je$us....now main spur gear gone - Caldera 10E
Well, finally got my new lipos in the mail. Charged them up and got a total of 2 min approx run time. Flying along on pavement, then i hit the brake to stop....now clickety clack. Took body off and see many teeth gone from the spur gear. ARGH. anyways, i see replacements are 4 bucks etc, but what about metal or steel gears. I dont want this thing breaking every time I use it so rather pay a bit more up front for longevity. Anyone know which is a good aftermarket gear? Anything to look out for? (not sure how many teeth to get etc). Ps - wow, thing really did move fast for the 2 min I had it running. Batteries Im using are Nano-Techs 2S, 5000mah, 35c :) I might have to disable the brake if this is what will keep happening....:(

Positive, I have the caldera 10E which comes with the nimh 3800 mah battery. Its "inked" in the side of it. In the mail though I have 2 Turnigy Nano Techs 2S 35C 5000mah lipos coming. These should be a marked improvement over the the stock....i think....i hope...lol. ;)

Softcase is wrapped in plastic wrap (kind of like shrink wrap almost) vs hardcase is like a hard plastic shell. etc.

RE: Caldera 10E - Help w/Installation of new Frnt dogbones, Frnt Cups and Servo
(dammit just explained myself and it didnt submit properly and i lost everything i just typed). Anyways, see attached pic for my issues. pic point 1 - so your saying just to make the screw fit in one of those holes and it should self tap itself as the plastic on the horn will be fairly soft? pic point 2- this isnt going to work as the bottom half of the horn (which came with new servo) is bottoming out on the chassis, thus will not allow for any travel. Do I need to modify this by cutting the bottom half of horn off? Im pretty good with tools, hands etc, but i just dont want to "make it work" and have someone come back with "you idiot, you are just supposed to do this then that then presto!" Thanks again bro

RE: Caldera 10E - Help w/Installation of new Frnt dogbones, Frnt Cups and Servo
Forgive me everyone, this is my first repair job on an RC. So I got my exi metal servo in the mail today. Currently in the process of installing.....need help PLEASE. lol. I assume i have to use the horn that came with the new servo (not the stock one). The stock screw that holds the horn on wont fit the hole on the new horn....am I missing something? Servo came with 1 screw which holds the horn onto the servo gear which is fine, but confused about the other end. The new servo came with a "+" style horn (if thats what its called) and a "|" style horn. Trying to use the latter but how do I connect it to the steering linkage etc? Sorry for this, new with this stuff and dont want to miss an obvious step....id rather not force anything causing stripping, breaking and then have to wait for another mail delivery :( Many thanks in advance! edit - servo i got: http://www.hobbypartz.com/60gexidise.html

Caldera 10E - Help w/Installation of new Frnt dogbones, Frnt Cups and Servo
Hey guys, been researching and havent found many how-to's regarding this. I have in the mail new front dogbones (driveshafts), and a new 6kg servo and front diff cups (Thanks Billly@RedCat) Wondering if anyone has any tips, advice or general important information on re&re of these parts. ie. How to remove dogbones from the wheel side, new servo-just plug and play? ....and so on etc. This thread may be useful since a lot of newbies (like me) seem to be picking up the redcats and these are pretty common parts (i think) which will require replacement at some point or another. Thanks in advance.

Any advice? I havent hit anything hard, which leads be to suspect it may be a dud. Thoughts/advice apprreciated. Cant drive it as is. Sitting on my workbench :( Thanks
ORIGINAL: micah11 Hey guys, I just ordered a Caldera SC 10E yesterday from URC, and i was just wondering what parts I should order, beforehand, so when they break i'll have a replacement. Also, will a Caldera XB body & wing fit on it?
I would say a servo (mine broke) as well as frnt/rear driveshafts (aka dogbones i think), 2 lipo batteries and a charger. I;ve had my 10E for 2 weeks and waiting for the parts I just mentioned to arrive :)

RE: Arrgh - Why are lipos out of stock everywhere
Why would you buy those? They are lower duratio AND more expensive than these... They're like, worse in every way...[&:] Just check your battery tray is 170mm. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__11934__Turnigy_nano_tech_5000mah_2S_25_50C_Lipo_Pack.html Or these... http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__9961__ZIPPY_Flightmax_5000mAh_2S1P_40C.html More duration and more power for the same price.
Yah but Foxy, shipping from hobbyking is 30$ for the cheapest rate. The place i listed its 9 bucks to my door. I was going to go with the 5000Mah but was starting to worry that running two in a row might be too hard on my motor (heat etc).....Also I'm kinda set on going with the Thunder AC6 charger which is at hobby partz. So for 2 lipos and charger and shipping, I'll be at $103 total. know what i mean? I do appreciate the help though really.. thanks for chiming in. Kids are using this truck too, so I dont need THAT much power for now. Hence why Im going with 30C 4400mah .....(but im not the pro, you guys are....i;'ve only been in this for a week :) ) Thanks again.

Arrgh - Why are lipos out of stock everywhere
Ok, so new caldera 10e owner here. Looking to buy a couple lipos and a charger. After much research it seems im going to go with the SKY 30C 2S 5000mah lipos, and the Thunder AC6 charger. Problem is finally when I decide on the lipo to go with, hobbypartz is out of stock :( Anyone with experience know how long or what their deal is with restocking? Im pretty fixed on going with them as they seem to have the best shipping rates to ontario Canada. Unless there is some online site based in Canada i could go with, but any i've found so far are a rip off. Thoughts? Thanks in advance

RE: *Official* Caldera 10E Video, Picture And Discussion Thread
Thanks for the response. I'll definitely check those out. Newb Question - Is there any stock tweaks I should make sure to do that will make the stock set up run better? ie. Best spring rate, any ESC settings, etc etc that I should adjust for best all round performance and safety (for vehicle, not human/physical). Im mostly on sandy pavement, short grass and only smaller jumps etc....no serious "bashing" etc. Also,, anything I should check for? I simple unpackaged it, charged'er up and ran it. Not sure if I should ensure I'm setting this or that, and checking this or that. (keeping my eye on all screws and so far so good. Also have blue locktite laying around just in case) edit - also from what i think i read in this thread, its the "mah" in the batter that determins (so to speak) run time. SO for instance would this: http://hobbyking.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=14991 have more run time per charge than this: http://www.hobbypartz.com/77p-sl4400-2s1p-30c-2222.html ?? Planning on keeping at 7.4 volt for now. Thanks again everyone.
