RE: CHURCHILL BRIDGELAYER
Hi, I spoke with my friend Flamme on the phone and we came to the conclusion that we do not have all the elements to well understand the cinematic of this system. First, the piston course does not seem long enough to extend the bridge from the stored position to the laid down position. This point taken into account, it seems obvious the deployment of the bridge is done in two steps : - the bridge arm, in stored position on the tank, is PULLED by the piston rod until the the vertical position (90° angle). Then the rotating pivot that allowed this movement is unblocked to let the bridge arm go to the laid down position (180° angle), the rotating pivot being now the wheels axle. For this last step, the wheel structure must be temporary attached to the front of the tank and this time, the piston PUSHES the bridge arm. What do you think of this theory based only on the study of the resin model seen above...?

Very nice project ! May I suggest you, if it were ever to be produced as a kit, to change the buddhist calendar for the gregorian calendar in the drawings (for export purpose) ? [:D]

RE: RX-18 with 6V battery ?
Thanks for your reply. The draw issue might not be one finally as I will only use the Rx18 to control the motors (no turret, no sound nor smoke...). I should get a low speed with this voltage and 5:1 gearboxes but not an issue neither.

RX-18 with 6V battery ?
Hi, I wondered if a RX18 board would work with a 6V lead battery ? I do not have the possibility to test one for the moment, if anybody could check for me so I can place (or not) an order for the battery (currently on holidays...) Thanks in advance,

Looking for photos of T55 snorkel
Hi, For deep wading, T55s were fitted with snorkel (or schnorkel ;)). They could then cross up to 5 meters deep water obstacles. It seems quite difficult to find good infos about these devices, I tried Google and found only few materials. Does one of you have documentations about that ? It would help me a lot. Thanks !

RE: Exhausts on the Ferdinand/Elefant
Thanks for your reply but I am pretty sure the exhausts are not there (if I have well understood where you put yours). The smoke should not be blown in the front area but certainly at the back or on the sides (backward). What do you think ? I still may be wrong...[:(]

Exhausts on the Ferdinand/Elefant
Hello, It may be already answered here but I really do not know where is located the exhausts exit on the Ferdinand/Elefant. A drawing or photo would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,

RE: Elefant Zim Optional?
I strongly recommend the ATAK Zimmerit for the 1/16th Elefant. A real time saver.

RE: Elefant Zim Optional?
Yup. They were modified (to become Elefant) after this battle during which they showed many weakness such in close defense protection (against magnetic mines or infantry).

RE: Elefant Zim Optional?
The best source for Ferdinand/Elefant is 2 books by K.Münch, Combat History of the 653th Schwere Panzerjager Abteilung and Combat History of the 654th Schwere Panzerjager Abteilung. The first is very hard to find and the last one can be found on the internet. I do not remember having seen an Elefant without Zimm in these books, I'll check...

RE: Elefant Zim Optional?
ORIGINAL: karel47 Even the later ones wich were active in the ardennes area in dec '44
I do not think the Elefant were ever deployed in the Ardennes. In summer 1944, they were mainly on the italian front, after, the survivors were sent on the eastern front. Only 3 were supposely seen flighting in Berlin (I cannot confirm this info).

RE: Elefant Zim Optional?
ORIGINAL: Panther F Heck, I still can't decide on which one to build.
Before choosing one Elefant, decide what theater : East, Italy or Berlin, the last battle ? If you really chose to build an Elefant, forget the spider web camo, they were all sand based with green and brown airbrushed spots or only green spots and of course Zimm.

RE: Elefant Zim Optional?
What is an Elefant ? The answer is quite simple : it is a Ferdinand with big ears and a long trunk...arrhmmm...I meant, a Ferdinand with new things such as additionnal armor, new cupola, a MG and Zimm (talking about the main improvements). So, for me, all the Elefant, out of the factory, had Zimm applied.

RE: Elefant paint decisions
IMHO, the Aberdeen camo is a real shame and it would be a crime to reproduce it in 16th scale :) The 2 others are Ferdinand and not Elefant, so you would be good for scratching the difference between the two versions (plus buying the right tracks...) An accurate Elefant should be 2 or 3 colors camo + zimm (the Berlin Elefant would make a really nice model but only based on written description
