RE: Washer fluid and latex paint question!!? Help!!
ORIGINAL: Ham639 I don't ever use the floetrol. Tried it, couldn't tell a difference. I do use ''Fresh'' Blue windshield wiper solvent. I have had great success with Latex paints. The secret is to be patient and every color will mix and spray a little different. Also always spray with ''Flat'' paints. Coverage is much better and always clear coat. Latest paint job below:
And use Behr Paints! JQ
ORIGINAL: Rotten40851   Yes, a better Pre Flight Checklist would have helped for sure. Just saying that if he upgraded from the P.O.S. 72 Meg Tx he is using to a 2.4 system, he can't forget to put his antenna up. Not wanting  to spend a few hundred bucks on a 2.4 Tx and a couple of extra 2.4 Rx's cost him 5 Large!!  After the first Brain Fart, I would have learned my lesson!!!
How is his 72MHz a P.O.S? That is one of the oddest posts I have seen. 72 Mhz served well for 3+decades...and still works fine. 2.4 did not render 72 MHz as a P.O.S., sorry. I still use them with great success. I don't understand your posting his 72Mhz as a P.O.S. JEff

Got the top fuse half all stringered and ready for sheeting. Here is a shot of the navigator area, showing the shelf, and a picture of the cockpit area with inst panel support and cockpit shelf. So far smooth sailing and building quick. And yes, I see my camera date is wrong again...[8|] Jeff

Barry...I am just unhappy it is so far away.....can you fix that? [:D] Seriuosly tho, I am sure BB put a lot of work into these events each and every year, and I am sure the club was a great help. Good luck with future events, and hopefully I can make it down there again someday. Best of luck in the future, going forward. Jeff

RE: New Build - Dave Andersen Ki-45 Toryu
Got the last of the fuse formers and ribs cut out today. So, I started framing up the fuse. With these plans from Dave, you build the top half of the fuse, sheet the top half and then flip it over and build the lower fuse onto the upper fuse. Here is the top side with formers in place (less 2 that I have to position later, after I add some balsa shelves): Jeff

RE: How to take apart cylinder for air retracts?
It all depends on the retract and the cylinder. Some are a press fit, some thread together, some press fit with tension pin, etc. Jeff

I had one of those. It was a terrific flyer. Only vice was that it WOULD drop a left wing if you got her too slow on landing. I had a ball with it until it crashed while being stupid and doing an aileron roll with full flaps and retracts down[:D]. I musta had 200 touch and gos with the baby. Enjoy. Jeff

RE: What's a good plane for this engine?
The Hp to weight ratio is too impractical. At 10 hp, it is roughly equivalent to a Q-100 at 7-9 pounds. This engine is limited to a roughly 50 pound warbird for acceptable performance. The weight is good for a warbird, but needs more hp. Jeff

RE: New Build - Dave Andersen Ki-45 Toryu
Thanks guys. I like the Dinah as well Chad. I am most partial to the Mosquito, tho. I have the templates all cut from the plans, so I hope to start cutting wood next week, as I have a fly-in to attend this weekend. I think I can have this one flying, in primer, by next Spring. If it goes well, slap some paint on it, do some more test flights, and get with Dave, and hopefully release plans shortly thereafter. Jeff

RE: Spitfire Brotherhood (All Spitfires Welcome)
12 foot Spit retiring for the year.... Well, we had a state trooper stop out at the field today. He went to the end of the runway in his squad car and pointed the radar gun at the Spit. I got a run at him twice. He clocked the Spit at 94 and 98 MPH...that's pretty good. Using the Bolly 30X15 prop at 5K rpm on the ground. Luckily, no speeding ticket was issued . I will be putting the Spitfire away for the year. I ended up with 16 flights on it for the year. Muffler keeps coming loose, so I need to find a way to prevent that. Otherwise a great season (short) with the Spitfire. Jeff
