RE: FEJ honeycomb owners PLEASE CHECK YOUR STABS
I don't think the carbon cloth was applied correctly, but rather oversaturated which does not really help much. A good carbon reinforcement should be super stiff when cured. I have cut myself with rough edges in the past, that's how stiff it should be.

One good thing is that, though not required in Texas, Dave always wears his helmet. Sure helps.

Agree, the entrance to Plant 4 is a mad house in the morning. Have had a few unwanted close encounters myself. I will try to visit him on my way out today. Be strong Dave!

Boli what happens if V2 is called on takeoff roll and then shit hits the fan......do you commit to takeoff or is aborting the takeoff even an option at that point?

Dude, you were able to actually break ground on a 23lb Falcon? I was thinking more like a Mammoth or even a P200.

RE: FE F-16 1:5.5 Whos got one
When I get the chance, and space, this is also the one I want. A buddy of mine built one for the Air Force and it was to drool for. Only thing I would change is to electrify the retracts, since they are massive and Im not sure that air is robust enough. The detailing is superb. Good luck on your search. Truly an amazing model. Yes, they were hosting an SPA pattern event. I had to wait till 530 to fly, hence was only able to fly once. It was getting pretty dark.

I just flew at the new field for the first time. Beautiful runway and super nice facilitites. I landed a bit hot, so I ended up using most of the 450ft. I'm sure I should be able to cut that by half next time.

Hey Héctor. Just glue the damn things permanently. Save yourself the weight of the servos. The reaction is a floater already, flaps not needed, specially for flying at Sabana Seca. Saludos doc! David

RE: Greater Southwest 2012 Waco Texas
Glad you liked it. For those of you that have PMd me, camera is a FlyDV, $39 on eBay shipped free from Far East. Todd used to carry it, but I understand why he doesn't anymore. It is not a very robust product, but it should last enough to allow you to have some fun with it. FWIW, its the only camera I know of that is aerodynamic enough to be mounted externally. Take care, David

On the newer, heavier F-16's, there is even a bulge on the gear doors to accommodate the larger required wheel. See the pic below so you can get an idea of the proportion. David

RE: s/m 1/6 f16 in my hot little hands!
ORIGINAL: furloughed ual Sinver, get rid of using down elevator for brakes....it doesnt work on the F-16. The stabs are huge and they lift the back of the jet up and take weight off the wheels, so the brakes are not efective at all. This is worse at higher speeds. When you really need the brakes from a long or fast landing, they are not much help at all. If you did not have down elevator, the jet would have easily stopped. I've had the big SM F16 and had the same problem. I took the down elevator and brake mix out and it stops in half the distance. Down elevator works with some jets, but definately NOT the 16.
Definitely, the little tripod landing gear can bite you really fast when down is applied with brakes!!

RE: s/m 1/6 f16 in my hot little hands!
Chema, like dubd stated, if it is windy keep the wings semi flat otherwise the model will parachute on you, which leads to a sudden descent. Flaps work but the extra drag is not worth it, you'd have to keep higher thrust all the way to the ground, which gets touchy. A buddy of mine took some pics of my viper last weekend, see the link below. There was a 10-15kt crosswind which was tricky, but there's a few pics showing the steady AOA on flare. If you bump and down, go around. There's also a couple of vids in the end showing how hard they like to be pulled. Mines smaller than yours but they all fly really good. Saludos maño!!
