RE: THE Official HPI Savage Flux-HP Thread
I just bought the vorza and spent 4 hours running it at the track. The tires never came loose and I used zero locktite. My savage flux hp blows the tire out within 15 minutes on 6S or 20-25 minutes in 5S. I'd really like to find a way to convert the tires to the same style hub my vorza uses.

RE: Black Horse Models 77
I purchased the BH Models Sea Fury while at the Toledo RC show this year and I am planning on either gas or glow. A few questions for you since you've already started the build. 1.) Did you use the stock retracts? The retracts that came with mine are HORRIBLE! The actuator valve pulled into two pieces when i tried to cycle it. (It didn't break, it just looks like there is nothing stopping it from pulling into two pieces.) The kit does not come with a fill line or valve in which to add air to the system and the instructions do not really give you an idea of how they went about filling up the system. This wouldn't be to bad if they had used robart style air tubing rather than the thick orange tubing that it comes with, which is about 3 times larger than the Robart tubing. According to Hobby People, the retracts are not much to look at, but they do function. (Assuming you have a functional air actuator) 2.) How much nose weight do you have? I have a DLE 30, an ASP 1.80, a Moki 2.10 and soon to have a Zenoah G38 and I have no idea which engine I should fit to this plane. The instructions called for a Fuji 35, which is no longer made, but weighted about 4.04 pounds with muffler. The Zenoah would be the closest match at a little over 4 pounds. I'm curious since you went electric, but then again you probably have some heavy batteries in the nose along with the ESC and motor? 3.) Do your hinges have any play? I noticed that half of the hinges in my kit were rock solid while half of them had a noticeable amount of play. I'm hoping this doesn't cause flutter down the road, but I'd hate to pull them apart just to tighten things up a bit.

RE: Top Flite B-25 ARF (Tecnical, tips, suggestions)
Thanks for the information. The two 91s I have are the older style but brand new in box. I've heard they are very reliable but I think I'll run them for a while on te bench before making a decision. I was also thinking of selling them (for sale on Rcgroups) but I'm not sure of the newer version is better or if parts are available for the older version I have. Mine goes not have anodized parts.

RE: Top Flite B-25 ARF (Tecnical, tips, suggestions)
Can anyone with experience on this plane comment on whether a pair of thunder tiger 91 four stroke engines would be to much? I've got an offer for a package deal with those motors but I'm concerned the added 10 ounces per motor and larger size may cause issues in terms of fitting inside the canopy and causing me to add tail weight to an already heavy plane. Also, has anyone compared the flight of this plane to the hangar 9 twin otter? The twotter can handle a single engine failure without a huge cause for panic, but other than that, I wonder if the feel of flight will be similar?

I never tried as its not waterproof and snow melts. But I've flown planes in winter and get about 50-60 percent of the original flight times. Check out www.valuehobby.com for some cheap but good lipos.

Flux hp in snow? It's the esc that doesn't do well with water. It possible the batteries were being pulled on hard, but id bet the cold is what's draining them quicker. Lipos don't give full capacity in cold weather.

RE: Power HD 9150 Servos Holding Up?
Any updates? I need about 25 new servos and I was thinking of going power hd 1501, 7150 and 9150. The hitec 5645 is good, but more expensive and I've heard lots of issues with centering after several flights and premature gear wear. I've used the 1501s and I was extremely impressed. I'd like to know what's causing the servo lockouts that some users have experienced. What, inside the servo, is binding up?

RE: Electrified Northstar
If the wires are too long between the speed controller in the motor, you will have timing issues. ,If the wires are too long between the speed controller and the battery, you'll have some really high ripple voltage which can cause all of the items you mentioned. Since I do not want to put the speak controller in the middle and run more wires , I'll have to take my chances as is. From what I've read it's better to extend the battery wires than it is to extend the wires between the speed controller and the motor. The motor is only 670 k v. Since I can only use a 10 inch prop , I used the largest pitch possible in order to get the amperage up . I know this is probably a bad idea so I'm going to try my 10 by 7 by 3 blade. I also plan on adding some air scoops to both sides in order to get some air over the speed controller. Currently, the speed controller seas 0 air flow.

RE: Electrified Northstar
The esc is barried inside the rear box with zero airflow...so I'm guessing you're right. I was thinking of carving some air inlets on top and the sides in order to improve flow. Also, the 10x10 apce prop is barely enough thrust on a 670kv motor. It takes off from dry grass with a little push and my model weights just over six pounds with the lip and 5 pounds 2 ounces without. I have a 10x7x3 prop I want to try as I don't like the idea of staying 75% throttle to maintain flight. If I had to do this again, I'd move the engine box up a half inch and use an 11x7x3 prop with this beauty. Also purchased a built and painted north star for $20 at the last swap meet. Its beat up and weights a ton with the paint, but I might try for a spare gas north star to compare flight performance. Using a evolution. 52 engine that also cost me $20 bucks! :)

RE: Should Hitec replace planes from lock outs
I had a brand new seagull texan, os 1.20ax, hitec mg5645 servos and optima 7 receiver. Battery was a life 6.6v 2000mah pack from towerhobbies...brand new. Range test passed...engine broken in with three tanks or fuel. Everything happy and ready for maiden. I take of in about 20 feet. Climbing to about 40-50 feet and COMPLETE LOSS OF CONTROL! Engine dies as per failsafe and the plane stalls out in a climb and nose dives into rocks. Broken everything. I call hitec, send an email and mailed the receiver back with a letter and links to two youtube videos showing the range test failure repeated in my basement. Two weeks later, I call to follow up and I'm told that it was a cold solder joint failure, which lowered the range. New receiver was in the mail. Now maybe I'm wrong here, but I lost $850 worth of engine, plane and servos. It was not my fault in that I shouldn't have to open the receiver and resolder all joints as a "precaution". I was "less than happy". I talked to Mike at hitec who offered some help with purchasing new servos...but im still out $850!!! A month later and im still disappointed, but at least nobody got hurt. I want a new plane, but money is tight and it took a year of saving for that one crash!

Cool. I was looking at that and the used ones. The seller didn't seem to know what he was talking about so I didn't bite. RE: Magnum .91FS!
About 8 tanks and im at 9500 with an APC 14x6. Didn't follow the break in procedure as im new to gas and my magnum did not come with a manual. Anyway, no delta from first to eight tank in terms of rpm. Im not able to hover my revolver 70 so im hoping to get another 500 rpms out of this engine. Does this engine improve as you break it in? Also, im getting 9500 at around 65 degrees F. I broke the engine by running stock settings for one tank and slowly leaned the low end for the next several tanks. About 1/3 gallon through it to date. High end was a few clicks down from max rpm.

I agree. Please try the Fox plug again and report back. I just bought the Magnum 91 FS engine and a bunch of those FOX plugs. I've been told that the pre-chambered plugs like the Fox are not ideal for schnuerle ported engines. The one you got from Hobby People is Flush and that's the recommended style. I'm curious to know what the correct answer is.

My sensor is "working" in the sense that it gives a reading. But it appears to be showing about double the actual rpm. I have mine zip ties about 3/4" away from the spark plug. Is my sensor bad or is there something else I could be doing wrong? Also, I covered the sensor in RTV sealant for "waterproofing purposes" Not sure if it was required, but I'm hoping the RTV sealant is somehow causing an issue.

RE: King Motors Baja Review with pictures
So after reading about 50 of the threads, I noticed at least one or two guys getting upset about "comparing KM to HPI" BUT...I have to wonder if anyone has recently tried the Terminator (AKA Rovan Sport) Baja 5T truck lately. Apparently the new"er" version has improved features and rcsracinglive wants $850 for it. That's pretty close to the cost of an HPI, but with some nice add-on's. I've been researching for the last month or so and I would ideally like to have an HPI for around $1000, but since that isn't going to happen anytime soon, I'm wondering if the Rovan Sport is working well for anyone out there. Also, does anyone have any experience dealing with rcsracinglive.com ? He seems like a nice guy, but spending $850 of something you can't see first is a bit more trust than I'm willing to put on the table.
