RE: PYLON VIP 1 or RIFLE??
Maybe the Voodoo is the hot ticket. I struggled with mine. Poor workmanship/quality in the wing saddle. The flex was ridiculous... I fixed it with carbon fiber strips, fiber glass and epoxy. Not withstanding the re-work/repair... it was not much fun to fly. Stability was not there... the Voodoo... hard to launch, fly and not competitive against the Stinger. The Voodoo does look nice hanging from stings in my shop though. ;-) My 2 cents.

Stinger - Top Model
We've had great luck with this airplane and are trying to get more interested in club pylon racing with it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOES2Cz1FSc&feature=channel&list=UL We've tried the Rifle and Voodoo... both not such good luck. Difficult to setup and fly. The Stinger has been very easy to get flying well. Another video... on board. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-C54BD3sNg&feature=relmfu

RE: landing a voodoo
Spoilers make a huge difference in landing the Voodoo well. You will want to fly a long, low final with the airplane stable when you deploy the spoilers. You may need to 'blip' the throttle while on short final - managing speed is important. Having said this, I parked my Voodoo - poor fuse wing saddle construction, difficult to launch, terribly unstable at speed contributed to decision to move on. It looks pretty as a static display though.

I did it. It really wasn't very expensive and very easy to do.

RE: ofna gtp... might get one....
ORIGINAL: authorjim1
ORIGINAL: MPevine11 might get an ofna gtp. wondering if they are any good. i will post some pics in about an hour when i get home but are these good cars? i used to have a nitro 4-tec 3.3 hows it compare to that? i was watching youtube videos and they look pretty cool. let me know what you guys think...... the postives and negtives The Traxxas Nitro 4 Tec, is a great car to drag race and for speed runs, but it's not a racing chassis. No one seriously uses one for that. The Ofna would be better than that, but i don't recommend it since their are better cars. Everthing I have heard and seen says don't. My local hobby shop does not like the Ofna GTP and neither do a few of the people that have them where we run them. On the other hand the DM1 spec or the DM1 pro, either the spec or rtr are very good, probably the best GT type out of the box touring cars. The Kyosho GT2 is also good but out of the box needs more work on the brakes and tranny to be as good as the DM1. I have a DM1 pro RTR and it was great out of the box. Brakes were good and the tranny is far superior to the Kyosho GT2. If you are into RTR's its a great choice. I don't know if they make an RTR in the DM1 spec verson (this is a little shorter than the pro). A few things to keep in mind. Bigger cars take more space and the tires are alot more costly than the 1/10 scale. But if you don't mind that, they are alot of fun. Another thing, these type of cars are meant to go head to head with other type of cars like this. After awhile you will get tired of running it without at least club racing with some of your friends. That will mean you will have to go to a transmitter- receiver system that will not interfere with the other racers like the Futaba or Spectrum 2.4Ghz. I am not trying to scare you, these cars are great and handle great, but they will cost a few bucks to operate. Hope this helps Jim
If you never had a nitro on-road car... would you know the difference with the OFNA GTP? The other side is for just playin' around - I can proabably upgrade the steering servo, add a 2.4 radio and still be under the price of the DM1 spec or the DM1 pro. Given those variables... tossed into the equation... what do you think Jim? Cheers

RE: best mod for a mini t
I was running 3 cell lipos... just burned the stock motor up. But up to that point... the biggest bang... the lipos! I upgraded to a sidewinder but have to upgrade radio/rcvr, steering servo as well. But it'll be worth it, the car is a blast.

Hi Roger, I asked the club guys to take the lead on it this year. My son is going to be a senior this coming year and I want to do things with him this summer. In any case, I'm hopeful some of the guys in the club step up and run the thing. I'm beginning to lose faith in them though. ;-) v/r jhm

Folks, People have camped at the field without any problems. There is a "Gas-n-Go" type business about 2 or 3 miles away and I think it is open 7 x 24. They have clean restrooms and a place to get snacks. The mosquitoes have not been bad this year but be prepared to have some mosquito spray handy. There is standing water nearby the field. Thanks

Hi Rog, Yes, it'd be great to have you come and fly in one of these. I wish I could get a few more guys to come out from the St. Louis area. We go around and talk to the local clubs, officers, and hang flyers... I guess we just gotta keep having contests. Sooner or later they'll come over. Take care! Jeff

RE: St Louis IMAC; 14-15MAY05
I'll tell you Lew, it is great to have an organization behind IMAC like the Midwest guys. I have talked to some other IMAC pilots and to my surprise, found there are some clubs out there who could be a lot more supportive. I will mention your comments at the next meeting, the club "fathers" like to hear good things from events we sponsor. Another thing, I've got to tip my hat to Caroline and Dennis from Carden, Dave Johnson from Desert Aircraft, and Darla, Rich and company at our local shop 'Corner Hobby'. They made a contribution/donation to help support the event; no matter how large or small it really helps support the hobby and I'm grateful for the companies out there supporting local events.

RE: St Louis IMAC; 14-15MAY05
Good hear from you guys and I appreciate the feedback. I enjoyed having you all down to the field and am looking forward to seeing you guys soon. Wayne got everyone right in all the classes Lew... where the heck were you big fella?? Chris, I didn't get a copy of the Post Dispatch... I'm not sure if they ran the article or not. I couldn't find it on the web and none of the guys mentioned seeing it yet. Here is my write up for Bob Hudson: The Midwest Air Wing ‘Gateway IMAC Challenge’ is another great North Central Region contest and the only contest within a few miles of St. Louis barbeque, blues, Cardinals baseball, and the “Arch. Twelve pilots registered and flew in the contest making this a well supported Midwest Air Wing event. The weather proved challenging all weekend due to strong winds, 25 - 30 knots, giving every pilot an opportunity to demonstrate their wind corrected sequence. The contest got underway on Saturday morning, after a short rain delay, plenty early enough to get in three known rounds for the day. The field was open Saturday late afternoon for open flying. A few of the hardy contestants put in some practice flights prior to the unknown sequence being handed out. Sunday morning literally blew in with plenty of wind and an overcast sky to block the sun, excellent conditions to challenge pilots in the unknown round. Following the unknown, another known round was flown to bring the contest to close. John Lawyer masterfully used the wind to his advantage; he dominated Basic despite the wind tasking his quarter scale Extra through every maneuver. Louis Matustik flew his Hanger 9 Extra brilliant and has now strung together a phenomenal two 1st place victories in as many contests this season. Lou will be a force to recon with at all contests he attends this season. Club President Joe Manissi awarded a $50 cash prize to Lou for driving the furthest (Columbus, OH) to attend the contest. Sorry Frank... you were close... very close to winning this one too! We'll see you next month and I'm staying at the Holiday Express... so... watch out! In Intermediate, it was the always masterful Frank Morrissey and his Carden Extra bulldozing the competition all weekend long. In Advance, the magnificent Larry Arseneau turned in yet another blue ribbon performance with his Carden Extra to walkaway with the class victory. Wayne Geffon continues the Herculean effort of conquering the hotly contested Roxanna Unlimited class. This year and last, by extracting every last ounce of performance from his Carden Extra, Wayne is still Roxanna’s reigning King of Unlimited! The man is pure majic! Club member Jack Spano grilled throughout the day with the fantastic grill smell tempting all in attendance. It was superb grilling in the beautiful setting of theMidwest Air Wing Field. If you haven't flown here, you should absolutely come this September. The facility is as nice as any and a trip to the St. Louis Arch is no more the 15 minutes away. Overall, the Gateway IMAC Challenge is a great contest, a great field, near an all American city. We'll be looking forward to seeing you in St. Louis at the 2005 Midwest Air Wing ‘Gateway IMAC Challenge’ September 17thand 18th! Hi Brian! How have you been? Yeah, I flew it quite a bit but had to decide between my CompositeARF Extra and the H9 Suk. IMO... the CompositeARF flew better so I wound up selling the Suk. I do like the Sukhois though. Look forward to having you up at our tournament if you can make it. Cheers, Jeff M.

Hi Wayne, Glad you folks are coming down. I think most of the "stuff" is in order. Probably be pretty much like last year... hopefully, we'll wind up with around 25 - 30 flyers. I don't think Joe Nall is going to affect us too much, I know its really hard for me to do the long distance meets. I'll keep you posted if something comes up I can use a hand with.
