RE: F22 gotta see video!
compared to the agility of the mig's and su's the F-22 is far top-heavy! Most of the "spectacular" capabilities are simply marketing and propaganda news. It is, no doubt, a quite impressive Bomber, and impressive carrier for weapons, but it is never a fighter. Even I like the plane because of its ugly appearance [:D]

Yeah of course... The second one is a nice Photoshop touchup as can be seen in the shadow below the plane because its not fitting the silhouette of the plane at all!

RE: 14MZ w Eurosport Elevon setup help...
NOTHING! The fact that 1 guy here had problems to setup the Tx and that you seen someone that crashed for ANY reason using this Tx does not say anything about the quality of this Tx. Would you have said the Rx G3 is something to discuss about, I would accept. But the easy solution for this is to use the 149DP. I have seen two guys coming down with the JR 10x (one of them is Mark Hinton here in the board, just ask him!) He now uses the 14MZ since two years and I bet my A$$ of he never ever will sell it again! The radio is one of the finest to setup I ever had. You don't even need a manual. I suggest to clear all mixings you did before. I bet you did a mistake somewhere and this of course will result in a bad trim later on. I also fly a Eurofighter and can send the file to you if you are interested in. My configuration: 2 x aileron, 2 elevator, 1 canard, 1 x rudder, 1x gear, 1 x airbrake, 1 x brake, 1 x throttle Regards Andreas

Do a search here before asking these question. It is mor than one time discussed and NO it is not mgnesium or phosphor [:@] Bottom line for you is, you will not get it to work properly with our little engines due to physical circuumstances (not enough heat) The only colour which works half way is red but compared to the costs it will take to get the dye its useless.

In grmany they are sold under the brand of "Rotenberg" but I believe its the same chinese factory your friend got them from [:'(] Would you mind to ask your friend for the components he used to convert them to CNC. I am thinking about this for about two years now but I could'nt fin d a paiable solution here in germany. So maybe your friend has some hints for me or can sell the neccessary parts to me? Thanks in advance for the help. Feel free to send me a PM. I will share my email address the to have conversation easier. Andreas

Deleted the beginning of the text. Maybe I was in a bad mude that morning! Are you dreamin, Boeing is generating most of there money with military products and who buys these stuff? You should accept that Boeing relied on their good position and that they relaxed too long in their swing chair. Read just the pure numbers, iI am not 100% sure but minimum since 3 years Airbus is leading the ranking for sold Civilian Airplanes. And now Boeing trys together with your goverment to change a bit the regulations for incoming planes so that they have a competition benefit. So who is protected by government? We are not playing these tricks here in Europe. Read the newspaper. with the beginning of this year Airbus clens a bit there employees "overhang" and makes 10.000 brave workers unemployed! And there are no parachutes on bord for them!

Hi guys, I am not involved at all at the FLJ Event but just to give you a short feedback about the Tutbine. I use it now since some weeks and it is a great performance!!! Starting and using the Turbine with kerostart is an ease!! Also the onboard EDT is a great item. You never can lose it because its everytime there where it has to be in a real plane as well ;-) The acceleration time is unbeliveable. I had used AMT's and JetCat's in the past but the Booster is another level! As Ali said I think it were some unfortunate circuumstances and is nothing to do with general problems. So: Boost the Cat's

RE: Manufacturers thrust statements etc.
And the answer is: YOU BUY A TOY! And as Davis said (or with other words) None of us can prove the manufacturers specification to 100% right or not! if it is a 12 kg turbine but it delivers only 11 kg then its only ~9% less specification. So what? And as David said our Turbines are "for most of the users" locked at a specific RPM. Under certain conditions that will cause a power loss or will give you some more power (Hot /high altidude/ cold / low altitude) So what do you ask a manufacturer for? He says "my Turbine will deliver 12kg thrust a 14°C / altidue 50m above sealevel" You live in lets say South Africa, altidue 1000m average temperature 23°C. Which Power would you expect? And don't forget tolerances. Our Turbines are that much sharp on the edge of a knife from the concept that it is normal to have +- 700 - 800 gr. of thrust Will you claim a manufacturer also if his Turbine will deliver much mor thrust then expected and your model will "blow up" in flight because you used full throttle and relied on the manufacturer specs? Then my next question is, which Modell manufacturer will guarantee you that his model will withstand a certain amount of power for example "designed to "survive" a full throttle 12kg Turbine.? Or other way round, Manufacturer says: This plane will have superb performance while using a 12kg Turbine. What if it flies like a Duck? Endless story. The only thing I totally agree is that the Tubine should not be lightyears away from the manufacturers specs. If he say 12kg and out comes 9 then its way to bad. but I never heard that from anybody. The maximum I ever heard of was 1,5 kg difference saying it should have 16kg of thrust. So still roughly in between 10%. This by the way is normal with the specs of our cars!

RE: Manufacturers thrust statements etc.
ORIGINAL: Geoff White Interesting responses, I can only recount my experience, back in 2000 when I wanted to start flying jets I went to 2-3 jet meets, watched, observed and spoke to as many people as I could before I made my purchase. I still own this original turbine so must have made a good choice. The real knack is in talking to the people that you see flying turbines regularly and ignoring all the other rubbish. In my opinion the most important factor is reliability of the turbines as a flame out can be very serious as I have seen many models damaged when landing out. You are never going to be able to judge reliability based on manufacturers claims, you have to get out there and watch/observe talk to people. Jason - At the time I bet the sophia was seen as a good turbine[;)]
I 100% underscore what you say. The first engine which was "industrially" produced and I have seen was the AMT Pegasus. And this was the engine I bought and kept for 7 years! Then when "starting by pressing a button" was "in" I bought 2 x P120 and later a P180. Now cerosene start and spool up time is more important for me and I bought a G160 now because this engine impressed me on several Airshows last year. So its actually true, you buy what you feel comfortable with! Until today none of these engines ever failed except 1 time the AMT because the tailcone went of. But this is acceptable after 6 years of use.........

RE: Manufacturers thrust statements etc.
ORIGINAL: basimpsn I guess its my fault if my brand new jet ran off the runway or stall on take off because Manufacturer lies about the power output its ok ?[X(] What is this I’m reading?
If this is the case, then something went wrong in advance...... Except you try to fly a 20kg model with a 5 kg thrust delivering turbine I would agree with what you say but 95% of the models I have seen are overpowered! If you have a Turbine that delivers 10 - 12 kg thrust I would say the total wet model would maximum weight 17 - 18 kg. If this is true the weight to thrust ratio is better with whatever you have flown before with a piston engine driven Model (due to the fact that the thrustspeed is more than 300% higher)! So bringing it to the point, there are no real bad engines outside at the moment. They all do what they should. Reliability is often hard to measure as long nobody knows the circuumstances why the engine failed and as long I do not try to know better than teh manufacturer whats good or bad for the engine. You can't go wrong if you buy what you see most on airfields. And there are new manufacturers out know which will also deliver high quality engines. The only engine I ever heard which really was a piece of crap came from china and I am sure we all know what I am talking about..... So most of the European manufacturers deliver high quality reliable engines. And if the engine has +1kg or - 1kg thrust..... If you are so close on the edge with your model........

RE: Manufacturers thrust statements etc.
Interesting thread. But one thing to think about: If you doubt the parameters a manufacturer is giving are wrong, how do you measure it? Do you have a calibrtated test bench which fits any "standards" (I doubt there are any!) Is your scale calibrated, was the humidity, air temperature pressure exactly the same the manufacturer did their tests with? If you compare to Boing/RR I must smile a bit. I mean to be really honest, at least WE are talking about toys! Not more not less, expensive ones but still toys! I totally agree with you that minimum requirements should match but even things like fuel consumption and so on are some part of individual flying style! And as someone else said before, go on Jet meetings talk to users, build your own picture. If you get as a result that product"A" instead of "B" is THE product and you buy it because you have seen that it was working well in a lets say Eurosport, and you will use it in an F-18 with similar size/ weight and afterwards and you are not satisfied because performance is different and then you will measure that 1Kg of Thrust is missing, what is your summary then? It is quite subjective...... As someone before said, why is it so a big story with our little engines compared to a standard piston engine where nobody is giving a rats as about this? [&o]

RE: MIBO A10
Uhhh, thats a installation..... I mean to be honest, I also do not install my cables with a ruler but that looks a bit to messy? Minimum what I would change is the position of the receiver. Definately above the ECU is the most worse place to install. Also I see a lot of battery cables crossing the servo leads. No good at all because all interferences due to consumption of the pumps, turbine itself etc. will cause massive noise! Not to attack you, just a good meant hint! I also, as I said be unable to "clean" install my stuff but thats the minimum I try to avoid! here are pics of my Eurosport : [link=http://www.modelljets.com/4images/details.php?image_id=899]Installation[/link] Wish you all a happy new year!
