RE: Project T-Egg - Lunchboxer style..
I actually mean the c-shaped alum silver things that clamp around the rear trans housing - this is what the bottom of the rear shocks mount to. They wiggle left/right a tad. I think you might see the parts I mean in the 4th pic.

RE: Project T-Egg - Lunchboxer style..
For the record, here are a few initial pics of my Touareg during the build I did. I got the rear 4-link setup and bottom shock mounts from AsiaTees - if you get their link setup, they work in conjunction with the rear (bottom) shock mounts since the stock links ARE the bottom shock mounts. I found that the stock links had a bit too much flex in them (plus not a great pivot point), and thought I'd get a little more movement out of a setup like this, and I think that's accurate after installing. If not, at least it looks cool. :) At the time, they only had "orange" links, and colors like pink or blue, which wouldn't match my paint scheme. So I went with orange, and it turned out to be sort of a copper color, which was cool. I also went with orange clamping hexes, but silver rear shock mounts (for fear of overdoing the orange), and GPM's silver alum steering. Hopefully it matches. [&:] The body will be black with a lower copper stripe as an accent to match. I also went with wheels/tires from RcWorld since I liked the look of them. The stock tires are the same as on the F-150 I have, which offer little grip. I think these look cool, but hopefully decent enough for a little speed as I went for a 25T motor. A few notes: 1) The rear mounts can wiggle left/right a touch, which I found odd. I am sure I installed them right (and can't see any other way), so I guess that's what you get for inexpensive upgrades. (Asiatees has a lot of CC01 upgrades for cheap, but no instructions). I'll see if there are any issues with this in driving it - perhaps not, since it's not setup to be a blazing fast machine. 2) There is a LOT of play when you twist the alum steering rod inside the receiving piece - I've read that some see this, some don't, so it could be luck of the draw. Bottom line is, my stock steering is much tighter in that respect, so I may have to ditch the GPM one. It's bad enough that wheels wont' return to center after steering full lock left/right - the extra play in the twist leaves them left/right quite a bit.

RE: The Lounge: Version 4.0
It seems to be a common CC01 thing. I think the main complaint is that over time, the stock plastic setup gets bad. Mine is fine for now since it's brand new - but I got the GPM racing one so I could install now and not worry about it - but mine is not well done, so I might have to run stock for a while.

RE: The Lounge: Version 4.0
No, cranking it down won't help, unfortunately. It purely has to do with how the tube fits in the slot - cranking down the screw will only force the end of the tube snug against the receiving piece, but won't fix the fact that the slots don't align snugly enough. I guess I could JB weld it - but then once it's on, it's ON! [&:]

RE: The Lounge: Version 4.0
ORIGINAL: Lunchboxer Can you use ball connectors and then use a custom length turnbuckle to replace that?!
Not sure if I follow, or am explaining myself right. The part with slop: there's a long rod that goes through the chassis, right? This then gets inserted into a "receiving end" of sorts where your tube sits inside another so when the servo/top tube rotate, the bottom one (under the chassis) moves - and that drives the connecting rod in the middle, etc. Stock is like this, so is the GPM one. Brand new, the stock pieces fit snugly and move together. As received by me, the alum GPM ones fit loosely and are not snug at all. Thus - slop!

I'm considering that - I guess if it wasn't tough to to, I'll try it. What setup did you end up with for good, after that? I get some pics in the CC01 thread - sometime. :)
ORIGINAL: Lunchboxer You can always mod the stock setup to have ballbearings, Eman... that's what I did initially...
ORIGINAL: redfisher1974 All I really need for my cc01 now is a cheap esc that has a drag or crawler brake so i dont roll down hills..
I use the Losi MSC12L for a lot of my brushed vehicles - it has a LVC (so it handles LiPo), takes down to lower turn brushed motors, has a crawler mode, and can be had for $35 or less (got my last for $30 shipped). I use that in my CR-01. ...you like the GPM steering though? I have a ton of slop where the longer steering rods goes into the other end under the chassis - not even installed, I can wiggle it back and forth a lot by hand. It's bad. Maybe some of their batches have good tolerances, and some are crap? Mine is crap.
ORIGINAL: cumquat the 2wd durangos are the work of HOBBYCO, so they can at least attempt to compete with horizon/losi. their 4wd's on the other hand were what put them on the racing radar. the dex410 was the first modern race buggy (that i know of) to include gear diffs. that, combined with being shaft drive, made it the best option for a weekend racer-weekday basher. the desc410 had a few nifty features such as mod 1 gears (+/- 32p) and 15mm hex driven wheels (supposedly stronger, less likely to strip with the giant 4-pole motors frequently used) for better durability on the track.
I had first heard of them for their 4WD buggy too in a glowing review of them, and then I heard more elsewhere. I then saw the 2WD being offered later on, although I wasn't sure of the chronology. Interesting stuff.

RE: Ofna Jammin CRT.5 1/12 Truggy Build Thread and E-Conversion
So I'm leaning towards an EzRun ESC and Tacon motor for this - don't want to spend too much, curious about the less expensive BL setups here. I've read that the Leopard motors are a bit weak (overheat on a platform like this), hence the Tacon. In looking, I see a dizzying array of Tacon motors: http://www.hobbypartz.com/ta11ofmo.html I'm really looking for around 4000 kV, but beyond that I'm not sure of the list above. Thoughts?

RE: Need all buggies!
No no, not at all. I guess I'm just saying that 4s on a 1/8 is fast. It's respectable. It's very nice. It's a blast. If you end up with a 1/8 setup that "only" supports 4s, I wouldn't see that as a negative at this point. In the future if you want to go 6s, spend all that $$ on electronics and repairs then. Be happy with a 4s now, and the lower price point it may bring.
