RE: Nitro X-Cellerator or Firestorm
Get the Firestorm. The Xcellerator is garbage. I ended up giving mine away to a friend because nobody would buy it.

Could you do me a favor and measure a part of the suspension arms for me? The space in between the two tabs that mount to the chassis. I'd like to throw some shorter arms and a scale body onto one of these.

It's a letdown because of how it looks? Save for the body, the truck looks like just about all the other Traxxas EP vehicles I've seen. It may not be 100% scale, but it sure as hell is more scale looking than most other RC trucks.

RC Rally Car Video
2 Tamiya TT01's and 1 HPI RS4 Rally. The video's not that long as the camera kind of became a casualty. [:@] http://myspacetv.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=33281584 It's somewhat crappy quality on Myspace's video thing. I'm currently uploading it to Youtube, hoping that it'll look a bit better.

RE: opinions on the new HPI E10!
Some background on why I got this car and why I don't like it. I did buy the "Drifting" model, though I never intended to use it for drifting (I really, REALLY don't like drifting). I meant to put some regular tires on it so my brother could drive with my TT01s. The chassis is made from very low-quality plastic it doesn't even appear to be abs. The wheels are held on by small screws which could easily strip out over time or from over-tightening them, leaving you with a missing wheel. Pretty much everything is made from the same low-quality plastic. The entire drivetrain is made from it! Overall, this feels like a Toys-r-us play car with HPI electronics in it. It's got decent speed, and the electronics are okay, but everything else is just below par in my opinion. I've got multiple TT01s and I wish I had just bought another one of them instead.

Inferno GT Engine Swap
I want to replace the stock engine in my Inferno GT. I've got an Axial .28 I had bought for my Revo but haven't installed it because the throttle linkage is being a PITA. I think I'm going to get rid of the Revo as a roller. I tried to mount the Axial .28 into the Inferno, but realized that the Inferno has no engine mount. What the heck? How am I supposed to put a new engine in here if Kyosho has it so that the engines bolt directly to the chassis? Is there an engine mount out there for the Inferno that I missed in all of my google searching or something? Thanks.

RE: Tamiya Dark Impact - First Time Kit Build!
ORIGINAL: Lunchboxer Make sure that the VXL motor fits in the Dark Impact before you buy the motor / ESC! It is a pretty tight space in there! Good luck! Enjoy the build!! [sm=thumbs_up.gif]
I bought a VXL setup for my DF03 and found that it would not fit without a bunch of modification. The ESC is a bit large and the motor wires interfere with mounting the motor. I put a Castle Creations brushless setup in mine. It was cheaper and it fit in there perfectly.

Got to go out and drive it. This thing goes very, very well. It actually goes better with the shorter wheelbase than it did with the wider wheelbase. Now it's got some competition, though. [8D] [image]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v450/bgemmill/RS4Rally.jpg[/image]

RE: Tamiya DF03 Buggy to Rally Car Conversion
I like the way this thing handles with the shorter wheelbase better than it does with the longer wheelbase! I think I might have killed one of the diffs, though. I screwed up when I was drilling the holes. I'll fix it later, I just wanted to drive it today. I'm thinking about taking it to Revelation raceway tomorrow if it's not dead. Edit: I found the problem. I stripped every single tooth off of the spur gear... RE: Tamiya DF03 Buggy to Rally Car Conversion
The chassis is done. i'm going to have to figure out where I'm mounting the body posts. I had them mounted on the top of the front diff cover, but the screws backed out rather easily, leaving the body flopping around. [image]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v450/bgemmill/PICT2575.jpg[/image] Obviously, I haven't mounted shocks on it prior to this picture. The turn buckles required me to re-locate the mounting points for the shocks.
ORIGINAL: blitzskiff i have been looking for a rally car for a while now! can someone tell me what to do or buy? thanks
A Tamiya TT-01 chassis with rally block tires will handle asphalt and light off-roading well. I kind of killed mine when I put my VXL system in it. It fused the spur to the spur gear cover. [:o] I've also got a Kyosho Inferno GT that I put some Axial Blade Runners on. It does alright off-road, but the suspension's pretty stiff when you first get it.

Once I get one of the arms set up correctly I'll set up all 4 of them and head to the hobby shop to buy all the parts to finalize it. [8D] I need to find some shorter "Threaded Shafts", as they're called in the Tamiya manual. As you can tell by the last picture, it really throws the camber off if I use the stock ones. I'll also need to locate some shorter axles.
