RE: Check this vid. Will freak the neighbors again.
Its a Flame wheel. I got it at heliproz with the GPS unit. It will hold position pretty close, but you still have to watch it. They say it will hold better but it doesn't. I got the lights online, don't remember where, nitromodels maybe. It only flys about 6 minutes on a charge but I have 4 batteries. I hang my gopro under it and get great vids too. It was a rocky start with it to get it set up but it is working well now. Pretty cool.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkTiKxsxfv8&feature=plcp This is too fun. It is easier to see at night and flys pretty well. Flame Wheel with lights. Cool

Flame Wheel 550 questions
Anyone have one of these? I can't believe I am the only one. They said they sold hundreds and have never had a problem with them. I have had nothing but problems. What are you using for settings when you set it up with the computer. The early crap I got sorted out and have had some great flights with it but the stupidest thing I have ever seen is the motors keep quitting in the air. It says the motors shouldn't quit in flight mode, but like yesterday, I took off, went into a hover at about 20 feet and all the motors just stopped. You don't have time to get them restarted. What a major pain. Any ideas how to stop this? Do you have cutoff set to intelligent on the tx monitor? How do you have auto pilot set? They told me to use 130% and that seems to work well. What do you have the loss on the voltage protection set at? It defaults to 0 but I set it on the last one to -2.4 so I wasn't loosing the engines due to battery cut off. There is no way that happened, I was only 30 seconds into the flight. Any words of advice would be appreciated. I am getting really tired of not having this work right. What a pain. Thanks.

RE: Where to start?
You can get a good one at heliproz for under $500 or spend more and get more. I just got the flame wheel and it is pretty cool. I got the GPS version of it. Will just about fly itself. The gaui is good too. Get one and you can make larger ones after you learn the concept. You have to buy the gyros anyway, get the whole thing and learn a bunch. I would get the flame wheel and then make a much larger one with your setup and use the computer from the flame wheel with new engines and speed controllers. That could be cool.

Alrighty then, I put it in, it works fine. Anyone want to do it, it seems to work great. I got the lipo and it came with the futaba ends on it so all you do is plug it in. Works great.

RE: Flame Wheel 550 questions
Ok, back in the penalty box. One of the motors is bad. Man, the guys from heliproz must be sick of me. They will have one here tomorrow. Those guys are good. They just know whats going on with it and answer the questions. I sure like dealing with them. Now it this thing flys as well as they say, I will be jacked. I will order FPV gear from them soon if it works good and see how that goes. Whoooo Hoool

RE: Flame Wheel 550 questions
Missed in the instructions somewhere, you have to hold the sticks back and left to get it to initialize. They need better instructions with a lot less crap in them. I got them initialized.. I have to do one more thing and then I can test it. I need more time. This hit and miss a couiple minutes at a time is tough.

RE: Flame Wheel 550 questions
I did that about 10 times. Its being a pain. I used a different computer and got it to work. Don't know why the other didn't. DO I just click write after I program each step? Thats what I get out of the directions. I got it all done and unplugged it and turned it all off. When I turned it on it did different things and then the light flashes. I am guessing that it won't go any farther inside because the gps can't find anything so I will take it out this morning and see if it initializes. It is different so that may be good. Hope it works. Looking forward to trying it.

RE: Flame Wheel 550 questions
I am using windows 7 and loaded the 32 bit driver. The system says it is 32 bit. I can't seem to get windows to stop loading other drivers. I get it to work, unpug it and then it loads a windows one if I plug it back in. I got the naza and gps last week at the same time from heliproz. I will go play with it again. I unloaded everything last time and will reload it.

Flame Wheel 550 questions
Anyone know much about this thing? I just got one and after a to of work got it to talk to the computer, but now it won't again. The computer says it is there, and once I got the sticks to move the switches in setup, but they stopped in the middle and won't do it again. I can't seem to get the damn thing to talk to the putter. Any ideas? I am using a futaba 7 ch 2.4 RX. I don't have anything else connected to it. So far I am pretty let down about the whole thing.

Never a good thing. I used to fly jets for that company and have seen too many of their planes go down. Their new BAE jet is a lot better plane for the job. Keep the pilots safe.
