RE: Official Losi Micro SCT Thread
I can assure you, both 8750kv and 10250kv work fine on 2s lipo and NiMH. My response from Horizon was pathetic: " Sorry for any inconvenience and problems you have experienced with our products. This will need to come in for a warranty evaluation. Unfortunately, we can not quote prices or say if it's going to be covered under warranty without first seeing the product in our service center. Evaluations are free." Then they go on to tell me about labor charges. Total Bull. After the the thousands I've spent on Horizon products. Even if I never bought anything from them I probably never would again. The truck loses range within 20 feet and they want me to pay to send it in and hope they don't charge me for labor? Luckily I have a spectrum dx3 and it works fine. I'm pissed. The first time I ever need support from them on a brand new product and all they can do is send a generic email telling me to send it in on my dime? And this was after a 4 day wait. I work. I can't just call them but I'll have to if nothing else to complain about the rep who sent me the email. Or is this really the support I should expect from Horizon on a $150 product?

Does any body have a link to the diff shim mod or instructions and parts needed? My SCT has about 20 feet of range so not so fun. I emailed Horizon Monday but no response. Hopefully I can get time to call them sometime when they are open.

Thanks, Andrew already said that though. I'll keep that in mind though but this one has a landing gear. I really need to post up pictures. I like how the landing gear turned out on the lil Rascal...

Thanks guys. So what RPM should I expect from this little guy? I'm using Sig Champion fuel 25% nitro. Prop is a Zinger 5 x 3. And how much should I richen it up from max RPM?

Norvel .049
Hi, I'm breaking in a pre-revlite .049 BigMig R/C. I was wondering what RPM's I should be seeing. I'm getting about 18,000 on a Zinger 5 x 3 tuned down to 17,500. Also, I read somewhere in the Norvel thread that the prop should be installed a certain way compared to the location of the piston. I can't find it now though... Thanks for the help. I'll post pics and hopefully a maiden video of my Sig 'Lil Rascal soon...

Anyone know how it'll fly on a Norvel .074? Would this be enough power? I'm sure it'll keep the weight down and be a floater though...

Hey Rocket Rob, what did your Lil Rascal weigh in at? I finally got done with mine with the Norvel .049 and it weighs 10 oz's dry. I put the Lil Extra tailwheel on there like you put on yours. Had to cut the rudder hinges though and re-hinge it to get it in but thanks for the tip, it looks good! Can't wait to get it flying.

Hey Rog, what did you mean by: "but for my type of flying the 2.4 stuff isnt the way to go,,cant just pop out the rx and put it in another plane as the antennae have to be routed (well its not a field fix anyway)" The antenna on 2.4 stuff are pretty small, no routing needed... Just a little confused on why 2.4 isn't for you.

How many grams does that Schlosser .05 weigh anyway? I was hoping to get away with having the battery in the cabin...I think my engine weighs about 50 grams or so... I still need to wait until payday to get my Dymond servos and a 1 oz round tank. And I really supposed I should fuel proof the engine bay and make a firewall block to limit the fuel that gets back there...

Yep, there should be. I've had my motor mounted for a while now but the big delay has been fitting the fuel tank and now the issues with the cheap Walkera servo I used. Not only is it drawing way too much current but it even stripped out! I'll be sure to post my pics in this thread as well even though it's not a diesel engine, rather a Norvel .049 R/C...

RE: Sig Lil'Rascal gets Oily
Thanks RocketRob and AMB. Yeah my throttle servo is in the front and I can barely fit a 1oz Flex Slant tank. I think I'll try the tank you have, Sullivan, right? Of course I still need to tear out the old Walkera servo which I epoxied balsa rails to and CA'd to the floor of the compartment. I would've used a different servo but they were too tall, too bad I didn't think of turning it sideways like you.

I couldn't find it with the search...

Yeah, I know what you mean about the Walkera 4#3. I needed something to fly indoors during winter though and it did the trick. Yes, I think the Norvel will be turning about that much, 15K. But I'll be turning a 5x3 instead of the 6x4 you are...nice to know about the CG though. Also I left the downthrust in and I also ended up with a little bit more right thrust than the original set up.

RE: Rx Battery for a Lil' Rascal
I haven't flown it as electric. I've chatted with someone who did and said it was poo until they put a brushless motor in. Let me know what you find out about the CG. Digger- I charged with a Piranha Peak charger. It goes in 50Mah increments so I set it to 150Mah. Maybe I should set it to 200Mah. But good point, I try cycling it. One of the 160Mah batteries said "open circuit" when charging so I don't know what that was about unless there's a loose connection inside. planebuilder66- Yeah, I'll have to dig that Walkera servo out and try to find something else that is low profile enough to fit.

RE: Rx Battery for a Lil' Rascal
Awesome Rob! Why didn't I see your thread a week ago when I started mine??? That's awesome! I've got a Norvel .049 Pre-Revlite R/C in mine. I had to use this cheap-chinese servo because the other micro servos I had were just to tall. I haven't read your entire Lil' Rascal thread but what fuel tank are you using? I'm using a 1oz slant flex tank and it's still a really tight fit even after shaping it with a heatgun. I'll have to post in that thread instead of make a new thread when I get mine going. And what tail wheel is that? The Dubro Micro tailwheel I got looks funny.

RE: Rx Battery for a Lil' Rascal
Maybe the 160Mah's bad then if it can't run 1 sub-sub-micro servo for more than a minute...I'll have to check out the other 160Mah I have. But you're right, I'd probably have better peace of mind using the 400Mah. It's just that the project is turning up a little overweight.

Rx Battery for a Lil' Rascal
Hi all, I've been converting a Sig Lil' Rascal to nitro and have a question on the receiver battery needed. The AUW for the Lil' Rascal is listed at 8.5 to 9.5 oz's so I'm looking to be right in that range even fully fueled with a 1 oz. tank. However I'm trying to build as light as possible so hence the questions . I bought a couple 160Mah batteries and a 400Mah battery from RadicalRC (both 4 cell). The problem is that when I plug in a fully charged 160Mah battery to just the throttle servo (a Walkera 4#3 heli 2.5g or 3g servo) it runs out of juice almost immediately. Well maybe not fully out of juice but enough to drop below the AR6100's receiver LVC and cause the servo to work sporadically and the light on the receiver to flash. So no good. I made sure it wasn't the servo by trying one of the S3104 rudder/elevator servos. The 1100Mah Rx pack the Spektrum radio came with works fine, as did the 400Mah battery. So here are the questions: Is this normal for the 160Mah battery to be totally useless on even one servo? Or... Am I doomed to have to add weight by using the 400Mah battery? (.63 oz Vs. 1.05 oz) And... If I do have to use the 400Mah battery what kind of flight time can I expect on it using (2) Futaba S3104's and a sub-micro Walkera servo?
