Yes indeed, I am tired of the wood & drill method, it's never accurate enough. There's a couple of vids and one of them is doing not only a 5mm main but a tail shaft as well. They are under Youtube's "Truing Tool" Thanks for the advice.

450 shaft straightening tool (truing tool)
Does anybody knows where can I buy a Shaft Straightening Tool for 5mm. (450 shafts) ? There's the Eisenberg tool, but the guy on Ebay states he "doesn't know of any 5mm. shafts and only makes it for 3mm". mmmmm............... There are two or three videos on Youtube, however it's impossible to contact these people. Went to a machine shop but they wanted an insane amount of dough for such a simple device. Jeezzz I could buy a zillion new shafts for that price. Just a place that will sell it will be fine. Thanks

RE: Tracking blades
Kind of strange simptom, are you 100% sure the tracking shows a flat rotor profile ? I always paint my blade tips two very different colors for easier tracking visiblility, it sure beats the color tape and you always have'em for quick tracking reference. Is the swashplace leveled ? Another thing I would check for is your servo limits at full. Hope this helps.

RE: New to 6ch Helicopters
ORIGINAL: antboy6969 hey guys I am new to rc helicopters and I am loving it , these things are so much fun to play with but I need some advice from some rc heli veterans. it all started when I got my first helicopter for Christmas is was a 6ch skyartec ninja 400, straight away I took it out of the box and tried to fly it 2 minutes later the whole heli was in pieces and took me about $200 aud to fix it . The hobby shop owner who fixed my chopper told me that I should have never tried to fly a 6ch heli before flying a 3ch, 4ch and then finally after mastering then only he told me to fly a 6ch heli. so i bought my first 4ch heli which is a merlin tracer 90 great looking heli which is a clone of the nine eagles solo pro, in fact it uses the same pcb! so I took it home and had some test flights I work my way up slowly to a point where I can hover it , when after a few days I did my first mod on the heli (shorten fly bars) after then I started having real fun . it was great with the mod I could fly really fast and turn quickly etc. so I recon I’m pretty good right now after about 3 weeks flying the 4ch little heli, so yesterday I took out the old ninja 400 heli this this was massive compared to the merlin tracer. so I set the ninja pro up adjusted the trims and all that to near perfect and took off straight away the wind blew and carried the heli away a little bit I was scared to do anything because of the fear of breaking it . So I am asking you guys out there how do you get over the fear of flying a massive helicopter? The fear will turn to excitement once you can hover it and hear the humming. Having said that: Get a training kit, the foam balls on the X-shaped rods. Start sliding it on the ground until you can control the cyclic with ease. Once you can hover (tail in of course) get one to two feet off the ground and try to hold it as much as possible. All of these should be at zero or very little wind. Enclosed auditoriums or basketball courts are the best Should I fly a mini 6ch heli first? Not really, oddly enough it'll be easier with a bigger heli. They are more stable. Are there any simulators that I can use that will give me the same feel as I am flying my ninja 400? Yes, Clearview is VERY good for the price. About 50 bucks. However ALL sims will only come to about 60 to 70% of the real deal. Please any tips or tricks are well appreciated. Never ever under-estimate these machines. 400 sized and bigger helis are much "toys" as a Big V-twin is a "toy" Never ever fly it close to you or expectators. Never ever test, spool up or fly indoors. Be VERY CAREFULL with the iddle up switch / curve and its operation. Hover, hover, hover. Hope this helps. Thankyou so much for your time. RE: Helicopter main blades
Blades are measured in mm. Yours seem to be for big helis, in essence 700 electrics or 50 perhaps bigger gassers. The prices are a bit too high, 690mm. carbon blades for a 700 T-rex sell anywhere from 90 to 130 bucks Your 26" blades are 660mm. in length Hope this helps Hello all, I have a question pertaining to helicopter main blades, I know nothing about helicopters. I picked up a box lot of R/C parts from a local auction and in the box were three brand new pair of main blades and only one half of a pair. My question is...what's the proper way to measure these ? The one half that I have measures 27 1/2" and has the name DY PRODUCTS and says F1 and appears to be carbon fiber ?. The first pair...each blade is 29" long, has no name, constructed of three kinds of wood with like a mylar covering. Next pair...each blade measures 26" long, no name, constructed of two kinds of wood with no covering or paint. Last pair...each blade measures 27" long, says DY PRODUCTS and says F1 and appears to be carbon fiber. On the boxes are hand written the numbers...3692-2, on two boxes, next box...3691-1 and the last box has 3674-2. I'm sure the blades were mixed up with the boxes from the auction. Also, the prices on the boxes seem unreal, $229.95 thru $164.95. P.M.s welcomed. Thank you.
RE: Replacing Rotor Gear
From the pictures it seems that it's a coax heli. Yes, the gears can be replaced, however it a very cumbersome - time consuming task. It gets messy. I'd rather change main and feathering shafts on my 450''s and 600's anytime. See if you can re-groove the existing gears with a sharp metal object. I have used a surgical scalpel to re-groove my Walkera 4F180 (single rotor fixed pitch). It is not the ideal thing to do, but takes care of the wack wack sound on spool up. If you like coax helis, you should try the Syma 031 they are built like tanks. Hope this helps.

RE: Helicopter does not have enough power to get off ground
It could be anything, however; if the radio, rx, and servos are OK. It could very well be a dead battery and/or incorrect throttle - pitch curve combination. I checked the pitch and all is well. I went to a local RC dealer. He was great. I am going to take my helicopter into him and his tech will check it out. It is better to have someone who knows what they are doing to check it out and get it working for me. One thing the dealer stated was that if all controls were working but lack of power, it might be a bad battery. His tech will do a complete check on helicopter and then I will know. Read the reviews for Banana Hobby. Not good. Will post results once they are done with helicopter.
That must've been really hard to deal with; taking into consideration the battery and motor's demise. My deepest condolences Well my fleet of KDS 450's is now down to 2 atl least until I rebuild one from the worst crash I have had yet. Yesterday I was flying around when I decided that I was going to add another helicopter to my transmitter. All was fine so I binded it to my transmitter but in the process of my preflight I made the grave mistake of reversing a chnnel on accident. The helicopter when I put it in idle mode completely freaked out and went about 200 feet up I killed the the throttle and was hoping to give a max burst of throttle about five feet off the ground, well that didnt work out well she met the concrete with a brutal force hahaha. TOTAL DAMAGES 1. CANOPY 2. FRAME BROKEN 3. 2 SERVOS 4. BATTERY 5. MOTOR 6. ENTIRE HEAD ASSEMBLY including BLADES 7. MY HEART
Thanks Broncoboy, by any chance do you know what the readings should be: From batt. pack into ESC (guessing 12ish on a fully charged 11.1V - 2200mAh - 20C) Fom ESC into RX? (4.5 to 6V) From RX into tail servo ? (4.5 to 6V) I'm guessin the readings because there is nothing in the instructions............odd, LOL ! Please correct me if any of them is wrong. BTW, last night it changed from waggin to glitchy seizure-like wag fits, kind of one every 2 or 3 seconds Voltage fluctuation from somewhere ?

450 Tail wag (death wag)
The tail servo on my 450 started acting out (wagging) and gets really hot to the touch; tried the gain (on both normal & avcs or HH) nothing. No binding, no loose ball links, belt tension is fine, gyro has good pading, tail blades are nice and loose, tail shaft is straight, dip switches are DS on for dig. servo, gyro correction is ok, delay is 0 for dig. servo, limits are fine. Swapped the servo into my other 450, servo is fine. It is an S 9750 dig tail servo. Tried a new gyro, same wag. The ESC is new (although I've seen them fry things) so I'm kind of thinking of the receiver going out of wack. Not considering swapping receivers due to the other 450 is VERY nicely wired and tuned and don't wannna mess it up. Any sugestion will be appreciated

RE: Mode 1 to Mode 2 Conversion
Yes indeed; just like Rafael pointed out, you must swap the retaining springs and wires from the cyclic (left stick on mode 1) to the collective/throttle (right stick on mode1). Viceversa you must swap the friction bar and (throtle and rudder or aileron wires) on your collective from the right stick to your left stick. See if you can swap the entire stick assembly by removing the screws that hold each of them to the control face. If there's enough slack on the harnesses you "might" be able to do it avoiding the teardown, which can get pretty messy IMHO. Good luck

RE: with my Heli not wanting to turn clockwise.
Are your tail blades rotating correctly ? Usually if the main goes clockwise the tail should spin counterclockwise, sometimes when belts are changed you end up with a half extra twist on it and wrong tail rotation as result. Are the blades properly set, leading edge first. Check the norm/rev. dip switch on the gyro. It commands the gyro's correction pattern. (has nothing to do with the servo reverse) It it doesn't turn one way try flipping this dip switch. Check the delay pot on the gyro, if using a digital tail servo, your delay should be zero. Your head speed is very important as well, too low head speed with cause all kinds of weird direction problems. Hope this helps [8D]

RE: newbie crashing non stop!
Seems to be a setting problem. Have you checked for a leveled swashplate ? Do you have any other settings (sub trims) or pots (potentiometers) ? Remove the head assembly leaving only the swasplate hooked to the heli via the links, see if you can fit a small enough buble lever to check forward tilt and side tilt on the swash. If not, try to eyeball it to your best ability. Hope this helps

RE: How Tight Should Blades Be?
No, the tail blades should be loose given that they spin two or three times faster than the main head. Tails however, are a bit more forgiving, shafts don't bend as easily and tail vibration or one-way yaw sets in if it's really messed up. Hope this helps.

RE: newbie crashing non stop!
Is it rocking or nose bobing ? If Rocking back and forth, that could be several things: Un-leveled swash plate, look at it from the side and it should be flat if not, adjust the ball linkage on the pitch servo. A glitchy pitch servo Loose ball link - Messed up blades, warped flybar, loose/unbalanced head.... and the list goes on. Perhaps other members have more on this, but these would be my areas of concern. If nose bobing, it could be worn or unlubed head dampers on the feathering shaft (if so equiped) which I doubt cause this is usually on CCPM (6channels) No hover is 100% steady unles you use a KDS Flymentor or other computerized stabilization system. For obvious reasons, we humans can't correct course in tenths or thousandths of a second. Try to keep in within the narrowest margin of a two feet or one foot diameter circle that's pretty good (imho) Oddly enough FBL's hovering is easier given the three axis stabilizatilon. Hope this helps
ORIGINAL: alexhunter Thanks guys, I'll keep at it with the msr. I think there may be some type of damage from all the crashes though. I'm constantly trimming and when hovering it rocks forward and backward a fair bit. Or is that normal. How stable should the hover be? Just to clarify, when I'm hovering I can keep it in one spot but it rocks back and forth without me touching the elevator stick.
RE: newbie crashing non stop!
I agree with Real2you, if you are already hovering a single rotor bird, do not go back to coax, it will only slow your process. In my case it was coax first, then fixed-pitch (four channel flybarless-Walkera 4F180) and only then CCPM (both FB and FBL).

RE: newbie crashing non stop!
Indeed, turning is a subtle movement. If you have 3D or CF blades (the really light ones) try FG or plastic. A heavier blade provides for a much controlable flight. Unless you are trying a flat 360 spin, your turn should start with aileron (banking) first, followed by very slight rudder and more aggressive nose up. In that sequence your craft will behave like the big ones. On these turns the rudder is a more passive command only correcting VERY LITTLE of the maneuver. I 've seen people flight and turn using a styrofoam plate for rudder without any spinning propeller on it. If it is a 360, then place on your throttle curve a small flat line section AFTER the hover mid-stick point, this will prevent the all too familiar up or down on the spin. If you start your flight heading left hand side, your turn should ALWAYS be to the right and vice versa, in essence always have the nose turn AWAY from you. Otherwise you will run into a nose-in postion, it gets kind of weird then Hope this helps

RE: Beginner w/ questions and seeking advice and answers.
Absolutely, WORDS of WISDOM. Please read the entire post; it is extremely accurate.
ORIGINAL: hugger-4641 I don't think you will get bored too easily with a coaxial. The CX2 will fly outdoors, but it won't handle much wind. I fly more advanced helis now like the Blade 400 and T-Rex, but I still enjoy flying a CX2 . My reccomendation would be to get a good coaxial to start with. Unless you have the money to get a simulator also, you will probably spend more money repairing a more advanced helicopter than you would if you started out with a coaxial. You will develop a lot of skill and muscle memory with a coaxial that will help when you move up to a collective pitch bird. All of the Blade helicopters are very good products with good customer support and replacement parts are easy to get. So you won't go wrong with the Blade 120, but you will probably end up buying more replacement parts than you would if you started out with a Cx2 or similar coaxial. However, if you can get a simulator, then I would reccomend just getting a Blade 450 and don't try to fly it until you build some skill on the sim.
