the best of all very little cut out on the cowling, just for the engine head, throttle and the muffler. I belive you will have a lot of mess on your left ving and left body side if you use the engine mounted upright.

RE: glow fuel
I think you are lucky who only paid between 20 and 30 bucks for a gallon. Street price in Norway is about 45 - 50 bucks for a gallon of 15% nitro. And the cousins of an electric drill could never compare with and glow engine with the nice smell and sound from a running engine.

RE: Venus 2 with an OS 91 FX Muffler question...
I powered my Venus II with OS 91 FX and it had sufficient power for sportsman class. Not unlimited power but enough to get trough most of the vertical manouvers. I use APC 14 x 8 and 15% nitro. My take off is about 30 feet and i could climb directly vertical if i like too but its not a very pattern like take off[8D]

RE: prop for OS 91FX
I use 14 x 8 and got 10.000 rpm on Jero 15/15 fuel. With 14 x 6 i tacked 10.500 before the engine was fully runned in.
