RE: TC3 Top Speed Build Log.
The TC3's are 190mm stock. You can buy the 200mm a arm upgrade kit if you'd like to go 200mm...i stayed with the 190 and just put wider foams on and installed a 200mm body just fine...as you can see in the pics.

RE: HPI Nitro RS4 3 Evo+ Vs. Traxxas Nitro 4-Tec 3.3
ORIGINAL: Car-Boy Well the traxxas has a .21 size engine. HPI comes with an .18. Traxxas is faster. But will an HPI be faster with that same engine?
The traxxas has a .20 size engine, which is basicly just a bored out .18. The traxxas has a much better internal drive ratio which is good for top speed. I beleive it has a 2.1 IDR where the hpi has a 2.57 which sucks! And to anwser your qeustion, the hpi with the same engine will still lose in top speed against the 4tec.

RE: TC3 Top Speed Build Log.
I plan on getting a 5s lipo int he future....and yes, you are right..people that blow it up are the morons. I use this ride for speed runs..2-3 passes on max timing is enough heat for the motor...when i wanna bash with it, i can hook up the 2s lipo and be fine for a long time.

RE: OFFICIAL RS4 RTR 3 thread!!!!!!!Also type SS and others
You will need to get a Y splitter off your battery pack.. or if you have a 5 channel traxxas receiver, you can use one of the channels for power. but most likly you have a 2 channel receiver. ..so i'd just get the y splitter for the battery pack.

RE: TC3 Top Speed Build Log.
I did some passes last week with my tc3. I got some new pinion gears in. For the runs i used a 72-29t set up. I can't beleive what a difference the body has made..this car stay stuck to the ground like a charm...it was only in the mid 40's the day i did it..and the foam tires didn't give..i made about 5 passes back and forth and montiored my motor temps, which were at 101 consistantly...so i can still gear this bad boy shorter....i have a 33t pinion i am going to put in there...i did about 30 passes in all, with the max temp on my motor being 131 degrees. Once the weather breaks and my buddys come over, i'll get it radared and video. Theres one thing i didn't like about the runs and that is, when i cut the protoform body, on the rear section i cut about 3/4 to much up....so now, those flaps on the rear flap around doing some speed, which is causing drag and rub on my tires. i am going to put a reinforcement on the rear to get rid of that....oh well...other then that the car went real straight and had no lift.

HPI and other engine makers like to inflate those HP numbers..i had a site that told me the real HP numbers of alot of the top motors, but seem to not be able to find it....but theres no way the motor will get 2.2hp on the xdyno. Its still a fast motor though...on my buddys completly stock rs4 evo 3...i put a performance exhaust on there...and clocked him at 54mph...not bad for stock gearing..

Electric RC Car Top Speed Calculater Online.
Hey guys, well, i had a guy ask whats the formula to get the top speed of a certian setup and in the past i've made my own excel sheet, but today i decided to make a script for an online calculation to find out therotical top speed for you speed freaks like me. Its nothing special, but nice and easy to use, just input the numbers like your tire diameter, spur, pinion, ect. Heres the link: http://www.daytonashelby.com/gearing.php I know theres a site that has a bunch of calculator....but can't find the link (I made this at work to waste time...lol)

RE: Another top speed build Help me pick vehicle
Here. I made up a script and uploaded it to my website. This calculator will tell you everything you need to know by simply inputing some numbers http://www.daytonashelby.com/gearing.php And as for your 1:1 ratio, in the internal gear ratio, you would put 1. Hope this helps you.

TC3 Top Speed Build Log.
Hello everyone....well, i decided to make a log for my tc3 top speed build i've been working on during this very mild winter i've been having. Just a little background....i am a big nitro guy.....i have a rs4 evo (hence my name) with a modified trx 3.3 implanted into it. Top speed of that nitro was 61mph and not any more. After reading many posts about brushless cars and they are the new wave of rc, i decided to entertain the idea. So, i got a good deal on a tc3 electric roller...and then got another tc3 roller on ebay with team parts.. Heres my current list of mods and components i have on the tc3. 1. Team Kit TC3 2. Upgraded HD RPM Ball cups all around. 3. Custom Titanium drive shaft 4. Adjustable Shocks 5. PFTE Bearing everywhere 6. 30mm Front foam tires 7. Custom 44mm rear foams (Cut down to alittle under 40mm to fit underneath body.) 8. Protoform TCC gen 2 body 9. Castle Creations Mamba Max Pro ESC 10. CC 7700kv 4pole brushless motor 11. Turnigy 5000mah 30c 3s LiPo battery 12. 72 tooth Spur gear with a 23 tooth pinion. 13. Big heatsink for motor 14. 1600mah 6v receiver pack battery 15. Traxxas 2.4ghz 2218 receiver paired with traxxas transmitter. I think that list is just about everything.. Currently i had the car speed tested at 51mph...but had alotta traction issues as it was alittle too cold outside...plus my diffs were all messed up.. With my current set up on the car( alnog with the ESC set in the middle timing..) i should be getting around between 55mph to 60mph...yesterday it was around 50 degrees and did some passes and its running alot smoother..seems just as fast as my rs4 nitro...but i will have to wait and find out. This morning i ordered some pinion gears...i am going to pop on a 31 tooth pinion and make a couple of runs with that when the weather breaks. I also just got done with my protoform body that i got to help with aerodynamics..which has seemed to work yesterday..even though it was very windy. If anyone has any suggestions feel free to say them... I've heard that the tc3 chassis isn't the greatest for high speed runs but the tc4 chassis is? What do i have to swap to put a tc4 chassis on a tc3? Heres some current pics of the beast.

When i try to determine the top speed of my rig, i always take 30% off the top speed...and usually thats what i run on the street...it might actually be alittler more like 35%

Wait a minute...are you talking about the SPUR gears and/or PINION gears? The diff gears i am talking about are the bevel gears inside the gear boxes.

Theres only 2 set ups with diff gears...the one that is stock in the evo and then theres the MT, which has a taller gear set. You can also get a locked front diff. This thread isn't dead, just no body post on it, but i always have an eye on it...

RE: Speed hurts....
WELL! I got a resurrection pic of my tc3 beast....i got some new shoes and a new protoform body...i JUST got done painting it...still have to put the decals on and spoiler...my 44mm rear tire are also at the machine shop getting 6mm's takin off of them so they can tuck under neath the body. I might go with 30mm on the rear also..we will see....with the 30mm wide foams up front it turns perfect and the body clearance is awesome.....overall this body is a real good fit. I also got my titanuim driveshaft back from my machinst..turned out well.. I am going to get some bigger pinions soon also... Heres a shot on progress..it looks beastly..

The effect from having wide tires stick past body.
Hey guys, this a a qeustion for you aerodynamic guys....i have a electric tc3 that i put 44mm foams on the rear. I also have a protoform tcc gen2 body that i am putting on it...the foam tires are going to stick out like 4mm on each side, my qeustion is, what kind of effect (if any) does having the tires stick out past the edge fo the body like this. I am a speed addict, so i am trying to eliminate any drag...i know that if i trim it at a real tight tolerance that my body will catch the foams...which i don't want...i've even thought about taken the 44mm wide tires and putting them on a lathe to take off that 4mm needed to fit under neath the body.. (i don't wanna keep waiting for that gpm 40mm and 32mm tire set from kamakize to be in stock, not to mention the expensive price of them..) Thanks. Tom

Wanted to bring this thread up top.... Just an update of my speed goals....the rs4 nitro has been retired to a basher and show car..i topped at 61mph...this has been a very busy winter for me...i've switched to brushless for my speed adiction..i picked up a very cheap tc3 roller..and have put way to much money into it..lol... Spring it coming!!!

RE: Does anyone know of another site i can get these?
EDIT: let me correct myself here.. The JACO foams are 61mm in diameter which is 2.4" and the wdith is 49mm...so yea...you were write on the width..sorry... But as for speed runs i will give you an example of how much speed you could lose: If i was running 83.2mph with my 2.54" foams, switching to a 2.4" foam i'd be running, 78mph....so you'd lose about 5 mph. just a FYI.. (calculations above are theoritcal.)

RE: Does anyone know of another site i can get these?
Those foam tires are 1.87" in diameter, not width...the ones i order are 2.54" in diameter..putting these on your car will slow it down. i also researched up and down on how to put bigger and wider tires on...i've come to the conclusion that the pan car foams are too small..not to mention they are very pricey. I'll have to agree with barber...get away from traxxas..in my experiance...you over pay on things with them....i picked up a tc3 roller for 40 bucks..

Which tires are you talking about? the ones that go on the adapter you gave a link for? Would you have a link for these? What are your goals for your 4tec? Speed runs? And btw, the width of the ones i have are 46mm....but they say 44mm for some reason.. - Tom

The measurment from the SEAT of the 12mm hex to the tire rim is .898 Looks like you will need to do some mods to have the fit. GL.

RE: got the rs4 blues
Sounds like your clutch isn't very good...could you link me to this MIP clutch you have?....i've had issues with the 3 claw ones sucking it up.... Also, make sure your motor isn't spitting oil/gas near the bell housing...and degrease the inside of your bell housing too. As for your motor reving high after start up, this is usually normal....does it come down to idle after a few seconds? And are you starting this motor is cold weather?

Yea...these foams are for the 12mm adaptors....they fit on both my rs4 and tc3....so i'd assume these fit on the 4tec.....
