RE: Great Planes Reactor GP/EP 3D ARF .46-.70
On mine I have a mix that when I throw a switch both the ailerons go up about .25". Not a spoileron mix per say, in this configeration the ailerons DO NOT move with the elevator input, just kind of a trim offset. It works well on this airplane as it did with my Funtana also.

Tony, I went with what local flyers are using, I haven't done much experimenting myself. Mark

RE: Great Planes Reactor ARF .46-.70 - Build Thread
I have been flying mine with a APC 14x4W (wide), this prop works very well for type of A/c. I have picked up some Zinger Pro 14x4's to try, but have not flown it yet. I want to try the wood Zonger Pro because they are lighter (need tail weight) and will spool up quicker. Mark
ORIGINAL: nanu You guys flying with the Os FSII 70 getting enough pull out of hover? I am getting a Reactor, looks awesome but can't decide on power plant. The Os is less money than the Saito and I am trying to keep a little money in my pocket. Thanks
I'm running the FS 70 II, APC 14x4W prop, waiting to try a Zinger Pro 14x4 for kicks, its has good pullout, not a rocket, but good. The money thing was a biggy for me too, I went with the OS for $209, however, the Saito 82, more power, and like 4 oz lighter might prove to be a more versitle powerplant, heck, $45ish more!
ORIGINAL: JustErik Ralph, I agree with Ernie. Your power package weighs about the same as the OS. .70 4-stroke, and that engine has already been reported on in this thread by Mark (FNG). His balanced fine with mini servos in the tail and the battery pack just ahead of them. If you go with standards in the tail, you probably wont have to relocate the battery that far aft. RE: 2nd plane
I kind of steared a buddy of mine to a Tribute. At $90, its a quick easy building profile, very willing airplane, purhaps more funflyish than 3D, but it can be very forgiving too. So far it has been a very good choice for his second plane. He has a OS 46 LA, 4 standard servo's, and HS 81 mini on the throttle. Do a search here on RCU for Tribute 36 ARF.

Magnum makes a reasonable polished good looking spinner, but again they are all an with wide props. I sure you could trim them, but at the price I not sure I take it on. http://www.hobbypeople.net/gallery/237153.asp Mark

RE: Great Planes Reactor GP/EP 3D ARF .46-.70
Ernie, I'm running OS 70 surpass on mine witch is a good 4 oz more than you Satio. With a Satio 82 I'm guessing you'd run an APC 14x4W, or maybe a 15x4w prop. See the link for a Tru turn spinner cut for wide props. 2.25" Spinner for the Saito 82 for use with wide props http://www.truturn.com/cgi-bin/store/agora.cgi?p_id=tt2282bw:13&ppinc=spinners130&exact_match=on Adapter for the Saito 82 http://www.truturn.com/cgi-bin/store/agora.cgi?exact_match=on&p_id=tt0717a&ppinc=adapt0717a0716a It states the weight of 1.73oz for this spinner, plus the adapter of 1.13oz = 2.86oz. Due to the weight and the cost of the polished aluminum spinner, I used the supplied spinner and cut the blade relief further to allow the use of my APC 14x4W prop.

Erik, as far as not being out quit far enough, I'd bet your be ok. Mine ended pretty much on the money and if you look at the pictures of mine and the red paint on the cowl, it does not quit line up with the fuselage trim, cowl could have moved back abit. Plenty of room for the cowl to back too. The pictures are at http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_4455981/mpage_2/tm.htm Post 50

Looking good Erik! I was wondering if anyone might have some input on my using a Perry pump with my OS 70 II surpass so I could move my fuel tank back to the CG. This I thinks would allow me to remove the lead from the tail. Any Idea which pump I would use? thanks Mark
ORIGINAL: JustErik Mark and likestofly, did you have to relieve the side of the cowl or just cut a hole in the bottom?
only holes in the side are for my needle valves, the OS inside adapter keeps it well away from the inside (side) of the cowl.

RE: Great Planes Reactor GP/EP 3D ARF .46-.70
ORIGINAL: Guillermito Hello, very pretty the model! you used the accessories of kit? also hinges CA? Thank you very much.
I used Rocket city ball links at the control horns and z bends at the servo, not the supplied plastic clevis and 90' bend/clevis supplied. Otherwise all supplied hardware. I flew mine today! Its a keeper, I need to move my CG aft abit I think. Very forgiving and very capable airplane. The OS 70 FS II Surpass pulls it verticle from a hover at a comfortable rate (still running rich). I'm looking forward to having somemore time to get this one dailed in! My 4 year old and 6 1/2 year old girls were with me today and I didn't get too much done, just 3 short flights.

RE: Great Planes Reactor GP/EP 3D ARF .46-.70
ORIGINAL: rclement Anyone know if this plane can be modified to accept standard size servos? Any flight reports yet? Pictures?
If you look at the manual online it tells you where to enlarge the tail servo opennings. The aileron servo opennings could be done but might be just abit more work. I have a OS 70 II surpass in the front of mine and HS225 on all flight controls, It could use the tail weight you would gain from full sized servos in the back! I hope to get out and fly mine today [:D]

RE: Great Planes Reactor GP/EP 3D ARF .46-.70
Ok, I got mine all together, but have not flown it. Need to brake in the engine, and the weather is not very good now either. All up wieght (dry) is 93.1 oz. Thats is with a JR 7 ch Rx (mounted as far aft as possible in bay), 720mil 4 cell MIMH batt (just forward of the tail servos for balance), OS FS70 II surpass with the 90 deg inside muffler adapter, and a APC 14x4W prop. HS 81mg on the throttle, mounted in the most aft bay under the hatch. CG is just about as the manual states (4.75" aft of LE), perhaps just a touch aft. The manual says 745sq in wing area, Tower says 702sq isn wing area. so wing loading is either 17.99 or 19.1. I would have to say that 18 would be nice and floaty, 19 should be ok too! Mark

RE: Great Planes Reactor GP/EP 3D ARF .46-.70
Just a note about an error in the manual. On fitting your engine to the engine mount. The picture shows 4-5/16" from front of drive washer to firewall. The text reads 4-15/16" from front of drive washer to firewall. The text is correct! should be 4-15/16"

RE: H9 Tribute vs H9 Funtana x 50 vs Weston Mini Hype?
I have a H9 Funtana 50 X, I would not recamend this one for your first 3D airplane, Great airplane, just not the best learning tool. My buddy has the H9 Tribute. It is working out to be a great 2nd airplane for him. The Tribute remainds me of a funfly plane, although I dont think it would take much of a betting on touch and goes etc like a fun fly planes do. For 3D flying the Tribute seems ok, the one I have flown has a OS 46 LA on it, its a good cheap combo. The H9 arfs are among the best that I have every put together. All that said, my pick, especialy if I lived where you do, would be the Hype. Mark

RE: Mini-3d and Weber 32
If your still not happy with the APC 10x4 or x5, try any cheap wood prop. I run zinger 10x4's, not the most efficient prop, but with the kind of power to weight your talking about, that quick responce is realy all you need. Mark

RE: Twinstar
I had OS25FX's on mine, great twin trainer airplane. I had mine set up to with throttle to rudder mixing, IE, Left rudder, the Rt engine would speed up a bit. It was fun for taxing and stall turns. My throttle trim just worked out that one engine would quit before the other. I would do a long take off and fly on 1 engine. just need to watch turns. The nacelles on this thing point out so it doesn't realy want to spin in on you. If you do get in trouble on 1 engine just throttle back alittle bit. Have fun! Mark

RE: Kyosho flip .25 questions.
ORIGINAL: HitecMan I want one of these. I have a os 25 FX, would this motor pull this plane out of a hover.
I have ran an OS25FX in my Extreme Flight RC Mini 3D, it is approx 2.5lbs. It has great verticle. I think 100 grams is about 3.5 oz, so your talking 3.06 - 3.28lbs. I have funfly airplanes running OS32FX's and mouse can pipes that are a good fit for this weight, but I think the 25 would be abit short of what your looking for. I think a fella by the name of "YNOT" has had a Flip 25. Search the 3d forum, it should show up, or send him a PM. He's a good guy and will get back to you! Mark
