RE: RCGF Engines
Too many MSDS forms involved. I guess I lucked out caused we used 55 gals of carbon tectracloride just to clean Electric motors. Sprayed on with a wash down gun. Boy you had to be down wind. I do not miss those days.[:)]

Cajun that seems about right as I used this back in early 70's . Have not had much use for it other than electrical use in control pannels. Can we still by the stuff without a lot of paper work in todays time?

RE: RCGF Engines
Radio Shack used to carry Carbon Tecnacloride I do not know how to spell it but it is for removing oil and dirt build up in generators and electric motors. I used this once on a plane that my fuel tank cracked and dumped fuel in. You have to blot it on and blot it off but it does work. It may be carried in spray cans now days! Does smell real bad. [:'(]

Well this news made up my mind to call Valley View and see what their reply is. I have the engine still in the box and have not even put it on a plane yet maybe I can send it back. I hope that DLE will do something to just fix the intake and send the part. I've got lots of tools.[;)] OH and yes I"m a gambler anyways so I do'nt whine or cry over the small stuff.[:D]

Hey goirish your friend 27% depends on how he flys and the final wt of the plane .I am flying the 27% edge540 and ended up with a 16.8 # plane running 45cc on it. Flys well but if I had to do it again I would put a 50cc on her.

Thanks CMAN for the picks and I hope the 15cc will fly it well. I will be watching close to find out how she does in the air and how much vertical that engine can handle. You are right on with a new cowl the plane will still be goodlooking. [;)]

RE: RCGF Engines
goirish your engine is pulling good # for that prop. I think if you are not having any problems starting and the idle is good your engine may just be taking its time to fully seat the rings. I wish I could compare my rcgf to you but I had the same thing happen on my crrc pro. And then all in about three weeks It built up compression and RPMs and also it still put out some black residue but very little. It pulls a zoar 17-7 steady 8000. I hope that my rcgf 26 pulls as good as yours when I get it broke in.[:)]

Yea TVL and TJ ; I know you got cold stuff all around you and I only have a little here. Sure glad to be in Texas but ya'll got the real pretty part in the spring. All i get is miles and miles of barren sore eyesight. [:D] Would not trade it for nothing sience I have to work outside in the weather year around. Great looking plane TJ and also I was wanting to know about the MT engines. What little I've read is all good. So if you go that way I'll be watching for your input. I would put the DLE-111 on that plane if I was able to afford the bucks. Keep them plane flying [;)]Don

Go to Jtec the only other mufflers that fit the 45cc are ones that will fit the Zenoa G-62 and cheif aircraft sight shows several manufracters different designs. I would buy Jtec if I was you cause they are for the RCGF 45cc .Just my two cents worth[;)]

I have been wanting to ask you if the piston has only one direction it should be installed into the clyinder. I know that your ring land on some cly determines which way the piston should be installed and if you get it backwards the ring will pop in and out of the ports untill it breaks and then ouch. I have'nt been into my DL but have on others and I know it sometimes makes a difference.

RE: DL-50 engine
From earler post the advantage is you may stop some excess fuel sputter inside the motor box on some of the plane designs . Depends on the cowl building air pressure in the box.[;)] I plan on using one only if I see that I need it. Not very much expense so why not can't hurt.

I have the 20,26.45.and the 62cc engines but have not put them in all of the planes as of yet. Need to build a little faster I guess. Oh well winter coming on and then I will build. Thanks to all and please let everyone know your engine speck after breakin detail prop/rpm/muffler/planes. That will give all who live here a great Ideal of what to look forward to.[:D]

RE: RCGF Engines
The 20cc drill jig will not fit the 45cc I have both of the engines. Go ahead and order both the engine and drill jig. I am flying the goldberg 77" Edge with my 45cc and it weight is 16.8 # dry. The engine is still not broke in but has plenty of power and I think once broken in it will hover the plane. That remains to be seen. Still all in all I am very pleased with the engine. OH by the way also the plane.

From the looks of that wrist pin bearing I would also check the conrod bearing and crank bearings. May be over kill but if one goes you are may be ready for a engine overhall and are as luck will have it very blessed. how many flights did you say you have on the engine?

what kind of debree was wedged in there and where did it come from. Was it just carbon build up that got between the piston and cly wall. Are you saying the ring is stuck in the piston groove.

Hey Piston I just thought I would let you know my 45 after two gal of fuel is just now starting to show RPM increase from 6400 to almost 6900. Thats on a 20-6 prop. Boy this engine runs fine but it is taking me a long time to burn two gal of fuel. Its a great engine and maybe I will soon be able to go to a 20-8 prop. Flying a 16.8 # Edge with no problems. [:D]Cheers

RE: nitro planes SU-26 50CC specs
Do'nt know what the engine is but it looks like it is in the 80cc range. I have the same plane so I know how big the cowl is. Just my 2 cents worth. Have you bench run the engine and if so checked the RPM on that prop. The 22-8 prop is for a 50cc engine and you would turn real high RPM if that engine is an 80cc. TJ may have a greater knowledge of these larger engines also BOB Pastrollia. I hope I spelled his name right. He started this thread. I'll be back to see. [:)]

Great to here about your flight and no problems. I am looking forward to more reports in the future. Is the 22-10 too much prop or is it pulling the plane too fast. Or is the prop too much too soon on a new engine. What did it tack at? [:D]

82ndsteve The 45 is much smoother on vibration than the 43. I have both and unless you are needing a lighter engine i would reccomend the 45.

RE: RCGF Engines
Hey Thanks for the Info are ya'll using the stock muffler on the 45. I am using a G-62 pitts style muffler. I am going to put the stock one on and check RPM and see if it makes any difference. I have already checked the timeing and its right on. I will have more time this week to really fine tune the engine. All I know is the engine run fine and transions really well . I have made 10 flights and no dead sticks but have lost two props on landings. The plane is 16.5 # . Outacntrl keep your post coming with all your comments and I look forward to your Info. I have learned from these forums that everyone has good Info and this helps us all. Daddysam you may be right on muffler restriction. I do not use stock mufflers on most of my planes. Thanks Don[:D]

RE: RCGF Engines
Yea outacntrl and daddysam I know the RPM is only 6600 on a 20-8 but my elevation is 3000 ft. So far on every gas engine I have with the exception of two my RPM range is always several hundred lower than anyone elses. But also I do not have very much run time on the engines. They will never match what ya'll are getting.
