RE: Help, Prop size 3-blade OS200FS Warbird
Rate, How did it go with the prop size? Can you share the test result?

I found that Xoar also have som 3-blades, both 17x8 and 18x8. Not scale, but very good looking. Ad the Hamilton Standard Prop Decal and you are close... http://magnumrc.com/xoar-m-5.html magnumrc.com/hamilton-standard-prop-decal-set-p-242.html

RE: Help, Prop size 3-blade OS200FS Warbird
I have tested some props on my OS-200S. The engine was not fully broken in at the time, but it will give a hint 3-blade (MA) 16X8; 9000 rpm; 7,4 kg pull 3-blade (MA) 16X10; 8200 rpm; 8,2 kg pull 2-blade (xoar) 18X6; 8100 rpm; 8,6 kg pull 2-blade (xoar) 18X8: 7300 rpm; 8,3 kg pull I have the 3-blade MA 16x10 on my ESM Spitfire, but I will try the Fiala 17x8. Maybe that the 18x8 3-blade will work, but probably not. Since I see you come from Sweden, you can find Fiala props at www.aircpro.com. Another thing to remember with the OS-200S is that it do not like RPM:s above 8400, it is the exhaust-valve-spring that is to weak. You will know that if the engine runs great on the ground, but "bludders" in the air, when you pass the magic rpm:s. In that case you have to get an intake-valve-spring (it is harder) and put it on the exhaust. There where Per Olof Linder in Sweden who discovered the error and the fix. I have tried it on mine and it works great.

RE: ESM Spitfire 72.5
My ESM had a crosshair drawn on the firewall. Horizontal line in center, vertical line 6 mm sideways. I am using an OS-200 FS and I turned it 14 degrees in order to center the cut-out in the cowl, still using the factory painted crosshair as the center for the propeller shaft. The OS-200 is probably similar in size as the Saito FG30. The hole for air outlet is covered with plastic padding net for better appearance. Sorry, but I have no experience regarding the electrical retracts. I use the ESM pneumatic, but I replaced the tubing, fittings and valves to Robart and put the lot on the wing. It works great, the air stays in the system for 48 hours and it’s possible to maneuver the slow and scale-like. The original stuff was leaking and the retracts moved like a mousetrap. Some pictures of how I did it, hope it could help you out. forumbilder.se/images/2a102011124325f1be.jpg forumbilder.se/images/b81020111249587c8e.jpg forumbilder.se/images/741201292037A7a68.jpg forumbilder.se/images/0a6201210414489c6.jpg forumbilder.se/images/fd52012112901791a.jpg

RE: ESM Spitfire 72.5
Great to hear that the maiden was enjoyable and went well. I can see from the picture that the weather was a bit better then here in Sweden; we have 4 decimeter of snow and -10 degrees Celsius. I am looking forward to the film.

RE: ESM Spitfire 72.5
Sorry to hear about the tailwheel bracket. I hope you will find a good replacement. Just be careful with the weight in the tail. 10 grams extra in the tail probably will give you 100 grams extra nose weight.

RE: ESM Spitfire 72.5
I don´t have the TT F-130 in my ESM Spitfire, it´s in my Hangar 9 Spitfire. In that plane I have to copensate a bit for the torque. In my ESM I have an OS-200. I has not been airborn yet, due to to much snow here in Sweden, so I can not help you with with the way it handles. I will probably wont fly it until may or june. I will practice a bit moore with my Hangar 9 Spitfire until I´m ready for the ESM. I have only been dooing this fantastic hobby for one year, and I have A few more items to sort before the ESM is ready. Today I lathe a washer that weighs 300 grams (0,7 pounds) for the propnut to get some moore noseweight, I hope it will work good. I´m looking forward to here your comments after the maiden and I hope it will go great.

RE: ESM Spitfire 72.5
I dont have any experience from an OS-120, but I have a Thunder Tiger F-130. Would be about the same. I did a test a few month ago and got these results (15% nitro): 3-blade Master AirScrew: 14X7: 6,2 Kg, 10000 rpm 15X7:6,25 Kg, 8700 rpm 16X8: 5,2 Kg, 7500 rpm 2-blade Xoar: 16X6: 6,8 Kg, 10700 rpm 18X6: 6,2 Kg, 7000 rpm (1 lbs = 0.5 kg) I guess a 16x8 would be fine, perhaps a 17x6.

RE: ESM Spitfire 72.5
I will redo my pull-pull also using Dubro. I dont trust the stuff that came with the model and I think it´s to difficult to adjust. When I'm cutting a cowl I use a carbide wheel and a sanding drum (Hope it´s called that in english). Works great! RE: ESM Spitfire 72.5
Hi, I am also building the ESM Spitfire with a OS-200 FS. It´s a very good looking plane, but a bit tricky to build. Nice work you have done on yours, I`m looking forward to your next post. If you would like to see my build you can do so here amfk2006.editboard.com/t393-esm-spitfire. It´s in Swedish, but a lot of pictures. /Emil
